Foot-Actuated Device for Switching Flow Between Fluid Sources
20230132147 · 2023-04-27 ·

A method and system for foot-actuated device to switch between a vacuum supply and an oxygen supply in a medical environment. The system enables a user to press down on the device to compress a first tube and open a second tube. When the user releases the device, the first tube is opened and the second tube is compressed.

Apparatus and method for improved assisted ventilation
11633558 · 2023-04-25 · ·

Devices and methods for allowing for improved assisted ventilation of a patient. The methods and devices provide a number of benefits over conventional approaches for assisted ventilation. For example, the methods and devices described herein permit blind insertion of a device that can allow ventilation regardless of whether the device is positioned within a trachea or an esophagus.

VENTILATION MANIFOLD AND SYSTEM

An aspect provides a ventilation manifold for a ventilator, the manifold comprising a fluid flow path, the flow path comprising: bifurcated end paths, a constriction path and a compressed breathable gas chamber fluidly coupled to a compressed breathable gas source, the manifold having a manifold axis defined by the constriction path; a source path of the bifurcated ends coupled to an outlet conduit for a ventilator to present the compressed breathable gas at a source angle to one side of the manifold axis; and a vent path at a vent angle to the manifold axis for an exhaust flow, the vent path acting to provide a fluid pressure valve upon an inlet compressed breathable gas from the constriction path to urge flow towards the source path and a by-pass for returned outlet spent gas flow from the source path against the inlet compressed breathable gas at the constriction path, the fluid pressure valve and the by-pass dependent upon the relative magnitudes of the source angle and the vent angle to the manifold axis and/or each other along with the configuration of the constriction path and/or the configuration of the source path and/or the vent path.

TRACHEAL TUBE APPARATUS AND METHODS

A tracheal tube (e.g., an endotracheal tube) includes an inserting cannula (that may be able to swivel), and wherein the inserting cannula is connected to an elbow adaptor through a Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connection. The BNC connection may provide more secure connection of the corresponding components and may be able to withstand greater amounts of force exerted on them without becoming detached from each other. The elbow adapter may further be coupled to a pressure release valve that will alleviate pressure buildup within the tracheal tube.

VENTILATION METHODS AND DEVICES FOR TREATING RESPIRATORY DISEASES

Ventilation methods and devices are disclosed. The described methods and devices can be used for treating respiratory diseases. More in particular, the teachings of the disclosure relate to methods and devices to treat victims of adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Embedded control software managing various functionalities of the disclosed ventilators is also presented.

FLUID BLENDING DEVICES

Methods and devices for blending of fluids are disclosed. A fluid blender has a fluid inlet to receive a fluid, a nozzle with a convergent shape tapering down towards a nozzle end, a mixing chamber with holes arranged on a wall, and a mixture outlet having a divergent shape. In some aspects, a rotary sleeve is externally placed around the wall. The rotary sleeve has slits with a variable shape along its lateral extension. In other aspects the fluid blender has inlet tubes with check valves and a blending tube. An inlet tube has an adjustable orifice to adjust flow inside the blender.

COUPLING BETWEEN DRIVE AND BLOWER HEAD

A ventilator having a blower head comprising at least one fan wheel and a housing having blower nozzles, as well as a drive device. The blower head together with the drive device is configured to convey a patient gas and the blower head and the drive device are detachably coupled to one another via a coupling.

Pressure safely device for bag valve mask

A pressure safety device is used with a bag valve mask (BVM) for preventing over-pressurization. The BVM includes a bag assembly having a bag connector for detachably mating to a mask connector on a patient mask. The pressure safety device has a housing with a bag port, a mask fitting, and a flow path from the bag port to the mask fitting. The bag port detachably connects to the bag connector on the BVM, and the mask fitting detachably connects to the mask connector on the BVM. The pressure safety device includes an automatic flow reduction valve located on the flow path in the housing and impedes flow when pressure on a bag connector side of the valve exceeds a maximum threshold value.

CONNECTED OXYGEN THERAPY SYSTEM FOR CHRONIC RESPIRATORY DISEASE MANAGEMENT

A method and system to manage a respiratory condition of a patient. An oxygen concentrator is configured to generate and deliver oxygen enriched air to the patient according to a selected dosage. The oxygen concentrator senses and collects physiological data of the patient and collects operational data during the generation and delivery of oxygen enriched air. The oxygen concentrator adjusts the dosage of oxygen enriched air based on the sensed physiological data. The oxygen concentrator transmits operational data and the physiological data to a health data analysis engine. The health data analysis engine collects the data transmitted by the oxygen concentrator. The health analysis engine detects a triggering event based on the collected data and determines an action to resolve the detected triggering event.

Breath indicator

This invention relates to a breath indicator that is receivable by a part of a breathing assistance apparatus that supplies gas to a patient. The indicator comprises an elongate body having a gas sampling end and an attachment end. The attachment end is adapted to attach to a part of a breathing assistance apparatus and for locating the gas sampling end. The gas sampling end is to be located in a region where gas from the patient is to be exhaled. The gas sampling end being in communication with a sensor comprising a detector material changeable between a first visual indicator state relating to an inhalation phase of the patient, and a second visual indicator state relating to an exhalation phase of the patient. The detector material is capable of changing between the visual indicator states at a sufficient rate to substantially correspond with the inhalation and exhalation phases of the patient.
