SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DISPENSING FLOWABLE HEMOSTATS THAT INCORPORATE SAFETY MECHANISMS FOR PREVENTING AIR EMBOLISMS
20220313948 · 2022-10-06 ·

A dispensing system includes a hollow tube having an outer wall with an air vent formed in the outer wall. A valve including a flexible flap is disposed inside the tube. The flexible flap, normally biased into a retracted position, is moveable between an extended position for sealing the air vent and the retracted position for unsealing the air vent. A syringe connector interconnects a syringe with the proximal end of the hollow tube and defines a fluid flow path. A flowable viscous fluid is disposed within the syringe. When a syringe plunger is depressed, the flowable viscous fluid is expelled from the syringe and forced through the fluid flow path and into the proximal end of the hollow tube. When the flowable viscous fluid engages the flexible flap, the flexible flap is forced to move into a position that seals the air vent.

Syringe with priming mechanism

Syringes are described herein. A syringe includes a syringe body, a first plunger, a biasing member, and a retention member. The syringe body defines a syringe cavity and a syringe port, wherein the syringe port is in fluid communication with the syringe cavity. The first plunger comprises a first plunger shaft extending from the first plunger, the first plunger disposed within the syringe cavity and defining a first chamber in the syringe cavity, wherein the first chamber is in fluid communication with the syringe port. The biasing member is coupled to the first plunger shaft, wherein the biasing member urges the first plunger to advance toward the syringe port. The retention mechanism prevents the biasing member from advancing the first plunger in an engaged position and permits the biasing member to advance the first plunger in a released position.

Method and Apparatus for Wetting Internal Fluid Path Surfaces of a Fluid Port to Increase Ultrasonic Signal Transmission
20170361017 · 2017-12-21 ·

A method for readying a fluid sensor associated with a medical device includes attaching a flow restrictor to a fluid outlet of the fluid sensor. The fluid sensor includes a fluid channel, a fluid inlet at a first end of the fluid channel configured to couple to an outlet of an administrable fluid source, and the fluid outlet at a second end of the fluid channel. Fluid is delivered from the administrable fluid source to the fluid channel through the fluid inlet. A syringe actuation device including a force limiting device may be used to deliver the fluid. The fluid is pressurized in the fluid channel between the fluid inlet and the flow restrictor to wet an interior surface of the fluid channel with the fluid. The flow restrictor is removed from the fluid outlet.

IN-LINE AIR BUBBLE SUSPENSION FOR ANGIOGRAPHY INJECTOR FLUID PATHS
20230191041 · 2023-06-22 ·

An apparatus (300) for suspending air bubbles in a fluid path of a fluid injector system includes an internal chamber (320) having a curved interior wall (322) defined within the housing (310), an inlet fluid pathway in fluid communication with the internal chamber, and an outlet fluid pathway in fluid communication with the internal chamber. The inlet fluid pathway extending into the chamber at a tangent to the curved interior wall, and the outlet fluid pathway spaced from the inlet fluid pathway such that fluid flowing into the internal chamber via the inlet fluid pathway is directed away from the outlet fluid pathway. The internal chamber is configured to create an internal fluid vortex in an injection fluid entering the internal chamber from the inlet fluid pathway, and wherein the internal fluid vortex at least temporarily suspends air bubbles in the fluid in the internal vortex and delays the passage of the air bubbles to the outlet fluid pathway.

SYRINGE APPARATUS FOR TRANSFERRING LIQUIDS INTO AND OUT OF A VIAL HAVING A SEPTUM

An apparatus for transferring a chosen quantity of medication from a vial to a container under sterile conditions is described. The present invention further facilitates dissolving solid medications contained in the vial or diluting concentrated medications contained in the vial, and transferring the resulting solutions to the container. The container may be an intravenous infuser.

Medical device including an air evacuation system

Medical device assemblies capable of aspirating liquid into a syringe barrel or other medical devices while evacuating any air from the syringe are described. An exemplary medical device includes a syringe barrel, plunger rod and stopper assembly having an air permeable and liquid impermeable porous portion and structure for forming a vacuum within either the stopper or the plunger rod. Described is a medical device including a syringe barrel, plunger rod and stopper assembly having an air permeable and liquid impermeable porous portion and structure for forming a vacuum within chamber between the stopper and plunger rod wherein the plunger rod includes a sealing edge and is moveable relative to the stopper. Exemplary medical devices may include a vent for allowing air that permeates through the porous portion to escape to atmosphere. Methods for aspirating a syringe barrel with a liquid are also provided.

CONNECTING ARRANGEMENT FOR CONNECTING A SYRINGE TO A PUMP FOR DRUG INFUSION
20170340810 · 2017-11-30 ·

A connecting arrangement for connecting a syringe to an electromechanical pump for drug infusion is provided. The syringe comprises a hollow cylindrical syringe body having a first, tapered open end for discharging the drug and a second open end. The syringe body is surrounded by connecting means arranged to firmly connect the syringe to the pump in a removable manner, an axially sliding plunger being housed in the syringe body for causing suction and injection of the drug through the first end. The pump comprises a pump body housing electromechanical members comprising a sliding rod partially projecting out of the pump body to cause sliding of the plunger within the syringe body of the syringe connected to the pump. The pump body being provided with connecting means arranged to receive in an engaging configuration the syringe body. The connecting means provided on the pump body comprise a cylindrical collar axially extending around the sliding rod and being internally provided with engaging elements, the collar defining a sealing end. The connecting means surrounding the syringe body comprise engaging elements arranged to cooperate with the engaging elements provided in the collar for firmly connecting the syringe to the pump in a removable manner. An annular flange extends radially around the syringe body. The flange cooperates with the sealing end defined in the collar to establish a tight sealing between the syringe body and the collar, whereby, when the syringe is attached to the pump, any moisture that may be present in the surrounding environment outside the pump and the syringe attached thereto does not penetrate into the pump body.
