A switch conversion apparatus including an interface device, a mounting plate configured to mount to a toggle switch and including at least one aperture for receiving a toggle arm of a toggle switch, and an actuator plate configured to slidably engage the mounting plate and including at least one aperture for receiving and engaging a toggle arm of a toggle switch when engaged by the interface device so as to transition the state of the switch. Other embodiments of a switch conversion apparatus include one or more mechanical, electrical, and/or pneumatic timers.

A Hall-effect universal control button for a man-machine interface includes a base adapted for mounting on the interface, and a plurality of manually actuable and interchangeable control modules. Each control module is mountable on the base and includes a bipolar magnet. The base includes at least one sensor to detect a magnetic field of the magnet.

A remote-controlled switch cover assembly is described for converting an existing rocker switch into a remote-controlled switch. The remote-controlled switch cover assembly receives a wireless signal to actuate the standard rocker switch and, in response, activates an electric motor that causes a gear train to turn in a first direction. This causes a wiper to engage an under-surface of a tilt plate located above the standard rocker switch and, in response, an opposing end of the tit plate depresses the standard rocker switch.

A programmable switch, remote interchangeable back, and toggle switch interchangeable back may be included. The remote interchangeable back may include a casing and a back plate, where the back plate of the remote interchangeable back may not have an opening. The toggle switch interchangeable back may include a casing and a back plate, where the back plate of the toggle switch interchangeable back may include an opening of sufficient size to accommodate a toggle light switch in the on position. The remote interchangeable back and the toggle switch interchangeable back may be interchangeably attachable to and removable from the programmable switch.
