The disclosure relates to voice prosthesis device that enables a laryngectomy patient to speak. The voice prosthesis device has a cylinder including a first end and a second end. An inner washer is attached to the first end and an outer washer is attached to the second end. A partial shutter is coupled to the first end of the cylinder. A shutter guard is placed at the inner part of the inner washer and is fixed to the cylinder. The device further includes plurality of rings. The partial shutter is made of platinum cured silicon and opens relatively to allow exhaled air to pass from the second end to the first end and prevents entry of food particles into the second end.

Speaking valve

The invention relates to a speaking valve for laryngectomized and tracheotomized persons that is easy and economical to produce. According to the invention, the speaking valve comprises a proximal first opening and a distal second opening, a filter, which is at least partially surrounded by the housing, which filter is made of an elastic material, and has a proximal first end and a distal second end, wherein the filter partially protrudes beyond an end face of the housing at the distal second opening, and wherein a cover is connected by means of at least one partial region of the bottom surface thereof to a top side of the filter at the distal second end of the filter. A diameter d.sub.1 of the cover is greater than a diameter d.sub.2 of the filter, such that an edge projecting beyond a lateral filter wall of the filter is formed, wherein by application of pressure to the cover from an initial position, a bottom surface of the edge at least partially interacts with the end face of the housing in order to produce a closed position of the speaking valve, and wherein the cover together with the filter returns to the initial position when unloaded.

Tracheal cannula and speaking-respiration system for mechanical respiration

The present invention relates to a novel tracheal cannula (10), which allows patients to speak who receive artificial respiration with compressed-air. The tracheal cannula according to the invention makes this possible without the risk that saliva or stomach content is aspirated and without the occurrence of a loss of pressure during the respiration. This is achieved by an embodiment of the cannula having a separated speaking conduit (12) and respiration conduit (11). Furthermore, the invention relates to a speaking respiration system that can be connected to the tracheal cannula of the present invention, and that when used in a patient monitors and controls the respiration of the patient, and simulates an artificial exhalation that enables the tracheostomized patient to speak.

TRACHEOSTOMY OR ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE ADAPTER FOR SPEECH

A speaking valve adapter is disclosed for assisting with speech or language expression during the respiratory recovery of a human. The speaking valve adapter including a speaking valve port, the port being orthogonal to a first interface port, the first interface port adapted to support tracheostomy or endotracheal tubing, a second interface port adapted to support at least one of a suction tubing and a bronchoscopy tubing, and a third interface port adapted to support a connection to a ventilator. The speaking valve adapter may be used by the patient for introduction of at least one of sounds and words while connected to the ventilator. A corresponding respiratory management system which implements the speaking valve adapter and configurable ventilator settings adapted for assisting with more effective speech or language expression during patient recovery or use is also disclosed.

Low profile heat and moisture exchanger device for tracheotomy and speaking valve

A heat moisture exchange device received on a speaking tube mounted on an end of a tracheotomy tube. The heat moisture exchange device has a housing in which the air moves in a turbulent manner and passes through a heat moisture exchange filter.

Tracheostoma Valve

A tracheostoma valve to be applied to a tracheostomized person's neck comprises an air passage to be connected with the tracheostoma for connecting the trachea with the surroundings. A valve member is provided in the air passage, wherein the valve member is normally open and allows for inhalation and exhalation through the air passage. The valve further comprises a manually activated member for establishing an uninterrupted seal to block patient exhalation, thereby to direct it to the patient's pharynx, esophagus, sinuses, and mouth for speech following surgical removal of the larynx.

Respiratory Assembly Supporting Voice Function, Ventilation Method, and Associated Ventilator

A respiratory assembly supports a voice function, a ventilation method and a ventilator. The respiratory assembly includes a detecting module configured to detect a mouth pressure and an expiratory airway pressure of a patient, an inspiratory module configured to provide gas to the patient during inspiration, and an expiratory module configured to expel the gas generated by the patient's expiration, and to control an expiratory branch pressure to be greater than the mouth pressure according to the mouth pressure detected by the detecting module, which causes the expiratory airway pressure to rise due to lung contraction during the patient's expiration, causing gas in the expiratory airway of the patient to flow toward the mouth, the flowing gas driving patient's vocal chords to vibrate and vocalize.
