MEDICAL TUBING
A medical tube has a tube wall, a first end and a second end. At least one heater wire is wrapped around the wall. Near or at one of the first end or the second end, there is at least one recess in an outer surface of the wall. The heater wire passes over the at least one tube recess such that the wire does not contact the wail in the area of the tube recess. Also disclosed are methods of making the tube and components used in making the tube.
Apparatus used for the humidification of gases in medical procedures
This invention relates to apparatus used to alter the temperature and humidity of gases. The apparatus of the present invention comprises an insufflator, humidifier and transportation means connected to delivery means to deliver humidified and heated gases to a body cavity prior to and during a medical procedure. In one form of the present invention the insufflator and humidifier are contained in the one housing, while in another form the humidifier is located proximal and external to the insufflator. The transportation means that delivers the humidified gases to the body cavity comprises a flexible tubing having located within, throughout or around it heating means. The heating means may be a heat conductive wire, a ribbon of PTC material, or a conducting wire extruded into the walls of tubing, where the tubing may be made from a PTC material or flexible plastics.
CONNECTOR FOR MEDICATION DISPENSER
A connector a medication dispenser includes a first portion coupling the connector to the medication dispenser and a second portion configured to couple the connector to a breathing apparatus. The first portion has a first opening with a first shape and a first size. The second portion has a second opening with a second shape and a second size that are different from the first shape and the first size of the first opening, respectively.
CONNECTION ASSEMBLY FOR ESTABLISHING A FLUIDIC CONNECTION BETWEEN A MEDICAL DEVICE AND A PATIENT-SIDE COUPLING UNIT
A connection device for establishing a fluid connection between a medical device and a patient-side coupling unit includes a supply hose (3) connected to a patient-side connection piece (2) and connectable to the medical device. An adapter tube (13.1) of an adapter (10.1) holds a patient-side end section (EA) of a fluid measuring hose (6.1). An adapter tube holder (12.1, 12.2) of the adapter (10.1) encloses the adapter tube (13.1). The adapter tube holder (12.1, 12.2) holds the end section of the fluid measuring hose (6.1) in a predefined position relative to the patient-side connection piece (2). A measuring fluid connection can be established between the medical device and a predefined fluid sampling position (X) by the fluid measuring hose (6.1). This fluid sampling position (X) is in the interior of the patient-side connection piece (2).
Dual-connector wye piece
A wye connector has a patient coupling end. The patient coupling end has a first connector surface and a second connector surface. The first connector surface has a first diameter at an axial location along the patient coupling end. The second connector surface has a second diameter at the same axial location along the patient coupling end. The first diameter is larger than the second diameter. The second connector surface projects axially outward beyond the first connector surface.
Control of humidifier chamber temperature for accurate humidity control
A breathing assistance system for delivering a stream of heated, humidified gases to a user, comprising a humidifier unit which holds and heats a volume of water, and which in use receives a flow of gases from a gases source via an inlet port, the flow of gases passing through the humidifier and exiting via an exit port, the system further having a temperature sensor which measures the temperature of the gases exiting the humidifier unit, an ambient temperature sensor which measures the temperature of gases before they enter the humidifier unit, and a flow sensor which measures the flow rate of the gases stream, the system also having a controller which receives data from the temperature and flow sensors, and which determines a control output in response, the control output adjusting the power to the humidifier unit to achieve a desired output at the humidifier unit exit port.
Mask system with snap-fit shroud
A shroud for a mask system includes a retaining portion structured to retain a frame, a pair of upper headgear connectors each including an elongated arm and a slot at the free end of the arm adapted to receive a headgear strap, and a pair of lower headgear connectors each adapted to attach to a headgear strap. The retaining portion, the upper headgear connectors, and the lower headgear connectors are integrally formed as a one piece structure.
Positive pressure ventilation appliance modules and related systems and methods
A positive pressure ventilation (PPV) appliance module includes an adapter that couples to a port on an NIV mask and an appliance for performing a respiratory care procedure. The adapter is configured to form a PPV seal with the port of the PPV mask and also form a PPV seal with the appliance. The PPV appliance module allows clinicians to perform procedures through the NIV mask without disrupting the therapeutic pressure.
Method and apparatus for evaluating an airway status
An airway status evaluation apparatus includes a respiration monitoring unit, a data processing unit, an inflation/deflation unit, and an inflation/deflation control unit. The data processing unit is electrically connected to the respiration monitoring unit, collects a respiration parameter of a patient from the respiration monitoring unit when a cuff meets an evaluation state, and evaluates an airway status of the patient according to the respiration parameter. The inflation/deflation control unit is connected to the inflation/deflation unit and controls the inflation/deflation unit to inflate and deflate the cuff so as to enable the cuff to meet an evaluation state. In the present disclosure, inflation and deflation of the cuff are implemented in a full-automatic or semi-automatic control manner, the respiration parameter can be automatically monitored, and the evaluation result is automatically calculated, thereby achieving the automatic evaluation for the airway status of a patient.
