A rotating switch contact apparatus has an apparatus housing; a contact housing; a housing bearing provided in the contact apparatus housing, the housing being rotatably mounted in the bearing; and a contact bridge mounted in the housing, rotating with the latter and having, at each end, a stationary mating contact receptacle, receptacles protruding from housing openings so the receptacles engage stationary mating contacts during contact housing rotation and may produce electrical contact between stationary mating contacts via the contact bridge. At least one spring terminal is arranged between the housing and bridge, which is resiliently mounted in the housing approximately perpendicular to the apparatus rotational plane. The contact housing is approximately cylindrical and at least partially has, on its lateral surface, a gearwheel section, and has an opening through which the gearwheel section projects, so the housing is rotationally movable for contact opening or closing between stationary mating contacts and receptacles via a gearwheel engaging in the gearwheel section.

The slider has a movable contact. The circuit substrate has a plurality of fixed contacts that are brought into contact with, and are electrically connected to, the movable contact when the slider rotates or slides.

The screw may also pass through the screw hole of the support structure to hold the switch structure near the button member. A clip may have a spring. A metal plate may prevent the clip from becoming worn by the spring. A display may be mounted on a ledge in a device housing. The ledge may have gaps with supports and removed corners.

Button integration for an electronic device

This application relates to various button related embodiments for use with a portable electronic device. In some embodiments, a snap clip can be integrated with a button bracket to save space where two separate brackets would take up too much space in the portable electronic device. In other embodiments, a tactile switch can be waterproofed by welding a polymeric layer atop a tactile switch assembly. In this way water can be prevented from contacting moisture sensitive components of the tactile switch assembly. The weld joining the polymeric layer to the tactile switch can include at least one gap to trapped gas surrounding the tactile switch assembly to enter and exit during heat excursions caused by various operating and/or assembly operations.
