METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING THE CAUSE OF TRIPPING OF AN ELECTRICAL PROTECTION DEVICE, AUXILIARY DEVICE AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FOR IMPLEMENTING SUCH A METHOD
A method for diagnosing the cause of tripping of an electrical protection device includes, after detection by the auxiliary device of a loss of electrical power, determining a type of electrical fault on the basis of recorded values, the determining operation including: comparing, with a first threshold value, the largest value of the maximum intensity of the current from the recorded values for a plurality of measurement intervals preceding the loss of power, a short circuit being diagnosed if the largest value of the maximum intensity is greater than a first threshold value; comparing, with a second threshold value, the largest RMS value of the current from the recorded values, an overload being diagnosed if the largest RMS value is greater than a second threshold value.
Remote Operated Ground Fault Circuit Breaker
A circuit interrupter electrically connects a line terminal to a load terminal in a closed condition and electrically disconnects the line terminal from the load terminal in the open condition. A controller includes a fault detector configured to detect a fault in an electrical signal in a load circuit, such that when a fault is detected on the load circuit, the fault detector causes actuation of the interrupter to the open condition. The controller is adapted to receive an off command, and in response to the off command, generate a simulated fault in the load circuit, such that the fault detector causes actuation of the interrupter to the open condition, such that one and the same interrupter is employed for both fault tripping and commanded tripping.
Electronic protection device
An electronic protection device for a LV electric line including at least a phase conductor and a neutral conductor, comprising: input terminals and output terminals, at which said electronic protection device is electrically connected respectively with an electric power source and with an electric load through said phase and neutral conductors; a control unit comprising a controller including data processing resources; one or more pairs of main contacts electrically connected with corresponding one or more input and output terminals and adapted to be mutually coupled or separated; one or more pairs of auxiliary contacts electrically connected with corresponding one or more input terminals and with said control unit and adapted to be mutually coupled or separated; a handle movable in a first position corresponding to a closed state of said electronic protection device, in a second position corresponding to a tripped state of said electronic protection device or in a third position corresponding to an open state of said electronic protection device; an operating mechanism adapted to operate said main contacts, said auxiliary contacts and said handle; a tripping unit adapted to actuate said operating mechanism in response to an activation by said control unit. Said main contacts and said auxiliary contacts are coupled when said electronic protection device is in said closed state with said handle in said first position. Said main contacts are separated and said auxiliary contacts are coupled when said electronic protection device is in said tripped state with said handle in said second position. Said main contacts and said auxiliary contacts are separated when said electronic protection device is in said open state with said handle in said third position.
METHOD FOR DETECTING FAULTS IN A SWITCH ASSEMBLY, DEVICE, COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT, AND COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIUM
A method for detecting faults in a switch assembly comprising at least one switch for monitoring the position of a component that can be moved by means of a drive which has an electric motor. The method has the following steps: shifting the movable component from a first position to a second position spatially separated from the first position, wherein the power consumption of the electric motor changes in a previously specified manner, and wherein the switch state of the switch during a proper functioning of the switch changes in a previously specified manner, analyzing the power consumption of the electric motor and the switch state of the switch in an analysis unit, and triggering a fault action if the power consumption of the electric motor has changed in the previously specified manner and the switch state of the switch has not changed in the previously specified manner.
Power switch enclosure
A power switch including a contact configured to selectively electrically connect a line input to a load output, a switch configured to selectively control the contract, and an indicator. The contact has a closed position in which the line input is electrically connected to the load output, and an open position in which the line input is not electrically connected to the load output. The switch has an on position wherein the contact is controlled to be in the closed position, and an off position wherein the contact is controlled to be in the open position. The indicator provides a normal on status, a normal off status, and an error on status.
