Catheter hole having a flow breaking feature
A peripheral catheter having a catheter tip diffuser for reducing an exit velocity of an infusant within the catheter. Pluralities of diffusion side holes are provided on the tip portion of the catheter. Some examples further include pluralities of annularly arranged, staggered diffusion holes provided on the tip portion of an intravenous catheter to streamline infusant issued from the diffusion holes. An inner surface of each diffusion hole is further angled relative to the inner surface of the catheter lumen such that an infusant within the lumen exits the catheter though the diffusion holes at an angle less than 90°.
SMART OBTURATOR ASSEMBLY
A smart obturator assembly includes a hub forming a central passage. The hub is configured to couple to a proximal end of a device that forms a lumen such that the central passage is in fluid communication with the lumen. A collar on the hub includes electronic circuitry in signal communication with remote reception circuitry. An obturator is movably positionable within the lumen. The obturator is movable within the lumen between a first position and a second position. The obturator includes a distal end and a sensor at the distal end. The sensor is configured to sense an environmental characteristic within a patient’s blood stream, generate a signal representative of the environmental characteristic, and transmit the signal to the electronic circuitry. The electronic circuitry is configured to receive the signal and transmit the signal to the remote reception circuitry.
Symmetrical tip acute catheter
A medical catheter assembly includes a catheter tip coupled to a distal end of an elongate catheter member and is symmetric about a plane defined by a septum of the elongate catheter member. The catheter tip defines first and second lumens, and the catheter tip defines first and second openings in the distal portion of the catheter tip. Each opening of the catheter tip is defined by a respective side surface of the catheter tip. Each opening is in fluid communication with a respective one of the first and second lumens of the catheter tip and with a respective one of a pair of lumens defined by the elongate catheter member. The distance between upper and lower surfaces of the catheter tip decreases from a distal end of the proximal portion toward a closed distal end of the catheter tip.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DRAINING CEREBROSPINAL FLUID IN HYDROCEPHALUS PATIENTS
A system and related method are provided for draining cerebrospinal fluid from a bodily cavity of a patient, such as a ventricle in the brain in one application. The system includes a reservoir which may be a collapsible container configured for fluidic connection to a shunt located in the bodily cavity. The collapsible container may be an elastically deformable bladder in one embodiment. A pump is fluidly connected to the collapsible container and draws cerebrospinal fluid therefrom. A programmable controller directs the pump to repeatedly activate and deactivate at a predetermined time interval. A plurality of sensors may be provided which are communicably coupled to the controller for monitoring pump motor current draw, tension in the resilient body of the container, pressure, and orientation of the patient. The controller is configurable to deactivate the pump when abnormal operating conditions are detected by the sensors.
Systems and methods for flushing an assessment catheter
Devices systems and methods are disclosed for removing secretions from the lumen of a functional assessment catheter for the lungs. The system comprises a flushing unit configured to deliver a clearing fluid to the lumen of the pulmonary catheter to remove debris, secretions, or moisture from the lumen or sensors.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN ENRICHED MEDICAL SUSPENSION
A medical fluid suspension generating delivery apparatus includes a dual syringe assembly including a first receptacle for a pressurized chemical solution and a second receptacle for a medical solution. The medical fluid suspension generating delivery apparatus also includes a Venturi-agitating tip assembly generating an enriched medical suspension from the pressurized chemical solution and a second receptacle for a medical solution.
Heat transfer through a catheter tip
Described embodiments include a catheter tip that includes an outer layer of a thermally-conducting metal; an inner layer of a thermally-conducting metal; a polymer layer between the inner and outer layer; and a plurality of thermal bridges selectively positioned between the inner and outer layers and through the polymer layer thereby significantly increasing the heat transfer of the catheter tip through the polymer layer. Other embodiments are also described.
AORTO OSTIAL FLUID DIRECTING DEVICE
A fluid directing device may include a catheter and a skirt. The catheter may define a lumen and may have a distal end and a proximal end. The skirt may be attached to a distal region of the catheter and may encircle the catheter. The skirt may have a proximal end attached to the catheter, and a free distal end, the skirt having a sidewall extending between the proximal and distal ends thereof, the skirt configured to move between a collapsed state and an expanded state in which the sidewall extends radially away from the catheter, the sidewall defining an interior chamber in the expanded state, wherein the skirt is configured to prevent contrast media that exits the catheter lumen from passing through the sidewall.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THROMBOLYSIS AND DELIVERY OF AN AGENT
A system for removing intracranial blood or thrombus including a probe having a supply channel and an aspiration channel, the aspiration channel having a distal end and a proximal end, the supply channel having a distal end and a wall, the aspiration channel having an opening at or adjacent its distal end and an interior wall surface, an orifice adjacent the distal end of the supply channel and in fluid communication with the interior of the aspiration channel, wherein the orifice is configured to create a spray pattern when pressurized fluid is pumped through the supply channel such that the spray pattern impinges on the interior wall surface of the aspiration channel, and an ultrasound device at or adjacent the opening of the aspiration channel, and configured to operate at a frequency of between about 1 kHz and about 20 MHz.
