Air-oxygen blender with periodic pressure venting

An air/oxygen blender, optionally with an associated oxygen analyzer, is provided with an exhaust valve in fluid communication with one or more of a proportioning valve and a gas outlet which periodically opens to vent gas therefrom. The exhaust valve is preferably an electrically actuated valve, most preferably a solenoid valve, controlled by a control unit which periodically opens the exhaust valve. In another embodiment, an oxygen analyzer is provided with an exhaust valve in fluid communication with an oxygen sensing chamber. Preferably, the control unit controls the frequency of exhaust valve opening and the time period of exhaust valve opening. A method of prevention of contamination of a lower pressure source air or source oxygen connected to an air/oxygen blender is accomplished by periodically venting of gas from the exhaust valve.

Ventilator with integrated cough-assist

A passive valve for use as a fixed leak valve. The valve includes a body having an internal chamber, first and second body ports in fluid communication with the chamber with the first port configured for fluid communication with a patient connection and the second body port configured for fluid communication with a ventilator, a body passageway in fluid communication with the chamber and with ambient air exterior of the body, and a check valve seal positioned to seal the body passageway to permit the flow of gas within the chamber through the body passageway to the exterior of the body and to prevent the flow of ambient air exterior of the body through the body passageway into the chamber. In alternative embodiments, the valve is incorporated into the patient connection or constructed as a separate part connectable to the patient connection.

The invention is related to a portable rebreathing system for closed rebreathing. In order to minimize consumption of oxygen during rebreathing mode while safeguarding correct oxygen concentration, oxygen is added into the breathing passage using staged addition of oxygen via at least three individual oxygen supply valves 51, 52, 53. The two first oxygen supply valves are calibrated nozzles where one nozzle 51 is constantly delivering a predetermined amount of oxygen during normal breathing and the second nozzle 52 adds more oxygen at a second predetermined amount when the person to be treated is breathing heavily. The third valve is only opened manually and delivers a short burst of oxygen that fills the rebreathing system and its counter lung within seconds.

Pneumatic system for controlled oxygen delivery

A pneumatic system for delivering oxygen to a subject, including an oxygen supply channel having an inlet, a patient delivery outlet and an exhaust; and a flow control element configured to control the flow from the oxygen inlet to the patient delivery outlet, or to the exhaust; wherein inhalation by the patient causes the flow control element to assume a first position, allowing oxygen to flow from the oxygen inlet to the patient delivery outlet; and wherein exhalation by the patient causes the flow control element to assume a second position, directing oxygen flow from the oxygen inlet to the exhaust.

Pneumatic no delivery device

The present invention concerns a pneumatic delivery device having three successively-arranged chambers, a membrane element arranged in the third chamber so as to ensure a tight separation of the third chamber into a lower chamber and upper chamber, a membrane element arranged between the second chamber and the lower chamber of the third chamber so as to ensure a tight separation between said lower chamber and second chamber, a stem integrally fixed to the first membrane element and to the second membrane element, a valve cooperating with an outlet orifice arranged between the first chamber and the second chamber, and a flow adjustment element arranged on a gas conduct in fluid communication with the gas outlet of the second chamber, said flow adjustment element being operable by a user for setting a quantity of gas circulating in said gas conduct.

Secretion trap

A secretion trap for use between a patient connection and a patient circuit, the secretion trap including a first connection portion connectable to the patient connection for fluid communication with the patient connection, a second connection portion connectable to the patient circuit for fluid communication with the patient circuit, and a central portion located therebetween. The central portion having a first end portion in fluid communication with the first connection portion, a second end portion in fluid communication with the second connection portion, and a secretion collection well located between the first and second end portions sized to capture and retain secretions therein entering the central portion. The trap may include a drain in fluid communication with the secretion collection well for removal of secretions captured and retained by the secretion collection well.

Respiratory therapy apparatus

A blower comprises a housing, an inlet to receive air, an outlet to deliver a flow of air and a deformable member configured to pump a chamber. The deformable member may be configurable to a first configuration and a second configuration, for example by electrical energy that may be applied as current or voltage. The blower may comprise a plurality of chambers, wherein each chamber may be compressed out of phase with each other, for example such that the flow rate of the generated air flow may not fluctuate as much. In other forms, the blower may comprise a plurality of chambers that vary in size.

Gas demand device, method of installation, gas delivery system, and method of use

A gas demand device cycles through five successive operation phases: gas is prevented from flowing through the timing gas and demand gas flow paths; gas is allowed to flow through the timing gas flow path and gas is prevented from flowing through the demand gas flow path; gas is allowed to flow through the timing gas and demand gas flow paths; gas is prevented from flowing through the timing gas flow path and gas is allowed to flow through the demand gas flow path; and gas is prevented from flowing through the timing gas and demand gas flow paths.
