Flow regulating inhaler device
An inhaler device for pulmonary delivery of at least one substance from a drug dose cartridge to an inhaling user, including: a first conduit for conducting a carrier airflow to a proximal opening of a mouthpiece for use by the user; a holder configured to position the dose cartridge within the carrier airflow; and a second conduit for conducting a shunting airflow to the mouthpiece without passing through the dose cartridge position. In some embodiments, a controller connected to a valve controls a rate of carrier airflow, for example by controlling the shunting airflow, based on a sensor indication of airflow rate and a target airflow profile.
Methods, devices and systems for pulmonary delivery of active agents
Provided herein is a method of pulmonary delivering to a subject at least one pharmacologically active agent being in a plant material, which is effected by pulmonary delivering the agent to the subject using a metered dose inhaler device that is configured to vaporize at least one pre-determined vaporized amount of the agent upon controllably heating the plant material, wherein the pre-determined vaporized amount is selected so as to achieve at least one pre-determined pharmacokinetic effect and/or at least one pre-determined pharmacodynamic effect induced by the agent in the subject.
Breath actuated nebulizer
A breath actuated nebulizer for administration of an inhaled medication to a patient is provided with a generally cylindrical body in a horizontal orientation to the patient. Within the body is a Venturi configured to nebulizer a liquid medication in a reservoir. Within the body is a shaft integrated with a baffle and diaphragm that slides horizontally in response to the breathing of a patient. During inhalation by the patient, the diaphragm flexes shifting the baffle over the Venturi, allowing nebulization to occur. When the patient exhales, the diaphragm flexes to a default position in which the baffle is distal to the Venturi, thereby stopping the nebulization. The diaphragm is biased to rest in this default position until the patient inhales again.
Aerosol generator
An aerosol generator for generating an aerosol from a fluid, comprising: a vibratable membrane having a first side for being in contact with the fluid and an opposite second side, the membrane having a plurality of through holes penetrating the membrane in an extension direction from the first side to the second side, whereby the fluid passes the through holes from the first side to the second side when the membrane is vibrated for generating the aerosol at the second side, each through hole having along its extension direction a smallest diameter, a larger diameter that is larger than the smallest diameter and defined by that diameter that is closest to triple, preferably twice said smallest diameter, each through hole having a nozzle portion defined by that continuous portion of the through hole in the extension direction comprising the smallest diameter of the through hole and bordered by the larger diameter of the through hole, wherein the ratio of the total length of each through hole in the extension direction to the length of a respective one of said nozzle portions in the extension direction is at least 4, preferably at least 4.5 and most preferred equal to or larger than 5.
Drug dose cartridge for an inhaler device
Devices and methods are described for preparing, managing, and/or administering metered doses of substances for vaporized administration. In some embodiments, dose cartridges comprising at least one botanical substance include a heating element integrated into the cartridge in close contact with the botanical substance. In some embodiments, cartridge-mounted doses are stored in a magazine, optionally in carousel form, before use. Transport of a cartridge from a magazine to an electrically operated vaporizing chamber which activates the heating element is provided by a mechanical pickup means.
Nasal delivery devices
A nasal delivery device for and a method of delivering substance to a nasal airway of a subject, the nasal delivery device including a mouthpiece (519) through which the subject in use exhales to cause closure of the oropharyngeal velum of the subject; a nosepiece (517) for fitting to a nostril of a subject, the nosepiece including a nozzle (549) through which the substance is in use delivered to the nasal airway; and a manually-actuatable substance supply unit (520) for delivering substance through the nozzle of the nosepiece.
Electronic cigarette having a liquid storage component and a shared central longtiduinal axis among stacked components of a housing, a hollow porous component and a heating coil
An electronic cigarette includes a battery assembly and an atomizer assembly within a housing with the battery assembly electrically connected to the atomizer assembly. The housing has one or more air inlets. A liquid storage component is in contact with a porous component of the atomizer assembly, with the porous component having a run-through hole. A heating wire is in an air flow path through the run-through hole.
RESPIRATORY CARE SYSTEM WITH ELECTRONIC INDICATOR
A respiratory care system includes a user interface. A flow indicator is moveable in response to inhalation and/or exhalation, or both, by a user through the user interface. An electronic indicator is operable in response to an electronic signal transmitted in response to the movement of the flow indicator. Methods of use and assembly are also provided.
INHALABLE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING MACROCYCLIC IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
The present disclosure relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an inhalable immunosuppressive macrocyclic active ingredient for use in the prevention or treatment of a pulmonary disease or condition in a subject, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered to the subject by inhalation in form of an aerosol, and wherein the aerosol is generated by nebulization of the pharmaceutical composition using a nebulizer (100), the nebulizer comprising: a) an aerosol generator (101) comprising: —a fluid reservoir (103) for holding the pharmaceutical composition or an interface configured to connect a fluid reservoir, and —a vibratable membrane (110) having a plurality of apertures, the apertures being adapted to produce an aerosol comprising droplets having a mass median aerodynamic diameter (MMAD) of up to about 15 4.0 μm as measured with a 0.9% (w/v) aqueous solution of sodium chloride; b) a chamber (105) for temporarily accommodating the aerosol generated by the aerosol generator (101), the chamber having an inner lumen with a volume in the range of from about 50 to about 150 ml; and c) a mouthpiece (40) for delivering the aerosol supplied by the nebulizer (100) to the subject, the mouthpiece having an exhalation filter (30).
VAPORIZER INCLUDING A HEATER ASSEMBLY AND DELIVERY DEVICE
A vaporizing assembly for an aerosol-generating system may comprise a delivery device and a heater assembly. The heater assembly may comprise a heat resistive substrate and a heating element. The delivery device is configured to deliver an aerosol-forming substrate to at least a surface of the heat resistive substrate, wherein the heating element is isolated or separated from the aerosol-forming substrate by the heat resistive substrate.
