COMPONENTS FOR MEDICAL CIRCUITS
Breathable medical circuit components and materials and methods for forming these components incorporate breathable foamed materials that are permeable to water vapor and substantially impermeable to liquid water and the bulk flow of gases. The materials and methods can be incorporated into a variety of components, including tubes, Y-connectors, catheter mounts, and patient interfaces and are suitable for use in a variety of medical circuits, including insufflation, anesthesia, and breathing circuits.
CONDUIT WITH HEATING ELEMENT
A conduit for a breathing circuit includes a heater associated, at least in part, with a hydrophilic layer. The purpose of the heater is to evaporate any condensed liquid collecting in the conduit, which is first sucked up by the hydrophilic layer. The heated wick reduces the risk of collected water being passed to the patient and causing choking fits or discomfit. It is preferred that the heated wick lies freely in the conduit to settle at low points in the conduit where condensation may collect.
Sedation Device
A sedation device has a housing divided internally into a ventilator chamber and an associated evaporator chamber which overlap and are separated by a filter mounted between the chambers and forming a common gas-permeable dividing wall between the chambers. An inlet port is provided at one end of the ventilator chamber at a top of the housing for connection to a patient ventilator in use. An outlet port on the evaporator chamber can be connected via a breathing tube to a patient. An evaporator is mounted within the evaporator chamber for delivery of a volatile sedative into the evaporator chamber during use.
Humidifier
A humidifier includes a heating element including a porous structure of electrically resistive and thermally conductive material configured to substantially vaporise liquid that is passed through the porous structure. The porous structure has a liquid inlet and a vapour outlet. The humidifier further includes an outer housing surrounding at least a portion of the porous structure for containing the liquid and vapour within the porous structure. The porous structure includes a first electrical connector and a second electrical connector, the first and second connectors being configured for receiving electrical power and applying a voltage across the porous structure to generate heat.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PULMONARY HEALTH MANAGEMENT
The present disclosure provides system and methods for pulmonary health using one or more inhalation devices. In one aspect, the air inhalation devices each comprise one or more sensors configured to capture pulmonary health data for a patient. Using this data, air analytics may be generated pertaining to individualized patient health, general health for people living within a particular geographical location, air quality for a particular geographical region, operational parameters of the inhalation devices, and/or the like. The air analytics may be output, for example, for display on a user device, such as a patient user device, a health care provider user device, and/or an administrator user device.
METHODS FOR TREATMENT OF PULMONARY LUNG DISEASES WITH IMPROVED THERAPEUTIC EFFICACY AND IMPROVED DOSE EFFICIENCY
A droplet delivery device and related methods for delivering precise and repeatable dosages to a subject for pulmonary use is disclosed. The droplet delivery device includes a housing, a reservoir, and ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The droplet delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The droplet delivery device is then actuated to generate a stream of droplets having an average ejected droplet diameter within the respirable size range, e.g, less than about 5 m, so as to target the pulmonary system of the user.
METHODS FOR THE SYSTEMIC DELIVERY OF THERAPEUTIC AGENTS TO THE PULMONARY SYSTEM USING A DROPLET DELIVERY DEVICE
SYSTEMS AND METHODS COMPRISING A DROPLET DELIVERY DEVICE AND A BREATHING ASSIST DEVICE FOR THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT
Humidifier unit
A low cost medical humidifier for adding moisture to a patient air flow is disclosed. The humidifier comprises a water reservoir, a disposable evaporative wick containing a heater, a lid containing electrical contacts to engage the heater in the wick and airway connections. The wick heater comprises a PET film with aluminum tracks and a cover layer of PTC resistive ink. The heater is covered with paper to provide a water pathway via capillary flow. There is a capillary path from the water reservoir to the wick. The wick and heater are manufactured with printing and calendaring processes in reel to reel processes.
