Ventilator system with multiple inspiratory lumens is provided. The inspiratory lumens are configured so that separate inspiratory lumens provide inspiratory gas mixtures to separate portions of a patient's airways, for instance to separate lungs and/or bronchi. The ventilator system can include one or more expiratory lumens to evacuate expiratory gases from airways. The use of separate inspiratory lumen(s), with expiratory lumen(s), allows for functional separation of structural portions of the lungs, and maintenance of continuous or almost continuous flow through at least part of respiratory cycle via inspiratory and expiratory lumens. This can further reduce dead space and clear suspended therein diseases causative agents with improvement in outcomes, reduce risk of cross-contamination or cross-infection between different parts of airways, for example such as cross-infection from one lung lobe to another lobe or. The ventilator system allows for independent titration of PEEP, pCO.sub.2 and pO.sub.2 with no need for permissive hypercapnia.

System and method for cleansing segments of a luminal network

A method and system for instilling a medium into portions of a luminal network is provided. The method includes generating a model of a luminal network based on images of the luminal network, determining a location of a treatment target in the luminal network, navigating a bronchoscope through the bronchial tree to a target, guiding a catheter through the bronchoscope, dispensing medium to the target from a distal end of the catheter, and removing a quantity of medium from the luminal network.

SELECTIVE LOBE DELIVERY OF THERAPEUTICS AND APPARATUS FOR INTERVENTIONAL BRONCHOSCOPY

Certain embodiments are directed to the use of an airway device that allows for selective lobar isolation for the administration of drugs and biologies in liquid solution deeply into lung tissue, with simultaneous ventilation of the rest of the lungs. In addition, the novel airway device facilitates the performance of interventional bronchoscopy procedures such as biopsies, removal of foreign bodies, tumor debulking and placement of stents. The advantage of having separate ventilation and working channels allows continuous view and use of instruments without interruption necessary to remove structures from the airway.

A nozzle received by a patient. The nozzle has at least two portions. A first portion that has an upper end and a lower end in which a central aperture extends between the upper and lower ends of the nozzle. The central aperture terminates at the opening of the lower end of the nozzle. A second portion that has two ends, the second end is rounded. There is at least one support arm joining the first and second body portions but holding the second body portion a set distance from the first body portion.

Dual lumen endobronchial tube device

The present invention is a dual lumen endobronchial tube provided with a flexible wall dividing a cylindrical main tube into two lumens, where the outside wall of the main tube is reinforced, preferably by metal wire but alternately by a sufficiently rigid polymer ribbing which will achieve a desired reduction necessary outside wall thickness. The achievement of a reduction in necessary wall thickness enables sufficient hydraulic cross sectional area so that each lumen is capable independently of providing adequate ventilation to a patient even while a ventilation lumen is partly occluded when the insertion end of a bronchoscope or tube is inserted into the adjacent lumen to examine or treat the other lung.

MANIFOLD HAVING ROTATABLE PORTS

An airway manifold includes a manifold body having an upper body portion and a lower body portion. The body portions are engaged such that the upper body portion is rotatable relative to the lower body portion, whereby a generally hollow interior space is defined. The lower body portion has a port open to the interior space, and the upper body portion includes a plurality of ports open to the interior space. A first upper body port is axially alignable with the lower body port to define a substantially linear passageway therebetween when the upper body portion is at a first rotatable position relative to the lower body portion. A second upper body port is axially alignable with the lower body port to define a substantially linear passageway therebetween when the upper body portion is at a second rotatable position.

VOLUME DIVIDER AND METHOD OF RESPIRATORY GAS DIVISION

The object of the invention is an inspiratory gas volume divider comprising at least two inspiratory lines (18, 19) having inspiratory branches (14,16) at ends thereof and comprising one-way valves (2,3) and at least two expiratory lines (20, 21) having expiratory branches (15,17) at ends thereof and comprising one-way valves (7,12). The inspiratory branches and expiratory branches are in pairs combined with each other in at least two inspiratory- expiratory pairs. The initial portions of the inspiratory lines are connected to the divider valve (23) provided with a control input. In the inspiratory lines, after the volume valve divider, there are included systems measuring gas volume (11,12) with output signals thereof delivered to the controller (22), and the output signal thereof is connected to the volume divider's input. Further, the object of the invention is a method of dividing the inspiratory gas volume in a divider comprising at least two inspiratory lines and two expiratory lines connected to a controlled divider provided with a control input. The method comprises the stages of: setting the desired inspiratory gas volume division, measuring and subsequently re-setting the division in feedback loop via the control input. In the stage of measuring, the volume of gas in each of the inspiratory lines is subjected to measurement, and the measurement signal is converted in an automatic controller to the valve divider's control signal.
