A battery pack includes a plurality of battery modules, each including battery cells, a module housing accommodating the battery cells and a gas venting channel in communication with an inside of the module housing; and a pack case accommodating the plurality of battery modules, the pack case including a top plate to cover upper parts of the plurality of battery modules, the top plate having a venting port, wherein the gas venting channel of each battery module is in communication with the venting port.
VENT FEATURE PROTECTION BRACKETS FOR ELECTRIFIED VEHICLE TRACTION BATTERY PACKS
A traction battery pack for an electrified vehicle may include a protection bracket for shielding a vent feature of the traction battery pack. An exemplary protection bracket may be made of a polymeric material and is designed to shield the vent feature from debris impingement. The protection bracket may include features such as a mesh venting pattern and a melting point that is lower than the temperature of battery vent byproducts that may be released during battery thermal events of the traction battery pack.
VENT FEATURE PROTECTION BRACKETS FOR ELECTRIFIED VEHICLE TRACTION BATTERY PACKS
A traction battery pack for an electrified vehicle may include a protection bracket for shielding a vent feature of the traction battery pack. An exemplary protection bracket may be made of a polymeric material and is designed to shield the vent feature from debris impingement. The protection bracket may include features such as a mesh venting pattern and a melting point that is lower than the temperature of battery vent byproducts that may be released during battery thermal events of the traction battery pack.
DEGASSING UNIT ASSEMBLY, DEGASSING UNIT, AND BATTERY HOUSING
A degassing unit assembly for closing a housing opening of a battery housing has degassing units arranged adjoining each other, each having a carrier body with a gas through-opening for discharging gases or pressure compensation. The gas through-opening extends continuously through the carrier body in axial direction. The carrier body has a rim surrounding the gas through-opening. The rim has at least one fastening dome and at least one contact region. At least two of the degassing units are end pieces. In a mounted state of the degassing units, the fastening dome of the carrier body of a first degassing unit forms, at least in sections, an overlap region in axial direction with the contact region of the carrier body of a second degassing unit adjoining the first degassing unit. A degassing unit for such an assembly and a battery housing comprising such an assembly are provided.
BATTERY PACK AND INSTRUMENT HAVING FUNCTION OF DISCHARGING GAS FROM BATTERY PACK
A device is adapted for use with a battery pack including a plurality of batteries and a case including an exhaust hole and a sealing member closing the exhaust hole, and is configured to discharge gas from case. The device includes: a pedestal on which the battery pack is to be placed; a gas inlet hole formed in the pedestal at a location overlapping the exhaust hole of the battery pack; a discharge duct being a vent path formed in the pedestal and communicating with the gas inlet hole, for guiding the gas discharged from the battery pack to outside of the device; and a pressing part protruding from the gas inlet hole, the pressing part configured to press the sealing member of the battery pack.
BATTERY MODULE, AND BATTERY PACK AND VEHICLE COMPRISING THE SAME
A battery module includes a plurality of battery cells having electrode leads on at least one side; a module housing having an accommodation space in which the plurality of battery cells is received, the module housing including an exit port on the at least one side having the electrode leads of the plurality of battery cells, the exit port through gas vented from the plurality of battery cells exits; and a gas venting member configured to cover at least one side of the module housing, the gas venting member having a passage along which the gas coming out of the exit port moves.
Electrical system with thermal protection
A battery pack for a vehicle electrical system includes a casing for receiving one or more battery modules. The battery modules are insertable into a casing of the battery pack by sliding couplers along pairs of rails and are securable to the ends of the rails. After insertion, the rails thermally insulate one battery module from other battery modules coupled to the casing. In some examples, a first stiffness or a first mechanical frequency of the casing with the one or more battery modules inserted may differ from a second stiffness or a second mechanical frequency associated with a body of a vehicle or another component associated therewith by a threshold amount. Additionally, the casing may be configured with vents for venting the hot gases, such as those generated by a battery module in a thermal runaway event.
Electrical system with thermal protection
A battery pack for a vehicle electrical system includes a casing for receiving one or more battery modules. The battery modules are insertable into a casing of the battery pack by sliding couplers along pairs of rails and are securable to the ends of the rails. After insertion, the rails thermally insulate one battery module from other battery modules coupled to the casing. In some examples, a first stiffness or a first mechanical frequency of the casing with the one or more battery modules inserted may differ from a second stiffness or a second mechanical frequency associated with a body of a vehicle or another component associated therewith by a threshold amount. PRESSURE EQUALIZATION DEVICE, METHOD FOR PRESSURE EQUALIZATION AND HOUSING
A pressure equalization device for a housing has a base body and a closure element with a flow path between them being open in a normal operating state of the pressure equalization device. A flow opening in the flow path is spanned by a membrane. An emergency venting spike projects from the closure element toward the membrane. The pressure equalization device transitions after emergency venting into an emergency operating state in which the closure element gas-tightly closes the base body. A housing with such a pressure equalization device is provided. In a method for pressure equalization with such a pressure equalization device between a housing interior and an environment, gas exchange between interior and environment is performed through the membrane and the flow path between closure element and base body. During emergency venting, the membrane is destroyed by the emergency venting spike. The closure element then closes the base body.

A battery pack may include a pack housing including an accommodation space and a venting passage connecting the accommodation space to outside, a partition wall member partitioning the accommodation space, a plurality of pack units including battery cells, the plurality of pack units disposed in the accommodation space, and a blocking unit provided between the accommodation space and the venting passage, the blocking unit blocking a substance generated in the pack unit from entering the venting passage.
