The sensing module can be configured to gather data for one or more parameters related to drug delivery and to transmit data indicative of the gathered data to an external source configured to analyze the data received from the sensing module.
PLUNGER ROD AND SYRINGE ADAPTED FOR COMPRESSION FAILURE
A plunger rod (104) for use in connection with a syringe barrel (102) is provided. The plunger rod (104) comprises a distal plunger top (105), having a proximal bottom surface (113), and a proximal elongated shaft (106) comprising a proximal end (107a) adapted to receive an applied force along an axis (1000) and a distal end plate (107b) adapted to transmit said applied force along said axis (1000). The plunger rod (104) is adapted to be inserted into the barrel (102) of a syringe (100) extending along the axis (1000). The distal plunger top (105) and the proximal elongated shaft (106) are connected to each other by a releasable connection (115). The releasable connection (115) comprises: distal top rupture means (116) comprising at least one distal top rib (125a) disposed eccentrically from the axis (1000) on the proximal bottom surface (113), and proximal shaft rupture means (117) comprising at least one proximal shaft rib (125b) disposed eccentrically from the axis (1000) on the distal end plate (107b). Each said at least one distal top rib (125a) is connected to a corresponding at least one proximal shaft rib (125b), said ribs (125a, 125b) being connected at a contact area (118), and wherein said distal top rupture means (116) is configured to detach from the proximal shaft rupture means (117) due to compression failure when the distal plunger top (105) is pushed into a distal end (110) of the barrel (102). A syringe is also provided.
ACCESSORY DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR MEDICINE ADMINISTRATION AND TRACKING
An accessory for use with a medicine delivery device includes a body configured to attach to a medicine delivery device and a user interface disposed on the body and configured to communicate information to a user. In aspects, the user interface includes first and second lights configured to be selectively illuminated and a first symbol associated with the first light. The first light and the first symbol together indicate an action to be performed when the first light is illuminated. In aspects, the user interface includes red, yellow, and green lights configured to be illuminated in sequential time periods after a dose using the medicine delivery device.
DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE HAVING SHOCK ABSORBER
A drug delivery device is provided, including a housing, a drug storage container, a plunger, a plunger biasing member, a releaser, and a shock absorber. The housing defines a longitudinal axis and has an opening. The drug storage container includes a barrel, a stopper, and a delivery member, where the stopper is movably positioned within the barrel. The delivery member is positioned at a distal end of the barrel and has an insertion end configured to extend at least partially through the opening during a delivery state. The plunger is moveable toward the distal end of the drug storage container to engage the stopper and expel a drug from the drug storage container through the delivery member. The plunger biasing member is coupled with the plunger and configured to urge the plunger toward the distal end of the drug storage container. The releaser member has a first position wherein the releaser member prevents the plunger from moving into the delivery state and a second position wherein the releaser member does not prevent the plunger from moving into the delivery state. The shock absorber is configured to absorb an impact force and prevent unintended movement of the releaser member.
MEDICINE ADMINISTRATION IN DYNAMIC NETWORKS
Disclosed herein are techniques related to medicine administration in dynamic networks. The techniques may involve identifying an amount of medicine for delivery to a patient and determining a communication path toward a first medicine administration device of a plurality of medicine administration devices in a mesh network. The plurality of medicine administration devices may further include a second medicine administration device that is prioritized over the first medicine administration device for delivering medicine to the patient. The techniques may further involve causing delivery of the amount of medicine to the patient by the first medicine administration device based on communicating the amount of medicine toward the first medicine administration device via the communication path when the amount of medicine remains undelivered by the second medicine administration device.
Syringe for administering foam
Syringes which are suitable for dispensing and injecting medical foams for sclerotherapy are described and claimed. The syringes of the invention comprise a syringe barrel having a nozzle and a bore to receive a syringe plunger; a syringe plunger defined by a front end and a rear end connected by a tubular walls and having an internal hollow duct between the front end and the rear end, and through which foam can flow; and an injectate chamber formed by insertion of the front end of the plunger into the barrel. The syringes comprise a flow-disruptor arranged to modify the flow of foam as it enters the injectate chamber. In certain embodiments the syringes comprise waste chambers which capture and retain poor quality foam. The syringes are particularly useful for dispensing foams made with little or no nitrogen content and are configured to reduce the risk of air contamination during dispensing the foam. Kits comprising the syringes together with a suitable source of foam and methods of dispensing foam form further aspects of the invention.
