MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING DRUGS TO INFANTS AND CHILDREN

A method of delivering epinephrine includes placing a distal end surface of a medical injector into contact with a target location of a patient. The medical injector includes a housing, an energy storage member, and a medicament container containing a dose of epinephrine effective for administration to the patient experiencing anaphylaxis and having a weight of less than 15 kg. The medicament container is coupled to a needle. The medical injector is actuated such that the energy storage member produces a force to move the needle from a first needle position to a second needle position. A distal tip of the needle extends from the distal end surface by a distance of between 7 millimeters and 8 millimeters when the needle is in the second needle position. A portion of the force is exerted to expel the dose of epinephrine when the needle is in the second position.

More specifically, the anti-foaming needle assembly includes a needle base having: a first end and opposite thereto a second end and a sidewall there between, the second end structured and arranged for temporary connection to a syringe having a barrel and a plunger; a first needle having a hollow shaft and a first length extending from the first end to provide an open distal end above the first end, the first needle having a second end vented through the sidewall; and a second needle having a hollow shaft and a second length extending from the first end generally parallel to the first needle to provide, when inverted, a distal end above the first end and below the distal end of the first needle, the second needle having a second end in fluid communication with the second end of the needle base. An associated method of use is also provided.

Single use delivery device having a primer element

A single use delivery device is disclosed having a manually deformable liquid container defining an inner chamber, the container having a distal end, a body, a proximal end, and an outlet on the distal end; a tip projecting from the outlet on the distal end of the container, the tip in fluid communication with the inner chamber of the container; and a primer element for removing one or more air bubbles from the chamber, said primer element being attached to and in fluid communication with the deformable container. A method of administering a fluid to or flushing a vascular access device using a single use pre-filled delivery device as described herein is also disclosed.

THREE-POSITION PLUNGERS, FILM COATED PLUNGERS AND RELATED SYRINGE ASSEMBLIES

A three-position plunger is provided including a sleeve having an opening at a distal end, a pre-load cavity proximal to and in communication with the opening, a first cavity proximal to and in communication with the pre-load cavity, a second cavity proximal to and in communication with the pre-load cavity, and at least one rib. The rib(s) is generally aligned with the first cavity. The plunger further includes an insert configured to be displaced from the pre-load cavity to the first cavity and from the first cavity to the second cavity. The insert is configured to provide support for the compression of the rib(s) when the insert is positioned in the first cavity.

REUSABLE AUTOMATIC INJECTION DEVICE

A user-powered medicament injector including a reusable, user-powered automatic injection assembly including a user energizable medicament injection subassembly and a medicament module removably insertable into the reusable, user-powered automatic injection assembly and including a module housing adapted to receive a syringe having a barrel, a needle engaged to said barrel, and a removable needle cap covering the needle; a needle shield configured to be moveable with respect to the module housing and a needle cap remover associated with the needle shield. The medicament module is configured for energizing the user energizable medicament injection subassembly by insertion of the medicament module into the reusable, user powered automatic injection assembly.

DRUG INJECTION DEVICE

A cartridge adapter includes: a cartridge holder having a space that can accommodate therein a drug cartridge, the drug cartridge including a cylinder having a tubular internal space extending in a longitudinal direction, a gasket supported in the internal space so as to be movable in the longitudinal direction, and a drug held in the internal space; a piston that moves the gasket in the longitudinal direction in the internal space of the cylinder; a piston guide that movably supports the piston and connected to the cartridge holder; and a piston driving mechanism that drives the piston in the longitudinal direction.

A drug delivery device is disclosed that includes a housing including a channel, a drug reservoir fitting into the channel, and a friction element extending from a housing to the channel to contact an exterior side wall of the reservoir when the reservoir is inserted into the channel. The friction element is configured and oriented to wedge between the exterior wall and the reservoir when the reservoir is rotated in a first rotational direction.

MULTI-USE DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE FOR DRUGS WITH LESS PRESERVATIVES

A multi-use drug delivery device for extended use, wherein the multi-use drug delivery device comprising a multi-use main portion (310) and a single-use flow conducting device (360) adapted for conducting drug to the subcutaneous tissue of a subject, wherein the change from a connected configuration to an unconnected configuration of the main portion and the flow conducting device is through the intermediate configuration. The intermediate configuration comprises an equalizing channel defining an equalizing flow path (304) different from an unintended flow path (303). The equalizing channel is adapted for equalizing the fluid pressure in a fluid communication volume (301) to the fluid pressure in the external environment, upon changing the configuration from the connected to the intermediate configuration and thereby expanding an internal volume, whereby an equalizing fluid flow along the equalizing flow path is larger than an unintended flow along the unintended flow path, whereby equalization of the fluid communication volume is provided with a reduced risk of introducing microorganisms from the flow channel (362) into the reservoir (311).
