Example bases are described. One example base includes an insulating housing, where the insulating housing has a first surface and a second surface that are away from each other. The first surface is configured for a detachable connection of a circuit breaker. The second surface is provided with a first mounting slot. The insulation housing can be slidably snapped into a mounting rail in power distribution equipment by using the first mounting slot. An accommodating cavity is provided in the insulation housing. The accommodating cavity is configured to accommodate a conductive connection member. One end of the accommodating cavity is open along a sliding direction of the insulating housing relative to the mounting rail, and the other end thereof is closed. The base is used to install the circuit breaker.

Selective coordination of solid-state circuit breakers and mechanical circuit breakers in electrical distribution systems
11810744 · 2023-11-07 · ·

In an electrical distribution system including a solid-state circuit breaker (SSCB) and one or more downstream mechanical circuit breakers (CBs), a solid-state switching device in the SSCB is repeatedly switched ON and OFF during a short circuit event, to reduce a root-mean-square (RMS) value of the short circuit current. The resulting pulsed short circuit current is regulated in a hysteresis control loop, to limit the RMS to a value low enough to prevent the SSCB from tripping prematurely but high enough to allow one of the downstream mechanical CBs to trip and isolate the short circuit. Pulsing is allowed to continue for a maximum short circuit pulsing time. Only if none of the downstream mechanical CBs is able to trip to isolate the short circuit within the maximum short circuit pulsing time is the SSCB allowed to trip.

ELECTROMECHANICAL ROTARY LATCH FOR USE IN CURRENT INTERRUPTION DEVICES

An electromechanical rotary latch for use in current interruption devices disclosed. In a particular embodiment, a fuse device comprises a rotary latch; a rotatable armature configured to actuate the rotary latch; and a contact configured to change between a set position that allows current flow through the fuse device and a triggered position which interrupts current flow through the fuse device; wherein the fuse device is configured such that when a threshold current level passes through the fuse device, the rotatable armature changes configuration in response to a generated electromagnetic field, which actuates the rotary latch causing the contact to transition to the triggered position.

A circuit interrupter includes a handle, an operating linkage, and a spring that are situated on a housing, with the spring extending between the handle and the operating linkage. The circuit interrupter is movable among an ON position, an OFF position, and a TRIP position, and the operating linkage includes a contact arm that is pivotable with respect to the housing to move a movable contact between an OPEN position and a CLOSED position with respect to a stationary contact. The handle has a toggle point, and when the spring is situated at a first side of the toggle point, the spring biases the contact arm to the ON position. When the spring is situated at a second side of the toggle point, the spring biases the contact arm to the OFF position or the TRIP position.

Breaker plug
11139640 · 2021-10-05 ·

A rail-mountable electrical device having a “plug-in” receptacle for receiving a pluggable power cord in series with the circuit breaker while mounted on a hot bus bar within a breaker panel. In a first embodiment, the AC circuit breaker/receptacle combination device provides an accessible power outlet direct inside the breaker panel, for example during early construction when wiring of peripheral outlets has not been completed. Disclosed in a second embodiment is a dummy breaker body which comprises a plug receptacle and no circuit breaker. The dummy breaker body seats on the hot bus bar in a breaker panel but does not draw electricity directly, and instead is wired in series with a true circuit breaker proximate on the hot bus bar in a cis- or trans-position. The two body parts, dummy breaker body and circuit breaker, function independently but in series electrical connection. In the various embodiments, NEMA-type or aviation-type plug receptacles are conveniently made accessible within the breaker panel using these devices.
