HAZARDOUS LOCATION COMPLIANT CIRCUIT PROTECTION DEVICES HAVING ENHANCED SAFETY INTELLIGENCE, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Compliant electrical circuit protection devices are described for use in hazardous environments without presenting ignition risks for potentially explosive environmental conditions. Sensing features and systems may evaluate wiring limits and user selected settings for compatibility, detect loose connections and operating parameters to ensure safe operation of the device, and to intelligently diagnose and manage issues of concern for the circuit protection devices as well as the larger electrical power system.
COOLING SYSTEM FOR ENCLOSURE FOR ELECTRICAL NETWORK PROTECTION ELEMENT
The disclosure generally relates to an exemplary cooling system for an enclosure that can house an electrical network protection element and provide protection to the electrical network protection element against damage in various environments such as when the enclosure is placed in an underground vault that may be flooded during rain, or when a liquid (oil, for example) comes in contact with the enclosure. The exemplary cooling system may include a coolant reservoir, one or more false walls coupled to the exterior of the enclosure, one or more pancake panels coupled to the false walls through one or more header pipes, and one or more coolant pipes for circulating coolant from the coolant reservoir, through the one or more pancake panels, false walls, and header pipes, and back to the coolant reservoir. The cooling system may only be in contact with the exterior portion of the enclosure. That is, the cooling system may not directly contact the electronics within the enclosure.
CIRCUIT PROTECTION DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EXPLOSIVE ENVIRONMENT COMPLIANCE
Solid state and hybrid circuit protection devices include improved chemical, static discharge and impact resistant housing construction, arc-free switching operation, secure terminal assemblies and thermal management features. The solid state and hybrid circuit protection devices are ignition protected and avoid possible explosions and therefore obviate a need for conventional explosion-proof enclosures to ensure safe operation of an electrical power system in a potentially explosive environment.
HAZARDOUS LOCATION COMPLIANT CIRCUIT PROTECTION DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS WITH SAFETY LOCKOUT/TAGOUT COMPONENTS
Hazardous location compliant solid state circuit protection devices include safety lockout components ensuring disconnection as a safeguard in the completion of power system maintenance and service tasks by responsible personnel. The safety lockout components may include a mechanical lockout interfacing with a physical lock element, an electrical lockout implemented through the controls of the solid state circuit breaker device, and combinations thereof. Visual device feedback and confirmation may be provided to personnel that the lockouts have been successfully activated, as well as successfully deactivated to reconnect and restore operation of the load side circuitry.
COMPLIANT, HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENT CIRCUIT PROTECTION DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Solid state and hybrid circuit protection devices include improved arc-less switching capability and overcurrent protection, improved terminal assemblies and improved thermal management features that reduce or eliminate ignition sources for hazardous environments. The solid state and hybrid circuit protection devices are ignition protected and avoid possible explosions and therefore obviate a need for conventional explosion-proof enclosures to ensure safe operation of an electrical power system in hazardous locations.
CONFIGURABLE MODULAR HAZARDOUS LOCATION COMPLIANT CIRCUIT PROTECTION DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Modular circuit protection devices and configurable panelboard systems include arc-free operation, thermal management features providing safe operation in hazardous environments at lower cost and without requiring conventional explosion-proof enclosures and without entailing series connected separately provided packages such as circuit breaker devices and starter motor contactors and controls.
Circuit breaker with slide to test function
A fault detector test device includes a test switch including a pivotable lever arm having a first end pivotably connected to rotate about an axis and a second end pivotable in an arc around the axis between an active position and an inactive position. A slide member has a first end accessible by an operator and a second end that cooperates with the second end of the lever arm, the slide member being slideable with respect to the axis of the lever arm such that the second end of the slide member slides in a plane that is substantially tangential to the arc in which the second end of the lever arm pivots. The second end of the slide member and the second end of the lever arm cooperate such that generally planar sliding motion of the slide member is translated into pivoting motion of the lever arm.
ELECTRIC FUSE BOX OR JUNCTION BOX ASSEMBLY WITH A HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRIC LINE CUTTER DEVICE
An electric fuse box or junction box assembly has a high voltage electric line cutter assembly inside an electric fuse box or junction box. The assembly has a box housing for connecting a plurality of electrical lines or connections to a power source. The housing has a pair of mounting stanchions for affixing the high voltage electric line cutter assembly with an electric current carrying busbar having a pair of stub ends. Each stub end of the busbar for carrying electric current from the power source to the plurality of electrical lines is secured to one of the mounting stanchions. Each mounting stanchion has an attachment platform for attaching and supporting the stub end of the busbar and an underlying chamber below the attachment platform for receiving exhaust gases generated when the high voltage electric line cutter assembly is activated.
Circuit breaker
A circuit breaker is for interrupting an electric circuit if settable protective parameters are exceeded. In an embodiment, the circuit breaker includes an electronic trip unit, in which the set protective parameters are stored, with a movable sealing pane, which covers at least part of the circuit breaker. The circuit breaker further includes a sensor with which a first state of the sealing pane can be ascertained. The electronic trip unit is designed such that changes to the protective parameters are accepted by the electronic trip unit only in the first state of the sealing pane.
Replaceable electrical protection system for equipment under load
The present disclosure relates to an electrical protection system , including a breaker enclosure and associated terminals, and the methods of use therefor that allow for a circuit breaker or other electrical protection device to be safely added or removed from a circuit while power is supplied to at least one of the terminals. The disclosed enclosure and terminals include a series of interrelated safety features that prevent a user from accidentally completing the circuit from one terminal to another when the electrical protection system would be in an unsafe state. The combination of features described herein allow for a replaceable electrical protection device for equipment under load to be realized, thus improving user safety.
