The present disclosure relates to a fuel cell system including an air supply line configured to supply air to a fuel cell stack, a bypass line connected to the air supply line and configured to allow the air to flow to a target position, and a bypass valve configured to selectively open or close the bypass line, thereby obtaining an advantageous effect of effectively reducing a hydrogen concentration at the target position.

A fuel cell system includes a membrane electrode assembly, an anode-side internal passage, a cathode-side internal passage, an oxygen supply section, and a control device. The oxygen supply section includes a gas circulation passage connected to one end side and the other end side of the cathode-side internal passage, an oxygen supply source connected to the gas circulation passage, and a gas circulation device configured to circulate and flow oxygen gas in any one of one direction and the other direction in the gas circulation passage. The control device switches a flow direction of the oxygen gas by the gas circulation device according to a distribution state of moisture on the cathode electrode of the membrane electrode assembly.
VALVE UNIT, ON-TANK VALVE AND GAS PRESSURE TANK SYSTEM, IN PARTICULAR FOR FUEL CELL SYSTEMS, AND METHOD FOR DETECTING A LEAKAGE
The present disclosure relates to a valve unit for a fuel supply system which is preferably adapted to supply a fuel cell system with fuel, comprising: at least one temperature detector, at least one pressure detector, and a safety valve integrated into a line section, wherein the safety valve can be adjusted between an open position, in which gas is able to flow through the line section, and a closed position, in which gas is not able to flow through the line section, wherein the temperature detector and the pressure detector are so disposed that they are able to detect a temperature and a pressure of the gas flowing through the line section in a state in which the gas is present at the closed safety valve in such a manner that it exerts pressure. The present disclosure relates further to an on-tank valve which can have all the features described in relation to the valve unit and differs from the valve unit only in that it is able to be mounted directly on a gas pressure tank. The present disclosure relates further to a gas pressure tank system for storing fuel, comprising: at least one gas pressure tank and a valve unit. Finally, the present disclosure relates to a method for detecting a possible leakage in a fuel supply system, and to a valve assembly.
RANGE EXTENSION SYSTEM
The invention provides a range extension system including a range extension assembly, a fuel supply unit, and a second fuel storage device. The range extension assembly has a first fuel input portion and a second fuel input portion. The first fuel input portion is configured to receive a first fuel source. The second fuel input portion is configured to receive a second fuel source different from the first fuel source. The second fuel source and the first fuel source are mixed in the range extension assembly to generate an electrical output. The fuel supply unit is configured to provide the first fuel source to the first fuel input portion. The second fuel storage device is configured to store and provide the second fuel source to the second fuel input portion.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DETERMINING AVERAGE OXIDATION STATE OF REDOX FLOW BATTERY SYSTEMS
A method for determining an average oxidation state (AOS) of a redox flow battery system includes measuring a charge capacity for a low potential charging period starting from a discharged state of the redox flow battery system to a turning point of a charge voltage; and determining the AOS using the measured charge capacity and volumes of anolyte and catholyte of the redox flow battery system. Other methods can be used to determine the AOS for a redox flow battery system or use discharge voltage instead of charging voltage.
AIR TANK AND VARIABLE GEOMETRY AIR HANDLING IN HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS
An air handling system for a fuel cell stack includes a pneumatic storage device disposed downstream from a compressor, a flow control valve system configured to operatively couple an inlet of the pneumatic storage device to an outlet of the compressor and configured to operatively couple an outlet of the pneumatic storage device to an inlet of the fuel cell stack, and a controller configured to, in response to a power demand being greater than a threshold, cause the flow control valve to open to increase a flow rate of air from the pneumatic storage device to the fuel cell stack.
Systems and methods for passively controlling pressure within a cryogenic storage tank
An all mechanically controlled, non-venting pressure control system for liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen cryogenic tanks that requires no electrical control while managing disparate, non-stoichiometric reactant boil-off rates is provided. The pressure control system allows for the passive and repeatable stoichiometric consumption of hydrogen and oxygen boil-off from cryogenic tanks to form liquid water, while preventing the liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen cryogenic tanks from overpressurizing and venting to the external environment. More particularly, in response to an overpressure condition in a first reactant reservoir, a backpressure regulator is opened, providing the overpressure first reactant to a fuel cell or other consumer, and providing a pilot signal to open a supply line from a second reactant reservoir to the consumer. Whether the second reactant is supplied from the second reactant reservoir as gas or a liquid is determined based on the pressure within the second reactant reservoir.
Fuel cell system
A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack, a fuel gas supply path, an injector, an ejector, a circulation path, a pressure difference detection unit that detects a pressure difference between an ejector inlet port pressure and an ejector outlet port pressure, and a control device. The control device calculates a required circulation flow rate that is required for a fuel off gas supplied from the fuel cell stack to the ejector, based on a required load for the fuel cell stack, calculates an estimated circulation flow rate that is an estimated flow rate of the fuel off gas supplied from the fuel cell stack to the ejector, based on the required load and the pressure difference, and increases the flow rate of a fuel gas supplied from the injector to the fuel cell stack when the estimated circulation flow rate is lower than the required circulation flow rate.

A hydrogen supply system that supplies hydrogen gas to a fuel cell and causes the fuel cell to generate electricity includes a plurality of hydrogen tanks that each store hydrogen gas, and a hydrogen gas supply path that supplies the hydrogen gas to the fuel cell from each of the plurality of hydrogen tanks. At least one hydrogen tank of the plurality of hydrogen tanks is a first reserve tank that is connected to a hydrogen gas collecting pipe or a hydrogen gas recovery pipe, and that stores hydrogen gas that was not used in generating electricity in the fuel cell.
FUEL CELL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A fuel cell includes a cell stack including a plurality of unit cells stacked in a first direction, end plates respectively disposed at first and second end portions of the cell stack, each of the end plates including a core having first rigidity and a clad covering at least a portion of the core, the clad having second rigidity which is lower than the first rigidity, a heater plate provided with a heating element configured to generate heat in response to a driving power supply, the heater plate being disposed at at least one of positions between the end plates and the first and second end portions of the cell stack, and a connector accommodated in the core of each of the end plates and covered by the clad, the connector interconnecting the driving power supply and the heating element.
