One or more aspects of the present disclosure are directed to bladders that incorporate a multi-layer optical film that impart a structural color to the bladder. The present disclosure is also directed to articles including the bladders having a multi-layer optical film, and methods for making articles and bladders having a multi-layer optical film.

One or more aspects of the present disclosure provide optical element transfer structures that include an optical element releasably coupled with a transfer medium and methods of making and using the optical element transfer structures. The optical element transfer structures can be used to dispose an optical element onto an article, whereby the optical element imparts a structural color to the article.

Shoe having a partially coated upper
11284676 · 2022-03-29 ·

Provided is a shoe that includes a sole and an upper extending above the sole. The upper has an outer surface and is made of a base material that is partially covered with a coating material, such that the coating material covers at least 90% but not more than 98% of the outer surface of the upper.

FOOTWEAR MIDSOLE WITH 3-D PRINTED MESH HAVING AN ANISOTROPIC STRUCTURE AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

Soles for an article of footwear with a three-dimensional mesh having a plurality of interconnected unit cells composed of one or more soft sub-cells and one or more stiff sub-cells. The arrangement of one or more soft sub-cells and one or more stiff sub-cells for the interconnected unit cells can provide the three-dimensional mesh with anisotropic properties, for example, anisotropic lattice shear moduli. In particular embodiments, the arrangement of soft sub-cells and stiff sub-cells for the unit cells can create a three-dimensional mesh predisposed to deform forwards when a sole including the three-dimensional mesh contacts the ground.

Additive color printing

Methods and systems are provided for color printing onto nonwhite substrates and articles. For example, an article of apparel is provided that includes multiple layers of ink with a combination of a white ink and at least one color ink, and each layer having a ratio of white ink to color ink, wherein the ratio is the same.

Fiber-bound engineered materials formed using engineered scrims

A fiber bound engineered material is provided that imparts an intended characteristic at an intended relative location. A fiber layer is entangled with additional fibers in a manner to create a non-uniform engineered material. The lack of uniformity of a fiber bound engineered material may be accomplished through manipulation of the fibers and/or through fiber binding a scrim. The fiber layer binds with additional fibers through entanglement such that a mechanical connection between the entangled fibers is provided. This entanglement allows the fibers to bind without supplemental adhesives, interlacing, or connections. Variations in the fibers and/or inclusion of scrim materials prior to entanglement allows for an intended characteristic (e.g., a functional characteristic) at an intended relative location (e.g., a position determined by an article to be formed therefrom).

ARTICLES, BLADDERS AND METHODS OF MAKING ARTICLES AND BLADDERS

The present disclosure is directed to articles that have a surface comprising a polymeric material having a printed layer disposed thereon that is durable and flexible. Prior to formation of the printed layer, the surface of the article can comprise a first layer of a first composition disposed on a portion of the polymeric material. The first composition can include a dispersion of uncrosslinked polymers (e.g., a water-borne dispersion of uncrosslinked polymers). The printed layer can be included on an article of footwear, a component of footwear, apparel, a component of apparel, sporting equipment, or a component of sporting equipment.

In example aspects, materials are repurposed for footwear manufacturing. That is, in some instances, materials in the footwear manufacturing supply chain are potentially subject to disposal. However, aspects of this disclosure sustainably repurpose those materials (that might otherwise be disposed of) to be used in footwear articles. In some aspects, the repurposed materials may be obscured with a concealing layer.
