ROTARY LOCKOUT TAGOUT LATCH SYSTEM

A latch system for an electrical equipment enclosure includes a latch arm receiver adapted to be connected to an associated enclosure door. A latch arm assembly is adapted to be connected in operative engagement with an associated circuit breaker. The latch arm assembly includes a chassis and a latch arm that moves relative to the chassis between: (i) a first arm position; (ii) a second arm position; and (iii) an intermediate arm position between the first arm position and the second arm position. A latch arm spring biases the latch arm toward its first arm position. A handle is rotatably connected to the chassis and operatively connected to the toggle of the circuit breaker. The handle is movable to and between an ON handle position, a TRIP handle position, an OFF handle position, and a RESET handle position. The handle is operatively connected to the latch arm such that the latch arm is positioned in the second arm position when the handle is located in said RESET handle position. The latch arm spring biases the latch arm into one of the first position and the intermediate position when the handle is in any one of said ON handle position, said TRIP handle position, and said OFF handle position. A lockout plunger is connected to the handle to rotate with the handle and is movable between a disengaged position and an engaged position, wherein the lockout plunger prevents movement of the handle from the OFF handle position to the ON handle position when the lockout plunger is in its engaged position

Fusible switching disconnect modules and devices with electromagnetic coil and trip mechanism

A fusible switch disconnect device includes a housing adapted to receive at least one fuse therein, and a switchable contact for connecting the fuse to circuitry. A tripping mechanism including an electromagnetic coil is operable to move the switchable contact to an open position in response to a predetermined electrical condition when the fuse is engaged and when the switchable contact is in the closed position.

Retrofit remote control device mounting assembly

A remote control device may be mounted to a structure. The remote control device may include a control unit, a base, a faceplate, an adapter, and a mounting plate. The adapter may be configured to be attached to the faceplate. The adapter may be configured to be secured to the structure. The mounting plate may float between the adapter and the structure when the adapter is secured to the structure. The mounting plate may include a frame, a mounting tab, and a plurality of spring arms. The mounting tab may extend from the frame, for example, a platform on the frame. The mounting tab may be configured to prevent rotation of the base of the remote control device when the base is attached to the mounting plate. The plurality of spring arms may be configured to bias the mounting tab away from the structure.

Circuit breaker with integrated safety lock-off mechanism

A circuit breaker is configured to ensure electrical safety when working on its circuits. The circuit breaker comprises a housing with an exterior boundary. The housing includes an “integrated” or “pre-installed” Lock-Off feature extending away from the exterior boundary. The Lock-Off feature having a hole that is configured to receive a shackle or a shank of a padlock. The circuit breaker further comprises a built-in Lock-Off mechanism including a handle integrated with the housing using a pivot such that the handle is configured to pivot relative to the hole in the Lock-Off feature. The built-in Lock-Off mechanism in combination with the Lock-Off feature is configured to prevent the handle from being turned ON with the use of the padlock. The padlock prevents the handle from rotating on its pivot such that the padlock disables the circuit breaker from turning ON by impeding the handle from rotating to an ON-position.

Energy reducing key for electronic trip units

Embodiments provide an Energy Reduction Maintenance Setting (ERMS) key that includes a data connector configured to communicatively couple to a data port of a target device. The ERMS key further includes an illumination device and an actuator mechanism having a base positional state and an actuated positional state. The ERMS key includes logic configured to, upon detecting the actuator mechanism has moved from the base positional state to the actuated positional state, generate and transmit a first data message to the target device through the data connector instructing the target device to enter a protected mode. The logic is further configured to, upon receiving a second data message from the target device over the data connector acknowledging that the target device has successfully entered the protected mode, cause the illumination device to illuminate.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WITH DOOR MOUNTED ROTARY HANDLE AND INTERLOCK MECHANISM
20220028630 · 2022-01-27 ·

An electrical system includes an enclosure for housing an electrical device that is capable of being turned on and off. The enclosure includes a door with an operating handle that, when the door is closed, can be used to turn the electrical device on or off. The operating handle is further operable to displace an interlock mechanism for engagement or disengagement to a busway structure and indicate a status of the electrical device as on, off, or tripped.
