Aspects herein are directed to an article of headwear having a first layer of material formed from a polyester yarn, a second layer of material formed from a polyester yarn, and an absorbent layer positioned between the first layer of material and the second layer of material at a front of the article of headwear. The article of headwear is configured to temporarily store perspiration produced by a wearer's forehead area and transport the perspiration to the sides and back of the article of headwear where it can subsequently evaporate or be harmlessly released.

A brow pad is provided. The brow pad can block and/or re-direct sweat away from the eyes of a user. The brow pad can include a fabric band configured to contact a forehead of the user, an enclosed channel disposed within the fabric band and extending from a first location proximate to a first end of the fabric band to a second location proximate to a second end of the fabric band opposite the first end, and a drainage strip disposed within the enclosed channel.

An expandable joint for use in, for example, a headband, includes elastic material, a low-friction sleeve, and a tube. The low-friction sleeve covers at least two opposing sides of a portion of the length of elastic material. The length of elastic material is affixed to the low-friction sleeve at a first end of the low-friction sleeve or a point adjacent to the first end of the low-friction sleeve. The length of elastic material extends beyond a second end of the low-friction sleeve opposite the first end of the low-friction sleeve. The tube substantially encloses the low-friction sleeve. The low-friction sleeve is affixed to the tube at the first end of the low-friction sleeve or a point adjacent to the first end of the low-friction sleeve, and the length of elastic material extends beyond a first end of the tube.

An expandable joint for use in, for example, a headband, includes elastic material, a low-friction sleeve, and a tube. The low-friction sleeve covers at least two opposing sides of a portion of the length of elastic material. The length of elastic material is affixed to the low-friction sleeve at a first end of the low-friction sleeve or a point adjacent to the first end of the low-friction sleeve. The length of elastic material extends beyond a second end of the low-friction sleeve opposite the first end of the low-friction sleeve. The tube substantially encloses the low-friction sleeve. The low-friction sleeve is affixed to the tube at the first end of the low-friction sleeve or a point adjacent to the first end of the low-friction sleeve, and the length of elastic material extends beyond a first end of the tube.

An interactive sweatband includes a center portion having a first end and an opposing second end. The sweatband includes a first wing portion that extends from and is operably engaged with the first end of the center portion. The sweatband includes a second wing portion that extends from and is operably engaged with the opposing second end of the center portion. The sweatband device may further include a front surface and an opposing rear surface. The sweatband may include an outflow channel that extends along and is defined by at least one of the front and opposing rear surface of the sweatband.

An interactive sweatband includes a center portion having a first end and an opposing second end. The sweatband includes a first wing portion that extends from and is operably engaged with the first end of the center portion. The sweatband includes a second wing portion that extends from and is operably engaged with the opposing second end of the center portion. The sweatband device may further include a front surface and an opposing rear surface. A ball cap with a concealed opening that allows for a greater variety of hairstyles to be worn while simultaneously retaining the general shape, appearance, and functionality of a typical ball cap. The concealed opening is hidden in a default configuration of the hat, but it can be selectively opened to allow for hair such as a ponytail to pass through. The ball cap can include a protective coating on the sweatband to prevent makeup, sweat, and dirt from soiling the sweatband.
