METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING A CUFFED MEDICAL DEVICE
20230405901 · 2023-12-21 ·

A medical airway device having a cuff is manufactured by loading an injection molding apparatus with a thermosetting elastomeric material and shaping the cuff by injecting the material into an associated injection mold. The injection mold includes a sprue bush having a sprue passage in fluid communication with a mold cavity. The injection molding apparatus includes an injection nozzle that is positioned in contact with, or in close proximity to, the sprue bush. The thermosetting elastomeric material is discharged from the injection nozzle through the sprue passage and into the mold cavity. The cuff is formed by curing the thermosetting elastomeric material within the mold cavity and at the same time preventing premature curing of residual thermosetting elastomeric material within the injection nozzle by applying heat to the material within the mold cavity while cooling the injection nozzle with cooling fluid. The formed cuff is attachable to an airway tube.

Secretion clearing patient airway management system

A pulmonary secretion clearing airway structure and related airway management system is disclosed that has a double lumen portion which each lumen of the double lumen portion operably secured to an airway management system so that inspiratory fluid (air/oxygen mixtures, with or without added water vapor) is delivered to the distal end of the ventilation catheter through one of the two lumens and expired inspiratory fluid, pulmonary secretions, and pulmonary fluids are removed from the patient through the other lumen. The expiratory fluid pathway preferably includes a secretion collection system for removing the pulmonary secretions and the like from the pathway, thereby improving operation and safety of the system. The airway structure can be a ventilation catheter or a supraglottic airway system such as laryngeal mask and the like.

SUPRAGLOTTIC AIRWAY DEVICE

A method and apparatus for a medical airway passage device suitable for maintaining an airway for a patient is provided. The medical airway passage device includes a novel coupler device designed to prevent contamination, infection, and unwanted discharge of patient fluids and solids during usage. The coupler includes a locking mechanism configured to lock the coupler to a breathing tube and thus preventing unintentional decoupling of the coupler from the breathing tube. The coupler also includes a self-sealing suction port for removing patient discharges. The coupler further includes a filter for enabling the free flowing passage of airflow but prevention of the flow of patient discharges.

IMPROVED VISUAL LARYNGEAL MASK

The present invention provides an improved visual laryngeal mask comprising a snorkel, an end of the snorkel is provided with a fixing seat. The fixing seat is provided with an airbag, and the fixing seat has a recess which is provided with an airway opening. The inner wall of the snorkel longitudinally extends an imaging cavity and a cleaning channel. The imaging cavity has a built-in imaging device, and the imaging cavity and the cleaning channel protrude forward relative to the airway opening to form a stopper which prevents an epiglottis from blocking the imaging device.

Method Of Delivering Medicament

Methods of delivering medicament and a medicament delivery device (MDD) are described. Such an MDD may have a laryngeal mask configured to fit against a patient at an area surrounding the patient's laryngeal inlet, and thereby cover a laryngeal inlet of the patient, and a delivery tube having interior wall surfaces defining a medicament channel. Medicament may be conveyed via the medicament channel toward the laryngeal mask. The MDD may have at least two gas channels. The gas channels may be in gas-communication with the laryngeal mask.

SUPRAGLOTTIC AIRWAY DEVICE WITH A DYNAMIC CUFF WITH SUPERIOR VENTILATING CAPABILITY

This invention is a device to be used with a system for supplying anaesthetic or respiratory gases into the airway of a human or an animal. This device is a supraglottic airway device, which includes a shaft with three tubes one for ventilation purpose and rest two for dynamic cuff inflation and other for suctioning purpose. The dynamic cuff is inflated by the gases supplied directly from the anaesthesia or ventilator circuit through a specialised adaptor via dynalumen. The cuff inflation lumen (DynaLumen) will also be having a locking mechanism to enable its use like a conventional LMA; i.e., the cuff can be left continuously inflated both during positive pressure ventilation as well as less during expiratory phase and during spontaneous respiration.

LARYNGEAL MASK AIRWAY

A laryngeal mask airway includes: a guide tube that has one proximal end portion inserted into the larynx inside the trachea and the other distal end portion exposed to the outside of the trachea, guides the insertion of a flexible bronchoscope and an endotracheal tube inserted into the trachea, and is divided into left and right sides; a mask that is integrally connected to the one proximal end portion of the guide tube, prevents fluid and air from flowing into the larynx inside the trachea from the outside, and is divided into the left and right sides; a handle portion that is provided on the other side of the guide tube and protrudes to both sides of the guide tube to correspond to each other; and a coupling member that couples the guide tube and mask, which are divided into the left and right sides, to each other.
