Methods and systems for treating a bifurcation with provisional side branch stenting

A system for treating a bifurcation includes first and second delivery catheters, each having an expandable member. A stent having a side hole is disposed on the second delivery catheter. A portion of the first delivery catheter is disposed under a portion of the stent. The first delivery catheter is slidable relative to the second delivery catheter, and the first delivery catheter passes through the side hole. Expansion of the first expandable member expands a portion of the stent and expansion of the second expandable member expands the rest of the stent.

A spinal treatment method and device are provided. The treatment method includes a catheter introduction step of inserting a balloon catheter into a treatment site between nerves extending from a spine, while being bifurcated, and a lesion area that compresses the nerves; and a treatment step of dilating a balloon, on which anti-inflammatory agent is disposed, of the balloon catheter at the treatment site, and applying the anti-inflammatory agent to the treatment site.

A parison for being blow molded into a medical balloon for a catheter includes a first tubular layer having a functional modification and a second tubular layer adapted for bonding with the first tubular layer to form the blow molded balloon. Related methods are also disclosed.

Methods and systems for ostial stenting of a bifurcation

A system for treating a bifurcation includes first and second delivery catheters, each having an expandable member. A stent having a side hole is disposed on the second delivery catheter. A portion of the first delivery catheter is disposed under a portion of the stent. The first delivery catheter is slidable relative to the second delivery catheter, and the first delivery catheter passes through the side hole. Expansion of the first expandable member expands a proximal portion of the stent in a main branch vessel, and expansion of the second expandable member expands a distal portion of the stent in a side branch vessel.

ESOPHAGEAL MARKING, OCT METHOD, AND TREATMENT METHOD USING MARKS

According to one embodiment, a balloon catheter includes a balloon located at a distal end of the balloon catheter. The balloon includes a first transferrable marking and a second transferrable marking on an exterior surface of the balloon. The first transferrable marking includes a partially IR-transmittable marking material. The second transferrable marking includes an IR-transmittable marking material. An OCT probe including the balloon catheter and a method of using the OCT probe are also disclosed.

BALLOON CATHETER

One embodiment provides a balloon catheter which has an inner tube having a main lumen and an outer tube which forms an expansion lumen. A part of the inner tube is connected to the outer tube at a position closer to the proximal end than a balloon, a side hole is open at the connection section, and a weak section is provided to the inner tube a position closer to the distal end than the side hole. The weak section has lower rigidity than the remaining portion of the inner tube. When the balloon is expanded by fluid supplied to the expansion lumen, the weak section is pressed by the fluid pressure to thereby close the main lumen of the inner tube.

A system for treating a bifurcation includes a first radially expandable stent and a second radially expandable stent. The first stent has a side hole and a plurality of lateral elements extending from the side hole. The second stent has a plurality of axial elements extending away from the proximal end of the second stent. The axial elements of the second stent interdigitate with the lateral elements of the first stent when both stents have been expanded.

Chest drainage systems and methods

A chest drainage system including a collection device configured to receive fluid from the pleural cavity of a patient. A sensor is included to detect a pressure differential in the fluid. A display is configured to display a trend in occurrences of changes in pressure of the fluid over time in predetermined time increments based on a number of detections of pressure differentials that exceed a predetermined pressure differential during each of the predetermined time increments. The trend is correlative to the percentage of time that the patient is deemed to have an air leak in the pleural cavity in the predetermined time increments. The trend is derived from a ratio of the quantity of respiratory cycles of the patient for which the predetermined pressure differential is detected (QRC.sub.leak) in the predetermined time increments to the total quantity of respiratory cycles of the patient in respective predetermined time increments (QRC.sub.total).

Kyphoplasty system and method

A kyphoplasty system disclosed herein includes various instruments which can be selectively used to perform a kyphoplasty operation on a patient. For example, in some embodiments the kyphoplasty system includes an inflation plunger that is used to deliver a balloon inflation medium to enlarge an implantable balloon device. Further, some embodiments described herein include a connection system between the implantable balloon device and its delivery shaft that is simple to construct and easy to use. For example, in some embodiments one or more sutures are used to releasably connect the implantable balloon device to its delivery shaft.
