The feed assembly includes a feed horn common to low, mid and high frequency bands, a coaxial polarizer to launch signals in the low band frequency band, a coaxial orthomode transducer (OMT) to launch signals in the low band frequency band and supports the mid and high frequency bands, and a polyrod disposed in a center conductor of the feed assembly, the polyrod common to the mid and high frequency bands. The feed assembly includes a tri-band feed assembly having different portions to support signals in the low frequency band and signals in the mid and high frequency bands.
MULTI-BAND, DUAL-POLARIZATION REFLECTOR ANTENNA
An antenna includes a reflector and a waveguide assembly. The waveguide assembly includes a feed assembly and a support member that extends from behind the reflector to orient the feed assembly for direct illumination of the reflector. The waveguide assembly includes a first waveguide coupled to a first portion of a common waveguide, a second waveguide coupled to a second portion of the common waveguide, and a septum layer that includes a septum polarizer coupled between the common waveguide and the first and second waveguides.
DUAL-POLARIZATION RIPPLED REFLECTOR ANTENNA
An antenna may include a reflector and a multi-band feed assembly. A support member may be coupled to the multi-band feed assembly to orient the multi-band feed assembly for direct illumination of the reflector. The multi-band feed assembly may include first and second feeds, each having a respective septum polarizer coupled between a respective common waveguide and a respective pair of waveguides. A housing of the support member may contain the respective septum polarizers and the respective pairs of waveguides.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR CIRCULARLY POLARIZED ANTENNA ARRAYS
Apparatus and methods for circularly polarized antenna arrays are disclosed. In certain embodiments, a dual-band dual-polarized antenna array is provided. The antenna array uses separate frequency bands for transmit and receive signals, and supports a right hand circular polarization (RHCP) and a left hand circular polarization (LHCP). The antenna array can be formed on a circuit board to which a beamforming integrated circuit (IC) can be attached. For example, the antennary array can formed form a low-cost printed circuit board (PCB) stack-up construction. The antenna array can provide circular polarization without needing a polarizer or coupler. Furthermore, the antenna array achieves good isolation and axial ratio under scan.
Antenna and method of manufacture thereof
There is described a dielectric polariser for a bicone antenna. The polariser can include radiating vanes that are spaced circumferentially around an aperture of the bicone antenna. The vanes are orientated at 45? to the polarised waves propagated from the antenna in order to circularly polarise the linearly polarised waves. The polariser can be configured for manufacture using a 3D printing process. Surfaces of a central hub of the polariser can be metallised to provide the radiating surfaces of the antenna. This removes the need to use separate antenna elements. Alternative arrangements of 3D printed dielectric polariser are disclosed for use with antenna horns.
Antenna horn with suspended dielectric tuning vane
A digital video broadcast satellite (DVB-S) television antenna horn assembly, reflector antenna, and a satellite communication system in which the antenna horn includes a suspended dielectric tuning vane that reduces the horn size, modifies the shape the reception pattern, and improves the antenna performance in a number of ways. The antenna horn and the dielectric tuning vane are configured to impart a combined differential phase shift protocol, such as CP polarization, on a circular polarity (CP) signal as the CP signal propagates through the horn from a reception aperture to an output aperture. The dielectric tuning vane may be built into the antenna horn, snap into the antenna horn, be built into a protective plastic lens cover that fits over horn opening, or designed to snap into the plastic lens cover. Various dielectric tuning vanes are suitable for single horn structures and multi-horn structures built into LNB amplifiers.
