Airway maintenance device
The disclosure relates to an airway maintenance device, such as an endotracheal tube, tracheostomy tube, or supraglottic airway device, and in particular to an airway maintenance device having a sensor for measuring capillary blood flow and/or pressure. The device includes an airway maintenance device with an airway lumen having a proximal end and a distal end, a distal end portion incorporating an optical sensor configured to measure capillary blood flow in tissue surrounding the distal end when in position within a patient's airway. The optical sensor may include a portion of an optical fibre extending to the distal end portion along the lumen.
Medical devices with layered conductive elements and methods for manufacturing the same
A system for performing a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure within a subject includes a device having a distal portion configured for insertion within a lumen or duct of the subject, the device including an elongate body having a longitudinal axis, the elongate body comprising a polymeric material and having a proximal end and a distal end, one or more electrically-conductive tracings carried on a first surface of the elongate body and configured to carry a signal, and one or more conductors embedded within the polymeric material and configured to carry a signal.
MULTIPURPOSE AIRWAY DEVICE
An airway device facilitates the insertion of an ETT into a patient, the delivery of oxygenated air into a patient, an exchange of the pre-inserted ETT in an intubated patient, and an evaluation of the larynx and trachea in an intubated patient, The device comprises an overtube having a mask section attached to a distal portion of the overtube. An inflatable bladder affixed to the mask section includes a shape and surface configured to seamlessly contact the circumference of the elliptical construction of the laryngeal opening. Once the inflatable bladder is positioned adjacent the laryngeal opening enhanced sealing properties are created so that the axis of the airflow entering the device matches the axis of the trachea, allowing for the improved delivery of oxygenated air into the patient's lungs. The specific utilization of the bladder allows for the device to be constructed smaller than a typical airway device, which may more easily facilitate the insertion process. Additionally, the device may provide a seamless transition into endotracheal intubation when necessary.
Imaging device and data management system for medical device
A method of displaying information associated with an application of an intubation device includes detecting an orientation of a screen attached to the intubation device, and setting a template for displaying values of a parameter associated with one of the plurality of sensors in a display window on the screen according to the orientation of the screen. The method includes receiving data from the plurality of sensors, and continuously displaying a video image from an optical imaging device during an intubation of a patient and periodically displaying on a portion of the screen a display window including a value of the parameter according to the data received instead of a part of the video image. Setting the template includes setting a frequency of display, a size, or a color for the parameter.
Monitoring system including mask removal and oxygen desaturation period detection
A method of approximating a position of an oxygen mask during a procedure includes detecting a presence of the oxygen mask based on a signal from a sensor or through an observation through an optical imaging device; determining whether the oxygen mask is close to or on a patient for supplying oxygen to the patient; detecting a removal of the oxygen mask from the patient to stop supplying oxygen to the patient; initiating a desaturation timer in response to the sensor or the optical imaging device detecting the removal of the oxygen mask from the patient; and operating an image display device to display a parameter for the oxygen desaturation timer.
LARYNGEAL MASK AIRWAY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ADMINISTERING A MEDICAMENT THROUGH A LARYNGEAL MASK AIRWAY DEVICE
A laryngeal mask airway device includes an airway tube and a laryngeal mask placed at a distal end of the airway tube. The distal end of the airway tube opens inside the laryngeal mask. The device includes a connector placed at a proximal end of the airway tube. The connector is in fluid communication with the laryngeal mask through the airway tube and is configured to be connected to a ventilation equipment. The device includes a movable element placed in the laryngeal mask and configured to steer a tip of a catheter passing through the airway tube. The device further includes a control element mounted on the proximal end of the airway tube and a motion transmission device operatively connected to the movable element and to the control element to move the movable element and to steer the tip of the catheter by acting on the control element.
INTUBATION APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USE
An intubation apparatus and, method of use, for intubating a patient. The apparatus includes an airway ventilation device having tubing located between an inlet end and an outlet end, the outlet end being configured to be locatable in the airway of a patient, intermediary tubing having a first end releasably connectable to the inlet end of the airway ventilation device and a second end having a fitting configured to connect to a gas supply, and an introducer having a first end that is alternatively releasably connectable to the first end of the intermediary tubing and a second end having a blunt tip.
SANITARY EXTUBATION COVER AND METHOD FOR ITS USE
A sanitary extubation cover used to cover an endotracheal tube and a patient's face in order to accommodate sanitary extubation. The sanitary extubation cover includes a mask and a cover which covers the endotracheal tube. If the patient coughs, the cough would be directed into the mask and the endotracheal tube (which is covered by the cover) but contaminants from the cough would be suppressed from spreading into the open air. The mask can have an air cushion at the bottom of the mask in order to securely press against the patient's face. Th ask can also have a solid silicone base at the bottom of the mask in order to securely press against the patient's face.
A DEVICE FOR MAINTAINING AN AIRWAY IN A PATIENT
A device adapted for maintaining an airway in a patient, the device comprising a mask, the mask adapted to form a seal around the laryngeal inlet when properly inserted into a patient and an airway tube for providing ventilation gases and/or anaesthetic gases through the mask and to the lungs of the patient when the device is properly inserted in a patient, wherein the airway tube has a first proximal opening and a second proximal opening.
Catheter inflatable cuff pressure stabilizer
A cuff pressure stabilizer includes a substantially rigid protective housing and a balloon disposed therein. The balloon has a base low pressure of 10 cm H2O when it contains a base low-pressure volume of air. When the balloon contains a first medium-pressure volume of air, the balloon has a first medium pressure of 25 cm H2O. When the balloon contains a second medium-pressure volume of air, the balloon has a second medium pressure of 40 cm H2O, and at least 20% of an outer surface of the balloon touches a portion of the inner surface of the housing. The second medium-pressure volume of air equals the base low-pressure volume of air plus a second incremental quantity of air that is less than 60 cc. Other embodiments are also described.
