SYRINGE WITH PRIMING MECHANISM
Syringes are described herein. A syringe includes a syringe body, a first plunger, a biasing member, and a retention member. The syringe body defines a syringe cavity and a syringe port, wherein the syringe port is in fluid communication with the syringe cavity. The first plunger comprises a first plunger shaft extending from the first plunger, the first plunger disposed within the syringe cavity and defining a first chamber in the syringe cavity, wherein the first chamber is in fluid communication with the syringe port. The biasing member is coupled to the first plunger shaft, wherein the biasing member urges the first plunger to advance toward the syringe port. The retention mechanism prevents the biasing member from advancing the first plunger in an engaged position and permits the biasing member to advance the first plunger in a released position.
DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE WITH INCREASED SAFETY
A disposable, single-dose delivery device for self-administration by a patient of a predefined amount or dose of drug from a reservoir through an outlet of the reservoir includes a device operation lock to prevent a delivery operation of the delivery device as shipped to the patient, an embedded electronic control unit with a wireless receiver for receiving an unlock command or message, and an electromechanical actuator for mechanically unlocking the device operation lock and enabling delivery device operation by the patient. The control unit is configured to activate the actuator instantaneously and unconditionally upon receipt of the unlock command. The unlocking mechanism of the delivery device is adapted to be activated from remote in response to a confirmative message indicative of additional double check by a Health Care Professional HCP or expert system.
Device for Controlled Injection Across a Variety of Material Properties
Described herein is a generalized injection device for delivering formulations of various mechanical properties to precise locations. Of particular interest is the manifestation intended for the application of a thermally responsive hydrogel to the tear duct for the purpose of occlusion, as a treatment for symptoms associated with dry eye syndrome. Further, a modular solution to the need for an injection device across a variety of applications, mechanism, and physical considerations is provided. This disclosure provides examples of methods for precise injection of low volumes, moisture retention in pre-filled injection devices, and actuation for automatic or manual injection, to name a few.
Auto-injector
An auto-injector is provided which includes a housing with a syringe slidably received therein. The syringe has a barrel with a piston movable therein and a needle extending therefrom. The piston is releasably secured to one end of a plunger which is slidably secured within a body in the housing and is operable through a bias provided by a motive source. In use, the plunger moves under the bias from a loaded condition to a discharged condition to move the syringe so that the needle extends from a tip at an injection end of the housing and to slide the piston within the barrel to expel the contents of the syringe. The plunger is held in the loaded condition against the bias by a detent extending from the body and which can be selectively released by operation of an actuator when pressure is applied to the tip.
MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE WITH USAGE MONITORING
A medicament delivery device is presented having a housing that is arranged to accommodate a medicament container, a drive unit operably arranged to act on the medicament container upon activation, an activation mechanism operably arranged to be operated by a user, an activation preventing mechanism operably arranged to prevent the activation mechanism to be activated, an usage management module arranged to be operated by a user, which usage management module is designed as an attachable unit to the medicament delivery device. First keying elements are arranged on the device and on the usage management module designed to interact with each other when attaching said usage management module, such as to cause a deactivation of the activation preventing mechanism to allow operation of the activation mechanism. The usage management module can include a monitoring circuit arranged to monitor the use of the medicament delivery device.
Autoinjector with a needle cover
The invention relates to an autoinjector 59 for administering a fluid medicament to a subject comprising: a housing 1 for receiving a cartridge holder; a driver assembly 8; the driver assembly on actuation may move the cartridge 3 forward in the cartridge holder 2; a needle cover 4 may be coupled to the housing wherein the needle cover 4 travels in a linear or translational movement; said needle cover 4 is adapted to protect a needle when the needle cover may be in first locking position 17 and second locking position 18; the linear or translational movement may be achieved by a cam profile 13 and a cam follower 14; the cam profile 13 may be provided on outside surface of housing and the cam follower 14 located between the needle cover 4 and the housing 1; a first biasing member 15; and a second biasing member 16 configured to bias the cartridge 3 and the needle cover 4 respectively; and a safety cap 11 to control the actuation of the autoinjector. The needle cover 4 further comprises a sleeve 91 or sleeve 92 which prevents or inhibits the obstruction of the movement of needle cover 4 when the user accidentally hold the needle cover 4 during actuation of the autoinjector.
AUTOMATIC INJECTOR
An automatic injector dispenses a predetermined dose of medicament without a user having to manually force the needle into an injection site. The automatic injector includes a needle cover having a locked retracted position with respect to the injector housing prior to a medicament dispensing operation. The needle cover is operative to engage an injection site prior to a medicament dispensing operation.
GAP CREATION DEVICE
A plunger assembly (100) for use with an auto-injector and comprising: a cartridge (102); and a firing assembly (103) comprising a plunger rod (104) and a drive portion (105), the firing assembly (103) being axially moveable relative to the cartridge (102), wherein the firing assembly (103) is configured to couple to the cartridge (102) at a coupling point along a length of the cartridge (102) to fix an axial position of the drive portion (105) relative to the cartridge (102), and wherein the length of the cartridge (102) is configured to be extended in a rearward direction such that the coupling point and a forward end (106) of the plunger rod (104) move rearwards.
Two-stage reconstituting injector
