Inferior vena cava (IVC) shunt, double-balloon catheter for occlusion as a surgical tool

A double-balloon inferior vena cava (IVC) shunt for use in controlling blood loss and simultaneously maintaining venous return is disclosed. The IVC shunt comprises a first balloon-catheter unit and second balloon-catheter unit that are slidably coupled to one another to form an adjustable shunt. The first and second balloons in the shunt are independently inflatable. The double-balloon shunt is readily adjustable to fit the dimensions of the injured region.

A system for perfusing a localized site within a body includes a catheter assembly having a venous access line that is adapted to deliver perfusate to the localized site, a venous or arterial drainage line adapted to drain perfusate from the localized site, and an occlusion device adapted to prevent some or substantially all physiological blood flow between the localized site and the systemic circulation of the body during and in the course of perfusing and draining perfusate to and from the localized site. The system may include a blood circuit associated with the catheter assembly to facilitate blood conditioning for use as the perfusate, in the course of a controlled perfusion and/or drainage of untreated, treated, or inactivated treated blood to and from the localized site. A delivery machine may control the blood circuit and catheter assembly in order to both deliver perfusate to, and drain some or all perfusate from, the localized site in a manner that provides perfusate to substantially only the localized site.

THROMBOLYSIS CATHETER SYSTEM

A catheter system is disclosed. An example catheter system includes an elongate tubular member having a distal region and a proximal end, a first balloon disposed along the distal region of the tubular member, a second balloon disposed along the distal region of the tubular member, wherein the second balloon is spaced from the first balloon. The catheter system also includes a first lumen extending within the elongate tubular member, a second lumen extending within the elongate tubular member, a first set of apertures in fluid communication with the first lumen, wherein the first set of apertures are configured to inflate both the first balloon and the second balloon and a second set of apertures in fluid communication with the first lumen, wherein the second set of apertures are configured to apply a treatment to a target site positioned between the first balloon and the second balloon.

Cryo-perfusion balloon device

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for treating a vascular occlusion and preventing or reducing ischemic consequences of such an obstruction. The medical device of the present invention may include an elongate body defining a proximal end and a distal end, where the elongate body may also define an injection lumen, an exhaust lumen, and a guidewire lumen. A first expandable element may be coupled to the elongate body, where the first expandable element is in fluid communication with the injection lumen and the exhaust lumen. Further, a perfusion path may be disposed within the elongate body, and a sheath may be movably disposed about at least a portion of the elongate body. The medical device may further include a second expandable element disposed about the elongate body, as well as second inflation and exhaust lumens.

A balloon catheter includes a balloon coupled to a shaft. The shaft includes a proximal perfusion portion disposed proximal of the balloon and a distal perfusion portion disposed distal of the balloon. The proximal and distal perfusion portions each are formed by a respective plurality of wire members woven together to form a respective proximal and distal braided shafts. The plurality of wire members are woven together such that a plurality of perfusion openings are formed between the wire members. The plurality of perfusion openings extend from an outer surface of the respective proximal or distal braided shaft to a lumen of the respective proximal or distal braided shaft. A perfusion lumen extends between the proximal perfusion portion and the distal perfusion portion.

ISOLATION AND TREATMENT OF AN ORGAN OR TUMOR

Systems and methods for perfusing a treatment solution into the blood stream of particular organs while isolating those organs from the systemic vasculature as a whole. By deploying both collection and supply catheters, some having balloons on their distal ends, to particular locations within the body, various organs can be isolated so that the treatment solution can be delivered directly thereto. By isolating the organs, any side effects that may occur from a systemic introduction of the treatment solution are avoided. The method may be used to isolate not just organs, but specific tumors within certain organs for oncology treatment.

A method of delivering a medicament to a limb of a patient body includes isolating a circulatory system of the limb from a circulatory system of the patient body, wherein the limb circulatory system is substantially all limb arteries and substantially all limb veins located between an isolation region and an end of the limb. A perfusion catheter is inserted into a limb artery in an antegrade position, while a collection catheter is inserted into a limb vein in a retrograde position. The blood flow of the limb circulatory system is then circulated by collecting the blood flow with the collection catheter and delivering the blood flow with the perfusion catheter. A medicament is perfused into the limb circulatory system with the perfusion catheter.

A system and methods are described for improving the management of ischemic cardiac tissue during acute coronary syndromes. The system combines a catheter-based sub-system which allows for simultaneous balloon dilation of a coronary artery and infusion of a carefully controlled perfusate during percutaneous coronary intervention. The system allows for modulation of levels of oxygen at the time of percutaneous intervention. In addition, catheters and systems are provided for administration of fluids with modified oxygen content during an intervention that incorporate upstream flow control members to compartmentalize the perfusion of the target coronary artery and the remainder of the heart.
