High voltage test terminal with guard electrode and guard insulation layer
A high-voltage test terminal includes a first conductor, a second conductor, and a primary insulator disposed between and coupled to the first and second conductors. A blade is movably connected to the second conductor. The blade is electrically and mechanically connected to the first conductor in a first position and electrically isolated and mechanically disconnected from the first conductor in a second position. A guard insulation layer is disposed between the primary insulator and the first conductor.
Insulation inspecting device
An insulation inspection device includes: a conveyance unit that conveys a laminated electrode in which a first separator, a first electrode plate, a second separator, and a second electrode plate are laminated; a pressure roll that presses the laminated electrode against the conveyance unit; a first terminal electrically connected to the first electrode plate; a second terminal electrically connected to the second electrode plate, further electrically connected to the conveyance unit when the first separator is disposed on the conveyance unit side, and further electrically connected to the pressure roll when the first separator is disposed on the pressure roll side; and an insulation inspection unit that applies a voltage to the laminated electrode to inspect insulation condition of the laminated electrode.
System and method to generate multi-level voltage pulses for electrical insulation testing
A system and method to generate high voltage pulses for testing of electrical insulation is presented. The system is comprised of multiple bridges in series that are connected across the insulation through an output inductor. The switching of the bridges are timed to allow a resonant half-cycle of current through the output inductor and the effective capacitance of the insulation which results in a transition of the voltage across the insulation from one level to another. The sequence of switching of the bridges is swapped intermittently such that the dc links of the bridges are substantially kept balanced. In one embodiment, only the dc link of the first bridge is supplied from an external source, while the other bridges are fed via the chain of series bridges from the first bridge through the switching operation of the circuit.
Fuse link exhaust systems and methods
A power fuse assembly includes a fuse mounting, a fuse unit, and a hinge assembly. The fuse unit is configured to carry current from a line connection to a load connection. The hinge assembly is configured to be removeably coupled to the fuse unit and to allow rotation of the fuse unit relative to the fuse mounting. The hinge assembly including: an inlet configured to accept incoming gases produced by the fuse unit in response to an overload event, the inlet having a first orientation; an outlet in fluid communication with the inlet, the outlet having a second orientation that is not equal to the first orientation; and a diverter component disposed between the inlet and the outlet, the diverter configured to guide the flow of the gases between the inlet and the outlet.
Switch-fuse module
A switch-fuse module and a ring main unit. The switch-fuse module includes: a housing having therein a first enclosure including a first insulating gas and a second enclosure including a second insulating gas; at least one switch disconnector arranged within the first enclosure; and at least one fuse at least partially surrounded by the second enclosure; wherein each of the first insulating gas and the second insulating gas has a global warming potential less than a global warming potential of SF6, and the first enclosure is different and separate from the second enclosure.
Switch-fuse module
A switch-fuse module and a ring main unit. The switch-fuse module includes: a housing having therein a switch enclosure including an insulating gas and a cable compartment that is different and separate from the switch enclosure; at least one switch disconnector arranged within the switch enclosure; and at least one fuse canister with a vertically oriented longitudinal axis; wherein the fuse canister i) is adapted to receive a fuse, and ii) is arranged within the cable compartment, and the insulating gas has a global warming potential less than a global warming potential of SF6.
Fuse cutout cover with extendable roof
In one embodiment, a fuse cutout cover has an integral roof portion. The roof portion covers the energized top of a fuse in a first type of cutout. An attachable roof extension covers the energized top of a fuse in a larger second type of cutout. By having the optional roof extension feature, the same cover may be used with two types of cutouts. The roof extension is connected using a cruxiform connector on the bottom surface of the roof portion that tightly fits into a hole in the roof extension. To prevent an air gap between the cruxiform connector and the hole in the roof extension, the bottom of the hole is sealed. This prevents flashovers through the air gap. As a result, electrical insulation between wildlife and the energized cutout is increased.
Radioimaging for real-time tracking of high-voltage breakdown
An interferometric radioimager provides real-time, high-fidelity radioimaging of high voltage breakdown (HVB) both internal and external to electrical components at sub-nanosecond and sub-millimeter resolution and has an ability to resolve multiple/spatially-extensive HVB simultaneously. Therefore, radioimaging can be used to screen for early life weakness/failure and enable non-destructive screening of defective electrical components. In particular, radioimaging can detect precursors to catastrophic HVB, allowing for early detection of weakness in critical electrical components. Radioimaging can also be used to track HVB and pinpoint defects in electrical components real time, including transformers, capacitors, cables, switches, and microelectronics.
