20200188620 · 2020-06-18 ·

An adjustable tracheostoma valve includes a housing having a first opening that is adapted to open to a tracheostoma and a second opening that opens to ambient. The housing includes a lower housing portion defining the first opening and an upper housing portion movably attached to the lower housing portion and defining the second opening. A closure member is disposed in the housing and adapted to close the second opening. A flexible membrane includes a first region connected to the closure member and a plurality of spiral shaped legs extending from the first region and connected to the housing. The upper and lower housings are axially adjustable relative to one another to adjust an amount of air flow through the valve that would cause closure of the closure member. A heat and moisture exchanger is disposed in the housing between the first opening and the second opening.

Adjustable baseplate for use with irregular tracheostomas

An adjustable base plate for use with a tracheotomy stoma includes a flexible membrane and a base component having an accessory mounting portion disposed in a center of the flexible membrane and adapted to mount a tracheostoma accessory. The base plate defines a conically shaped region formed by a plurality of conforming members extending radially from the accessory mounting portion that are laterally spaced from one another and connected to one another by a plurality of web portions formed by the flexible membrane. An adhesive material is applied to the flexible membrane.

A tracheostoma device holder for holding a tracheostoma device superimposed of a tracheostoma of a person is provided. The tracheostoma device holder may comprise a flexible skirt for attachment over a tracheostoma via a skin adhesive proximal side thereof, said skirt being provided with a through hole. A tubular tracheostoma device fitting may be arranged circumferentially of the through hole, said tubular tracheostoma device fitting extending distally from the distal side of the skirt. The skirt may have at least two sheets, in form of a distal end sheet comprising a skin adhesive hydrogel or hydrocolloid, and a support sheet proximally of said distal end sheet. The support sheet may comprise polyurethane.

Heat and moisture exchanger with lipped valve plate and grooved valve seat

A heat and moisture exchanger (IO) for tracheostomized or laryn-gectomized patients, having a valve plate and a housing, wherein: the valve plate has a radially surrounding lip, and the housing comprises a valve seat which encloses a distal opening of the housing, the valve seat has a groove for receiving the lip, the valve plate is associated with the distal opening of the housing, and the valve plate can be moved into a closed position in which the lip engages in the groove.

Customized Tracheocutaneous Fistula and Tracheostomy Plug

A customized tracheocutaneous fistula and tracheostomy plug having a face plate and a body customized to the anatomy of a patient is disclosed. The face plate has a face plate diameter, and the body has a first end connected to the face plate and a second end, a shoulder connected at the second end, and a tapered tip extending from the shoulder. The body has a body length extending from the first end to the second end and a shoulder diameter. The face plate diameter and the shoulder diameter are each greater than a measured minimum stoma diameter, and the body length is equal or substantially equal to a measured stoma length. Also, a mold-based method and a direct method of manufacturing the plug.

Artificial Airway Device

An artificial airway device 1 to facilitate lung ventilation of a patient, comprising an airway tube 2 including a lumen 3, a mask 4 at one end of the airway tube, the mask including a backplate 5 and having a peripheral formation 6 capable of forming a seal around the circumference of the laryngeal inlet, the peripheral formation surrounding a hollow interior space or lumen 7 of the mask and the airway tube 2 opening into the lumen of the mask 4, and a connector 8 disposed at the proximal end of the airway tube, the connector including a main bore 9 for passage of gas to the airway tube lumen 3, and a wall 10 defining a circumference and including a plurality of ports 12 to allow passage of gas to the main bore, at least one port 12 being disposed for circumferential rotational movement relative to the main bore 9.

Medical apparatus with hypopharyngeal suctioning capability
10549055 · 2020-02-04 · ·

A laryngeal mask apparatus to ventilate a patient and also suck in fluids and secretions in the patient's hypopharyngeal region. The laryngeal mask apparatus has a mask, a flexible breathing tube in communication with the mask and a suction tube which has a plurality of suctioning ports that face the back of the patient's throat when the mask is inserted into the patient's throat. When suction is created within the suction tube, fluids and secretions in the patient's hypopharyngeal region are sucked into the plurality of suction ports. The laryngeal mask apparatus also has a flexible air capillary tube positioned within the interior of the suction tube to provide an air flow that decreases the direct suction forces on the mucosa of the patient's throat that are caused by the suction of the plurality of suction ports.

Device for Collecting Seepage from a Tracheal Incision
20240066245 · 2024-02-29 ·

The present disclosure provides a device for collecting seepage from below a tracheostomy incision on a patient by providing a pad with a groove running transversely to the flow of the seepage. The groove couples to a suction catheter tube which can apply a constant suction to the area of the groove, removing the seepage before it collects on the skin for too long or contaminates a patient's bed. This both increases patient comfort and reduces workload for nursing staff.

Twist to lock Tracheostoma heat and moisture exchanger

A twist to lock heat and moisture exchanging device includes a housing having a first opening that is adapted to open to a tracheostoma and a second opening that opens to ambient. A foam filter is disposed in the housing and a closure member is mounted to the housing and adapted to close a passage between the first opening and the second opening. A locking mechanism is engageable to prevent movement of the closure member to close the passage and disengageable to allow movement of the closure member to close the passage. The twist to lock tracheostoma heat and moisture exchanger allows a user to protect from accidental closure during activities when it would be preferred like sleeping and exercising.
