A disposable cartridge is disclosed for use with an electronic device for producing an aerosol for inhalation by a person. The cartridge comprises a liquid container containing a liquid which when aerosolized is intended for inhalation by a person; and a transducer that, when actuated, causes the liquid from the container to be aerosolized such that the aerosol may be inhaled by a person. In various embodiments, the liquid comprises: a liposomal carrier; a liquid mixture having an active agent entrapped by liposomes; and a liquid mixture comprising a nanodispersion. The liquid may include nicotine, tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabidiol, or nanoparticles formed by an oil droplet covered by a monolayer of phosphatidylcholine. The transducer preferably comprises a mesh material with the transducer and the mesh material forming a piezo mesh disk for aerosolizing the liquid.

Cyclonically cooled and filtered smoking water pipe and method

A hydrodynamically cooled and filtered smoking apparatus is provided having a housing, an inlet pipe, a stirring mechanism, and a flow deflecting body. The housing having at least one wall portion providing a chamber configured to contain a fluid for circulation therein. The inlet pipe has an inlet configured to draw in smoke from a source and an outlet provided within the chamber beneath a top surface of the contained fluid configured to deliver the smoke into the chamber for entrainment within the fluid. The stirring mechanism is provided in the housing and is driven to induce cyclonic circulation of the fluid and the smoke in the chamber. The flow deflecting body has a suction surface with at least one aperture provided in the suction surface and communicating with the inlet pipe. The suction surface is oriented in the fluid to generate hydrodynamic force to draw smoke into the fluid and aerate the fluid by entraining the smoke in the fluid as bubbles. A method is also provided.

Electronic vapour generating device

An electronic vapour generating device and cartridge for use therein is disclosed. The device comprises a housing defining a chamber for receiving a cartridge for holding a liquid for atomisation, and a power source for providing electrical power to an atomiser for atomising the liquid. The device further comprises an actuator which is reconfigurable between a first state in which the actuator electrically isolates the atomiser from the power source and a second state for enabling the generation of the vapour. The device further comprises a mouthpiece which is arranged to fluidly couple with the atomiser for communicating the vapour out from the device for inhalation by a user and which is slidably coupled to the housing. The mouthpiece is reconfigurable between a stowed configuration and an operative configuration and reconfiguration of the mouthpiece between the stowed and operative configuration is arranged to reconfigure the actuator between the first and second state.

Compact Spacer for Metered Dose Inhaler

A spacer device for use with a metered dose inhaler (MDI). The spacer device comprises an aerosol chamber for holding the aerosolized medication sprayed from the MDI. According to one particular design, the aerosol chamber has a forward shell, a rear shell, and an extendable barrel in between. The extendable barrel comprises a flexible plastic sheath that is supported by a coiled wire spring. The spacer device further comprises a mounting bracket to hold the MDI. The mounting bracket holds the MDI such that the spray outlet of the MDI is mated with the aerosol chamber. Also, the assembly is configured such that the aerosol chamber is aligned substantially parallel to the actuator boot of the MDI. During use, the aerosol chamber is folded downward away from the MDI. The aerosol chamber is then extended outward to increase its volume.

DRY POWDER INHALER

A dry powder inhaler with a blister folding device can include a housing to receive a single blister containing a dose of medicament for inhalation by a user, and a mouthpiece through which a dose of medicament is inhaled by a user and a blister opening device. The blister opening device can include a blister support element for supporting a blister containing a dose of medicament for inhalation by a user, and a blister folding element co-operable with the blister support element. The blister folding element and the blister support element can be movable relative to each other between a first position, for insertion of the blister into or onto the blister support element, and a second, burst, position in which the blister folding element has co-operated with the blister support element.

ELECTRONIC BREATH ACTUATED IN-LINE DROPLET DELIVERY DEVICE WITH SMALL VOLUME AMPOULE AND METHODS OF USE

A droplet delivery device with a small volume drug ampoule and related methods for delivering precise and repeatable dosages to a subject for pulmonary use is disclosed. The droplet delivery device is configured to facilitate the ejection of small, e.g., single use, volumes of a therapeutic agent. The droplet delivery device includes a housing, a mouthpiece, a small volume drug ampoule, an ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The droplet delivery device is then actuated to generate a plume of droplets having an average ejected particle diameter within the respirable size range, e.g, less than about 5-6 m, so as to target the pulmonary system of the user. The small volume drug ampoule may include a reservoir which comprises an internal flexible membrane separating two internal volumes, a first background pressure fluid volume and a second drug volume.

DRY POWDER INHALER AND SYSTEM FOR DRUG DELIVERY

A breath-powered, dry powder inhaler, a cartridge, and a pulmonary drug delivery system are provided.
