MULTI-CELL FLOW BATTERY AND FUEL CELL ASSEMBLIES

A multi-cell electrochemical reaction cell structure for a flow battery or fuel cell having a plurality of cells electrically connected in series or parallel. A first housing has a pair of mating end plates assembled together, each forming a plurality of recesses in which one of the cells is received. One of the end plates has a projection along its perimeter and the other one of the end plates has a groove along its perimeter. The projection is configured to fit within the groove in a mating relationship to seal the housing when the end plates are engaged with each other. A second housing is a tubular shell in which a plurality of tubular flow cell units electrically connected in parallel are housed. Catholyte flows in the tubular flow cell units and anolyte flows in the tubular shell.

When the device (1) is in Operation, the pressure Chamber (5) is filled with a pressurized medium, as a consequence of which the cells are compressed. In this manner, the device (1) according to the invention combines the advantages of a conventional Stack of cells (2, 2′) with a hydraulic or pneumatic compression.

A hybrid power system for an unmanned aerial system (UAS) having a liquid fuel engine and a solid oxide fuel cell coupled to the exhaust of the engine for generating electricity that is used by the electric motors of the UAS to create lift and control flight. A conventional remote control (r/c) liquid fuel engine may be used generate exhaust gases including hydrogen and carbon monoxide that are used by a SOFC coupled to the exhaust of the r/c engine to generate electricity. The electric motors of the UAS may thus be powered by the electricity generated by the SOFC.

Roll-to-roll SOFC manufacturing method and system

A method of making a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) includes the steps of providing a first SOFC layer laminate tape comprising a first SOFC layer composition attached to a flexible carrier film layer, providing a second SOFC laminate tape comprising a second SOFC layer composition attached to a flexible carrier film layer, and providing a third SOFC layer laminate tape comprising a third SOFC layer composition attached to a flexible carrier film layer. The first SOFC layer laminate tape, the second SOFC layer laminate tape, and the third SOFC layer laminate tape are assembled on rolls positioned along a roll-to-roll assembly line. The laminate tapes are sequentially laminated and calendered and the flexible carrier films removed to provide a composite SOFC precursor laminate that can be sintered and combined with a cathode to provide a completed SOFC. An assembly for making composite SOFC precursor laminates is also disclosed.

Centralized server transmits instructions for transporting hydrogenated LOHC molecule in tanker trucks, from production facility to depots, and dehydrogenates at depots, hydrogenated LOHC molecule to release hydrogen at low pressure. Centralized server compresses, at depots, released hydrogen, and fill compressed hydrogen in high-pressure tube trailers/flat-bed cylinder cascades. Centralized server determines optimal routes for transportation vehicles from depots to retailers/consumption sites, and stores, at retailers/consumption sites, compressed hydrogen in low-pressure tanks/high-pressure buffer cylinders. Centralized server outputs information corresponding to inventory of low-pressure tanks/high-pressure buffer cylinders at retailers/consumption sites.
