SUBRETINAL INJECTION APPARATUS
20180049916 · 2018-02-22 · ·

A subretinal injection device having an injection syringe with a needle adapted for injection behind the retina of an eye. The syringe includes a barrel defining a chamber, an injection needle fluidly connected to the chamber, and a plunger having an inner end and an outer end. The internal end forms an end to the chamber in the syringe. An air pump is fluidly connected to the outer end of the plunger so that air pressure controls the actuation of the syringe.

An injection device for the self-administration of an injection of solution that includes a body portion/handle configured for engagement with a cartridge containing the solution and an injection needle. The injection device includes a safety mechanism whereby ejection of solution from the injection device cannot be done unless the safety mechanism is released. The injection device further involves two-stage deployment whereby a needle may be inserted upon release of the safety mechanism and solution is injected upon full insertion of the needle.

The present disclosure relates to syringe cartridges containing a predetermined quantity of a first drug (e.g., sodium bicarbonate having a low moisture content) and to syringe systems and kits containing the syringe cartridge. As described herein, the disclosed syringe cartridges, systems, and kits can be useful in, for example, administering a second drug (e.g., a caine such as lidocaine) and/or to reconstitute the first drug. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.

Drug delivery assembly with sensor sampling feature

A drug delivery assembly comprising a sensor system in combination with an indicator arranged to rotate, the amount of rotation being indicative of the size of an expelled dose amount. The sensor system comprises a sensor assembly adapted to measure a rotational position and/or a rotational movement of the indicator, the sensor assembly comprising a sensor element adapted to be operated at a non-constant sampling frequency. A processor is configured to determine on the basis of measured values from the sensor element rotational position(s) and/or amount of rotational movement of the indicator, as well as rotational speed of the indicator. To optimize energy consumption the processor is configured to dynamically control the sampling frequency in response to the determined rotational speed.

INJECTION APPARATUS AND METHOD

Methods and devices useful for intraarticular or other targeted injection of medication, for example, into an anatomical area. A surgical apparatus may facilitate such injections and may also function as a Steinmann pin or an intramedullary pin. The apparatus may have an outer shell and an inner pin. The inner pin and the outer shell may cooperatively engage to provide a first configuration and a second configuration. In the first configuration the inner pin and the outer shell may be aligned along a longitudinal axis, the inner pin may be disposed within the outer shell, allowing other surgical instruments to slide over the apparatus. In the second configuration the inner pin may be disposed outside of the outer shell and a substance may be injected into the outer shell, for example, via a syringe.

Smart wearable injection and/or infusion device

A delivery device for delivering a medical fluid to a patient has a housing configured for receiving a container at least partially filled with the medical fluid. The delivery device further has a drive mechanism associated with the housing configured for delivering the medical fluid from the container to the patient in a dosing procedure. The delivery device further has a module configured for detecting at least one of a property of the dosing procedure and a property of the medical fluid. The module has at least one dose detection sensor configured for detecting an initiation, progression, and completion of the dosing procedure based on a position of a stopper within the container. The module further has at least one temperature sensor configured for measuring a temperature of the medical fluid within the container based on a temperature of the container.

Micro-volume injectors with dose guidance and methods for use

Injector devices and methods for using them to deliver medicament into a patient's body, e.g., sub-retinally within an eye, are provided. The injector includes a cartridge including a piston slidably disposed within an interior for delivering medicament within the interior through an outlet, and a driver including a plunger coupled to the piston, a source of pressurized fluid, and an actuator member for opening a flow path at least partially between the source and the plunger to advance the plunger and piston to deliver medicament from the interior. One or more sensors are operatively coupled to the plunger to measure displacement of the plunger, a processor is coupled to the sensor(s) for analyzing sensor signals to measure volume of medicament delivered from the interior, and an output device, e.g., one or more LEDs or speakers, provide outputs related to the volume of medicament delivered.

Piston for a Cartridge for Use in a Drug Delivery Device

The present invention relates to a piston for a cartridge to be filled with a medicament, the piston comprising: a first piston member (12) comprising a first material and forming a distal end face (22) of the piston, a second piston member (14) comprising a second material of lower compressibility compared to the first material, wherein the second piston member (14) is arranged in a cupped receptacle (16) of the first piston member (12) and provides a thrust receiving surface (25) at a proximal end (24) of the piston.

Syringe screening device

The present disclosure is directed to a device for screening pre-filled syringes configured to determine whether a stopper position within each syringe falls within an acceptable tolerance prior to final assembly of a syringe into a corresponding autoinjector device, thereby ensuring proper fit of the syringe within the autoinjector device and further ensuring accurate delivery of a desired dose of fluid from the syringe during operation of the autoinjector.
