A shoe degradation sensor assembly includes a first sensor disposed in or proximate to a material layer of a shoe between a foot space and an outer surface of the shoe, and an electrical contact assembly operable to removably electrically connect the shoe degradation sensor assembly to a reader. The material layer changes in at least one physical property with degradation to the shoe, and the first sensor is configured to indicate the changing physical property of the material layer thereby indicating a degree of degradation to the shoe.

A convertible footwear device includes a sole having opposed toe and heel ends. The footwear device includes a Y-shaped strap assembly having a first strap portion and a second strap portion that are joined together at a post strap portion proximate the toe end. A heel strap assembly including a heel strap having a first end rotatably coupled to the first end of the first strap portion of the Y-shaped strap assembly and a second end rotatably coupled to the first end of the second strap portion of the Y-shaped strap assembly, wherein the heel strap is pivotally movable between a forward configuration in which the heel strap is positioned atop the first and second strap portions a rearward configuration rearwardly displaced from the post assembly for use as a sandal heel strap.

The invention relates to a footwear kit and method of providing a footwear kit comprising a forepart that can be removably attached to both a left shoe and a right shoe, in which the shoes are substantially asymmetric about a line running from the front to the back of the shoe, and in which the periphery of the forepart substantially matches the periphery of the toe region of both the left shoe and the right shoe.

A shoe heel platform includes a substantially flat base sized to extend under a heel of a high heeled shoe. The base includes a heel section with a connecting member positioned and configured to removably attach to the heel of the high heeled shoe. The connecting member may be a magnet, a receptacle to receive a tap piece of the heel of the shoe, or both. An article of footwear comprises a sole, and an upper that has a medial side portion extending from the medial side of the sole with a first distal end remote from the medial side. The upper has a lateral side portion extending from the lateral side of the sole with a second distal end remote from the lateral side. A dancing shoe is described. The latter has a sole with an inner side and an outer side, which sole extends in a longitudinal direction from a rear end to a front end.
