Ostial stenting system

A method and apparatus provide techniques for stenting ostial legions and other restenosis in vessels through a stenting apparatus that includes both a guidewire and a separate marker wire. In some examples, the marker wire is threaded through a tubular body of the stenting apparatus and in other examples, the marker wire may be threaded externally through the tubular body. In both such examples, the marker wire may be aligned with a radiopaque marker of the apparatus to guide marker wire positioning.

Apparatus and methods for treating obstructions within body lumens

An apparatus is provided that operable in different modes to perform various functions for treating a body lumen. The apparatus includes a shaft including a proximal end, a distal end, a lumen extending therebetween, and a balloon on the distal end having an interior communicating with the lumen. The apparatus includes a valve on the distal end that selectively opens or closes an outlet communicating with the lumen. With the valve open, fluid introduced into the lumen exits the outlet into a body lumen. With the valve closed, fluid introduced into the lumen expands the balloon. The apparatus also includes an actuator for axially compressing the balloon, and a helical member extends between ends of the balloon interior that expands the balloon from a contracted condition to an expanded helical shape when the actuator is activated.

Adhesive-Free Bonded Balloon for a Balloon Guide Catheter With Minimal Outer Profile

A balloon guide catheter including a catheter shaft having a reflowable material outer layer. Secured without an adhesive to the catheter shaft is a balloon having a bond interface area with a plurality of punctures defined therein secured about the outer layer of the catheter shaft via seepage of the reflowable material of the outer layer into the plurality of punctures forming a radially outward reflow bond between the catheter shaft and the balloon. Along the bond interface area about the perimeter of the opening in the balloon, a single reflow jacket is secured to the balloon via seepage of the reflowable material of the single reflow jacket into the plural punctures of the balloon forming a radially inward reflow bond. The single reflow jacket is made of a reflowable material and has an opening defined therein aligned with the balloon.

One or more reflow jackets made of a reflowable material may also be disposed about the bond interface area of the balloon seeping into the plural punctures forming a radially inward reflow bond.

Balloon catheter, in particular for delivering drugs or stents in the region of a stenosis

A balloon catheter, in particular for delivering medicaments, stents or medicament-coated stents in the region of a stenosis, comprising an outer shaft (4) an inner shaft (6), and a balloon (7) at the distal catheter end, which balloon is dilatable by a feedable pressure fluid and which is attached with its proximal end (8) to the outer shaft (4) and with its distal end (9) to the inner shaft (6) which protrudes the outer shaft (4) in the distal direction, and a cover sheath (15) which is seated in a covering position over the contracted balloon (7) and is displaceably guided on the outer shaft (4) and which is displaceable on the outer shaft (4) in the proximal direction via its front opening (17) by the dilating balloon (7) while continuously releasing the same from distal to proximal.

Pivoting ring seal

The instant invention provides for a pivoting ring that can be used as a seal for an inflatable member. The pivoting ring seal offers a mechanical action which acts to tighten with increasing inflation and/or expansion of an inflatable member. As the inflatable member increases in pressure and/or size, one side of the ring is lifted and pivots around a fulcrum in the middle of the ring seal causing the opposite side of the ring seal to decrease in diameter. The pivot ring causes the opposite part of the seal to tighten about an inner member allowing for a higher-pressure seal. In addition to a higher pressure seal, the working length of the inflatable member can be adjusted by moving the ring along the length of the inflatable member.

Apparatus and methods for treating obstructions within body lumens

Apparatus and methods are provided for delivering fluid into a body lumen during a medical procedure. A distal end of an apparatus may be introduced into a body lumen, and a valve on the distal end may be opened to deliver fluid through a first lumen into the body lumen, e.g., contrast and/or other diagnostic or therapeutic agents. The valve may be closed, and a procedure may be performed within the body lumen, e.g., using a treatment element carried on the distal end. For example, the treatment element may include a balloon that may be inflated when fluid is delivered through the first lumen with the valve closed. Optionally, a prosthesis, energy source, drug platform, and the like may be carried by the balloon for treating the body lumen. In various embodiments, the valve may be located proximal or distal to the treatment element.

Balloon Catheter

A balloon catheter includes an outer shaft, an inner shaft, and an inflatable balloon. The inner shaft is inserted inside the outer shaft. A part of the inner shaft extends from a leading end of the outer shaft. The balloon includes a base end side joint portion joined to the outer shaft and a leading end side joint portion joined to the inner shaft. The inner shaft has an extension portion configured to in an axial line direction. The extension portion is provided further to a base end side than the leading end side joint portion.

Balloon catheter with enhanced locatability

A balloon catheter for insertion in a vessel includes a catheter shaft and an inflatable balloon attached to the catheter shaft. Markings along a longitudinal axis of the catheter are provided in an interior of the balloon, such as for measuring a distance within the vessel. A first distance separating a first marking from a second adjacent marking may be different from a second distance separating the second marking from the third adjacent marking. The markings may also be used for ensuring the proper position of the balloon and, in particular, the working surface thereof, relative to the treatment area.

An intravascular balloon catheter device for treating various size stenosed regions within a blood vessel is provided. A clamp located within a body of a handle assembly is movable between a clamped and unclamped position by way of a button. When clamped, an outer member is secured relative to a sheath to as to expose a portion of a balloon located on a distal end of the outer member. The portion of the balloon remaining within the sheath is restricted from inflation beyond the sheath.
