Handheld Closed-Loop Automatic Insulin Delivery System

An all-in-one insulin pen includes a handheld housing that houses a glucose testing module, an insulin delivery module, a wireless communication module, and a microcontroller. The glucose testing module tests a one-time glucose concentration of a patient. The insulin delivery module automatically administers an insulin bolus to the patient based at least in part on the one-time glucose concentration.

SELF-REMOVING ANIMAL DART
20230032234 · 2023-02-02 ·

In one aspect there is provided a self-removing animal injection apparatus for injecting an animal with a liquid medication. The apparatus comprises a shaft having a first end and a syringe. A needle is provided at the first end of the shaft and defines a longitudinal direction. The needle is in fluid communication with the syringe. First and second disengaging members are movable substantially along the longitudinal direction and operable to assist with disengagement of the animal injection apparatus from the animal, once at least some of the liquid medication has been injected into the animal.

Palm Activated Drug Delivery Device

A device configured to administer a medication can comprise a lower housing that includes a housing latch. The device can further comprise a needle guard that is movable relative to the lower housing along a first direction from a first position to a second position so as to expose a needle, and an upper housing supported relative to the lower housing. The upper housing can be configured to move with respect to the lower housing along a second direction from a pre-use position to a dispensed position. The housing latch can releasably interfere with the upper housing when the upper housing is in the pre-use position so as to prevent the upper housing from moving toward the dispensed position, and the movement of the needle guard toward the second position, causes the interference to be removed, thereby allowing the upper housing to move toward the second position.

USE OF IL-1BETA BINDING ANTIBODIES

Use of an IL-1β binding antibody or a functional fragment thereof, especially canakinumab or a functional fragment thereof, or gevokizumab or a functional fragment thereof, and biomarkers for the treatment and/or prevention of cancer with at least partial inflammatory basis, e.g., MDS.

Adjustable Dose Needleless Injector

A needle-free injector, and method of using said injector, for injecting variable, discrete doses of liquids intradermally or transdermally into a subject in need thereof, are provided. The injector comprises a barrel having a front section, an intermediate section and a rear section; and a cap having a rear end connectable to the front section of the barrel and rotatable about the front section of the barrel, the cap having a discharge end for receiving a cartridge containing the liquid to be injected, wherein rotation of the cap about a longitudinal axis of the front section of the barrel adjusts the dose of liquid to be discharged from the cartridge by the injector in iscrete dose units. A piston cap is also provided for adjusting the force of the impact of an injector piston on a plunger on the cartridge.

DEVICE FOR ADMINISTERING A FLUID

A device for administering a fluid can include a cylinder, a piston connected to a piston rod, and a tensioning device connected to the piston rod. The tensioning device includes a ramp which is rotatable via a motor, a ramp track, and a roller which is in contact with the ramp track and which is mounted rotatably in a driver. The driver can be connected to the piston rod via a joint. In a tensioning procedure, the ramp track is rotated such that the roller runs on the region of inclination as far as the second plateau and the piston is thereby moved to its rear end position. In a dispensing procedure, the ramp track is rotated until the roller runs over a transfer region and, on account of the tensioning, is accelerated toward the first plateau and, as a result, the piston is moved toward the an dispensing end.

Volume measuring arrangement

The present disclosure relates in one aspect to a measuring arrangement for measuring a volume occupied by a liquid medium inside a liquid reservoir, the measuring arrangement including a container having an interior volume containing a gas reservoir filled with a gaseous medium and containing a liquid reservoir filled with a liquid medium, wherein the gas reservoir and the liquid reservoir are hermetically separated by an impenetrable separation wall, a volume modulator to induce a volume change of the gas reservoir, a pressure sensor arranged inside the gas reservoir to measure a pressure change of the gaseous medium in response to the volume change of the gas reservoir, and a controller connectable to the pressure sensor, wherein the controller is configured to calculate the volume of the liquid reservoir on the basis of the pressure change and the volume change.

A fluid delivery device includes: a fluid-filled cartridge comprising an outlet; a syringe comprising a substantially cylindrical syringe barrel having an open end and a fluid dispensing end; and a plunger rod configured to be received within the open end of the syringe barrel. The plunger rod comprises: a first end having a sealing member provided in sealing engagement with an inner wall of the syringe barrel such that a first syringe chamber is provided between the first end of the plunger rod and the fluid dispensing end of the syringe barrel; a second end extending out of the open end of the syringe barrel and having a cartridge-receiving chamber having a connection mechanism positioned therein for connecting the outlet of the cartridge thereto. The plunger rod also includes a fluid channel extending from the connection mechanism to the first end of the plunger rod.

Palm activated drug delivery device

Disclosed is a device for the parenteral delivery of a medication, such as a drug. The device includes upper and lower housings in which the upper housing is configured to move relative to the lower housing as a result of application of an external force to permit the user of the device to control the rate at which the drug is administered.

APPARATUSES FOR THE IMPLANTATION OF MEDICAL DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF

A medical device may include a shalt extending between a proximal end and a distal end. The shaft may include a lumen therein. The medical device may include a handle coupled to the proximal end of the shaft and may include a mode selector. The mode selector may be adapted to transition between a first mode and a second mode of the medical device. The medical device may further include a compressed fluid source.
