A waveguide-to-parallel-plate twist transition includes at least one waveguide-to-parallel plate twist transition element comprising an input port comprising an input waveguide portion, the input waveguide portion configured to orient an E-field of an electromagnetic wave along a first plane, and an output port comprising a multi-mode parallel plate portion, the multi-mode parallel plate portion configured to orient an E-field of an electromagnetic wave along a second plane, wherein an angle of orientation of the second plane is different from an angle of orientation of the first plane. The twist transition further includes at least one intermediate discrete twist waveguide stage coupling each input waveguide portion to the output multi-mode parallel plate portion, wherein at least one intermediate discrete twist waveguide stage is configured to orient an E-field of an electromagnetic wave along a third plane, wherein an angle of orientation of the third plane is between the angle of orientation of the first plane and the angle of orientation of the second plane

An apparatus is provided for signal communication. This signal communication apparatus includes a waveguide with an internal channel. The internal channel includes a plurality of channel segments interconnected at a junction. The waveguide includes a first surface and a second surface. The first surface and the second surface partially form a peripheral boundary of the internal channel at the junction. The first surface meets the second surface at a first corner. The first surface is angularly offset from the second surface by an obtuse angle.
Balun
A balun includes an unbalanced port, a first balanced port, a second balanced port, a main line, a subline, a capacitor, and an impedance matching section. The subline is configured to be electromagnetically coupled to the main line. The main line has a first end and a second end opposite to each other. The subline has a first end and a second end opposite to each other. The capacitor is provided between the first end of the main line and the unbalanced port. The impedance matching section is provided between the second end of the subline and the second balanced port. The second end of the main line is connected to a ground. The first end of the subline is connected to the first balanced port.

A microwave-heating system irradiates sealed packaged foods with microwaves to heat the packaged foods at 100 C. or higher for heat sterilization. The microwave-heating system includes a microwave generator to irradiate the packaged foods with microwaves of 2450 MHz in a multi-mode and a microwave generator to irradiate the packaged foods in a waveguide with microwaves of 915 MHz in a single-mode.
Feed Polarizer Step Twist Switch
A polarizer apparatus for RF communications including an in-line waveguide switch having a first port with a rectangular waveguide shape, and a second port having a circular waveguide shape. The waveguide switch includes a plurality of rotatable disks coupled and arranged between the input and output of said waveguide switch, each of the disks having an opening provided therein which defines at least a portion of a signal path configured to allow RF signals to propagate therethrough. The waveguide switch includes an actuating mechanism arranged to rotate the disks to positions relative to each other which modify the polarization of RF signals propagating through the openings. The polarizer apparatus includes a feed coupled to the output of the waveguide switch, the feed including a vane polarizer arranged to circularly polarize signals provided thereto from the output of the waveguide switch.
Simplification of complex waveguide networks
An improved system for simplifying a complex waveguide network in a satellite system is described herein. A waveguide network device may be configured with at least two housing portions attached together. This enables the waveguide network device to receive an arbitrary number of waveguide routes and output the routes in any configuration, effectively simplifying the overall waveguide network architecture.

The first RF signal wave receiving portion may be configured to be disposed at an angle relative to the second RF signal wave receiving portion, and the conductive portion may be structurally configured to include a bend. The RF signal wave blocking portion may be structurally configured to block the first RF signal wave and the second RF signal wave from interfering with one another so as to reduce potential noise when a signal changes direction at the bend of the conductive element such that the adapter can provide an enhanced RF signal.

A networking system includes a transmitter, a waveguide and a receiver. The transmitter is configured to generate a millimeter-wave signal carrying data. The waveguide is transmissive at millimeter-wave frequencies and is configured to receive the millimeter-wave signal from the transmitter, and to guide the millimeter-wave signal from the transmitter to a downstream location by having a dielectric constant that varies over a transversal cross-section of the waveguide in accordance with a predefined profile. The receiver is configured to receive the millimeter-wave signal guided by the waveguide, and to extract the data carried by the received millimeter-wave signal.
