An autoinjector for dispensing a liquid product includes a housing; a product container arranged in the housing, particularly, a syringe comprising a displaceable piston; a drive member; a first spring which acts on the drive member and the piston to dispense the product from the container; signal element releasably axially coupled with the drive member so that the signal element is transported in the dispensing direction as said drive member is displaced; and a second spring, which exerts a spring force on the signal element against the dispensing direction and is tensioned as the signal element is transported in the dispensing direction. When the signal element is released or detached from the axial coupling, the second spring causes the signal element to accelerate opposite the dispensing direction and strike against a signal stop and generate an acoustic and/or tactile signal.

A medication delivery device is disclosed including a rack-and-pinion plunger drive system. The drive system includes an output drive having a pawled end movably coupled with the ratchet teeth of the plunger, and a pinion drive coupled between the housing, the output drive and an actuator. Actuator is longitudinally movable between dose set and delivery positions. Movement of the actuator causes rotation of the pinion drive along the rack to translate the output drive member with the pawled end that is engaged with the plunger ratchet teeth to distally advance the plunger. The device may include one or more of an end of dose mechanism to limit travel of the actuator, a load brake system to stop travel of the plunger under high input forces, a dose detection system, and a dose selector to vary the amount of dose set.

DAMPING SYSTEM FOR AN INJECTION DEVICE

An injection device includes a drive spring within the housing, a first drive component that transfers drive from the drive spring to a plunger disposed within a medicament container, and a damper concentrically arranged with respect to the first drive component. The damper is longitudinally fixed relative to the housing. The first drive component moves along the longitudinal axis relative to the damper under the influence of the drive spring. The damper frictionally engages a surface of the first drive component during movement of the drive component relative to the damper. A method of manufacturing the injection device is also described.

The device also has a drive mechanism arranged to act on a plunger rod, which plunger rod in turn is arranged to act on the medicament container for providing automatic delivery of the medicament and a hold-release mechanism interactively connected to the drive mechanism for releasing the drive mechanism from a biased position. A delayable signal generating mechanism generates an audible and/or tactile and/or visual signal indicating that the medicament has been completely delivered, which delayable signal generating mechanism is operably connected between said pre-tensioned drive mechanism and said plunger rod.

An autoinjector having a body (1; 2), a reservoir (S), a piston (P), a needle (A), and a piston rod (5) co-operating with the piston. The piston rod is movable between a first rest position, a second pricking position, and a third injection position. An actuator spring (6) is provided to urge the piston rod towards its pricking position and then towards its injection position. A force-adjustment system (7, 8) exerts a force (F1, F2) on the piston rod (5). The force (F1) opposes the force exerted by the actuator spring at the end of pricking to decrease the force exerted on the reservoir by the piston rod at the end of pricking, and the force (F2) adding to the force exerted by the actuator spring at the beginning of injection, to amplify the force exerted on the piston by the piston rod at the beginning of injection.

Various embodiments disclosed herein relate to needle-based injectors that incorporate a power assembly comprising a stored energy source and a rate control assembly. The power assembly may be further configured to allow the injection to be performed with more force than a user may be capable of delivering, while also allowing the user to maintain control of the injection process after the stored energy source has been released and the injection has begun, such the user may increase or decrease the rate of injection, or stop the injection, during the injection process. In various embodiments, the power assembly may comprise spring- or gas-based stored energy sources, and/or may comprise friction- or tension-based rate control assemblies. Described herein are also methods for injecting an agent using embodiments of the devices described here.
