AN INHALER DEVICE
The present invention relates to inhaler devices (701), and in particular to devices provided with medicament carriers containing individual pockets or blisters of powdered medicament covered by a lidding sheet such as a lidding foil. A common actuator (710) is provided for controlling movement of an indexing system (712,714) for advancing/indexing a dose and an opening system (790,791) for opening a dose such that progression of the opening system (790,791) is disproportional to progression of the indexing system (712,714) during movement of the common actuator (710).
Blister Pack and Inhaler Comprising the Same
Provided is a blister pack for a dry powder inhaler, which dry powder inhaler is configured to deliver a first powder medicament and a second powder medicament different from the first powder medicament. The first and second powder medicaments are contained within blister pockets defined in a strip. A series of blister pockets is defined in the strip, which series extends linearly along the length of the strip. The first and second powder medicaments are contained in blister pockets, e.g. respective blister pockets, of the series. Alternatively or additionally, each of the blister pockets is elongated such as to have a largest dimension parallel with the length of the strip. These measures, either individually or in combination, enable minimizing of the width of the strip in spite of the strip accommodating both the first and second powder medicaments. This, in turn, may enable the depth/thickness of the dry powder inhaler to be minimized, and/or additional space to be provided inside the dry powder inhaler for accommodating, for example, use detection and wireless connectivity electronics for sending use detection data to an external device, such as a smartphone.
CONNECTOR FOR MEDICATION DISPENSER
A connector a medication dispenser includes a first portion coupling the connector to the medication dispenser and a second portion configured to couple the connector to a breathing apparatus. The first portion has a first opening with a first shape and a first size. The second portion has a second opening with a second shape and a second size that are different from the first shape and the first size of the first opening, respectively.
INHALER SYSTEM
Provided is a system (10) for determining a probability of a CORD exacerbation in a subject. The system comprises a first inhaler (100) for delivering a rescue medicament to the subject. The rescue medicament may be suitable for treating the subject's acute respiratory disease, for example by effecting rapid dilation of the bronchi and bronchioles upon inhalation of the medicament. The first inhaler has a use-detection system (12B) configured to determine a rescue inhalation performed by the subject using the first inhaler. The system optionally includes a second inhaler for delivering a maintenance medicament to the subject during a routine inhalation A sensor system (12A) is configured to measure a parameter relating to airflow during the rescue inhalation and/or during the routine inhalation, when the second inhaler is included in the system. The system further comprises a processor (14) configured to determine a number of the rescue inhalations during a first time period, and receive the parameter measured for at least some of the rescue and/or routine inhalations. The processor then determines, using a weighted model, the probability of the CORD exacerbation based on the number of rescue inhalations and the parameters. The model is weighted such that the parameters are more significant in the probability determination than the number of rescue inhalations. Further provided is a method for determining the probability of a COPD exacerbation in a subject, which method employs the weighted model.
Fluidic dispensing apparatus and associated fluid dispensing cartridge
A fluid dispensing cartridge includes a housing body having a proximal end wall, a distal end wall, a fluid chamber, and a hollow throat portion. The fluid chamber is in fluid communication with the hollow throat portion. The proximal end wall provides a proximal termination of the fluid chamber and the distal end wall provides a distal termination of the hollow throat portion. A plurality of electrical contacts face proximally from the proximal end wall. The fluid dispensing cartridge includes a fluid jetting chip that has a plurality of fluid jetting nozzles.
SMOKING SUBSTITUTE APPARATUS
A smoking substitute apparatus comprising an air inlet, a first passage leading from the air inlet to a first outlet, and an aerosol generator arranged in fluid communication with the first passage, the aerosol generator being operable to generate an aerosol from an aerosol precursor, to flow in use along the first passage downstream of the aerosol generator for inhalation by a user drawing on the outlet. The smoking substitute apparatus further comprises a second passage leading from the air inlet to a second outlet, separate from the first outlet, wherein the second passage bypasses the first passage downstream of the aerosol generator.
Cartridge and inhaler
To provide an inhaler cartridge and an inhaler including a novel structure. Provided is a cartridge for an inhaler. The cartridge includes: a housing including an accommodation space capable of accommodating a liquid, an air flow passage, and a partition member partitioning the accommodation space and the air flow passage in a longitudinal direction; a heater configured to be capable of heating the liquid and arranged in the air flow passage; and an air inlet port provided at a position facing the partition member and communicating with the air flow passage. The housing includes an air outlet port communicating with the air flow passage, and a position of the air outlet port in a transverse direction at least partially overlaps in a longitudinal direction with a position of the heater in a transverse direction, or an end of the air outlet port close to a side of the air inlet port in a transverse direction is positioned on a side of the accommodation space relative to an end of the heater close to a side of the air inlet port in a transverse direction.
Handheld device for dispensing of a pharmaceutical substance and counter for such handheld device
A handheld device for dispensing a pharmaceutical substance has a housing in which a storage container with the pharmaceutical substance and a counter are arranged. The storage container dispenses the pharmaceutical substance by pressure actuation by a user after a specified displacement path has been traversed, and the counter carries out an action in order to rotate a counter wheel of the counter on the basis of the displacement path being traversed. The counter additionally has a drive part rotates the counter wheel, and the counter wheel is rotatably attached to a mounting part. The mounting part is formed independently of the housing, and the drive part is directly attached to the mounting part. The handheld device advantageously dispenses a pharmaceutical substance in that the action is first carried out on the counter wheel of the counter upon the pressure actuation, and the pharmaceutical substance is then dispensed.
INHALATION MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD
An inhalation monitoring system includes an inhaler having a medicament delivery apparatus configured to deliver medicament to a user during an inhalation of the user; inhalation monitoring apparatus, configured to, during the inhalation, gather data for determining a measure of the user's lung function and/or lung health; and a processor configured to receive the data from the inhalation monitoring apparatus and, using the data, determine a measure of the user's lung function and/or lung health.
Vaporizer related systems, methods, and apparatus
A personal vapor inhaling unit is disclosed. An electronic flameless vapor inhaler unit that may simulate a cigarette has a cavity that receives a cartridge in the distal end of the inhaler unit. The cartridge brings a substance to be vaporized in contact with a wick. When the unit is activated, and the user provides suction, the substance to be vaporized is drawn out of the cartridge, through the wick, and is atomized by the wick into a cavity containing a heating element. The heating element vaporizes the atomized substance. The vapors then continue to be pulled by the user through a mouthpiece and mouthpiece cover where they may be inhaled.
