Low-Profile Single And Dual Vascular Access Device
A low-profile access port for subcutaneous implantation within a patient is disclosed. The access port includes a receiving cup that provides a relatively large subcutaneous target to enable catheter-bearing needle access to the port without difficulty. In one embodiment, a low-profile access port comprises a body including a conduit with an inlet port at a proximal end, and a receiving cup. The receiving cup is funnel shaped to direct a catheter-bearing needle into the conduit via the inlet port. The conduit is defined by the body and extends from the inlet port to an outlet defined by a stem. A bend in the conduit enables catheter advancement past the bend while preventing needle advancement. A valve/seal assembly is also disposed in the conduit and enables passage of the catheter therethrough while preventing fluid backflow. The body includes radiopaque indicia configured to enable identification of the access port via x-ray imaging.
Implantable medical device for improved placement and adherence in the body
A medical device comprises a flexible member that can be adhesively attached to a housing of the medical device, allowing implantation of the medical device into a body through an incision of reduced size. The flexible member can be attached to the housing either before or after implantation into the body. The flexible member comprises suture locations, including a permeable membrane or a suture hole, for suturing the medical device to tissue of the body. The suture holes can be filled with a substance penetrable by a suture needle, to minimize tissue ingrowth before or after suturing.
Side Access for Dual Lumen Ports
Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a dual, in-line port having a body defining a first reservoir and a second reservoir arranged along a central port axis. Dual, in-line ports can be advantageous since the port can be placed through an incision site, along the central port axis, requiring a smaller incision site than side-by-side dual ports. Further, the port can include a stem extending from a side surface of the body, between the first and second reservoirs, the stem can be angled such that an axis of the catheter can extend parallel to the central port axis. The angled, side stem can mitigate disparities in fluid paths and fluid resistance between the first and second reservoirs and the respective catheter lumen. Embodiments can include a pivotable stem configured to allow an axis of the stem to be repositioned relative to the central port axis.
DEVICE FOR ASSISTING ACCESS TO A SUBCUTANEOUS PORT
The device includes a manipulation mechanism for maneuvering a base into position proximate a subcutaneous port. Arms extending from the base enable the device to receive the port and substantially immobilize the port relative to the device. The manipulation mechanism also enables a user to substantially immobilize the device relative to a patient. With the subcutaneous port substantially immobilized by the device, the user has greater confidence and accuracy when inserting a needle into the port. Further, embodiments of the device provide protection to the user to prevent inadvertent sticking of the user as the needle is introduced.
Port Identification Insert and Methods
Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a subcutaneous access port including an identification insert, or marker, visible under medical imaging. An outer perimeter of the marker can define an alphanumeric symbol to indicate a property of the port, further the marker can indicate a location or orientation of the port. The marker can be received within a recess, a shape of the recess is configured to receive the marker in a first orientation. In an embodiment, the shape of the marker and recess is configured to prevent the marker from engaging the recess in a second orientation. This can prevent the port from being assembled if the marker is coupled with the port incorrectly. The port can further include a cover plate to secure the marker within the recess. A bottom surface of the cover plate can align with the bottom surface of the port when engaged therewith.

A medical anchor device (1) for securing a medical article to a subject comprising an upper medical article attachment portion (2) and a lower insertion portion (3) for securing the medical anchor device (1) to the subject wherein the insertion portion (3) comprises a spiral anchor (5) so that the medical anchor device (1) is securable to and detachable from the subject by rotating the medical anchor device (1) in a clockwise or an anti-clockwise manner as required by the direction of the spiral anchor (5).
Venous access port assembly with push surfaces
A venous access port assembly (10) having a housing (12), a septum (14), a discharge stem (16) at a distal end thereof for connection to a catheter (50), and an interior chamber (18). The housing includes a pair of recesses (28) along both sides thereof between the distal end and a proximal port end (24), where the recesses facilitate pushing the assembly by the practitioner into a subcutaneous pocket (104) of a patient (100) for implantation into the pocket.
Surgical instrument that enables access to a region of interest
A surgical instrument may include a multi-lumen catheter configured to be inserted within the tissue. The multi-lumen catheter may include a first lumen that may enable a flow of a fluid, a second lumen that may receive a navigation probe that may facilitate an ability to locate the region of interest within the tissue, and an expandable membrane that may be situated toward a distal end of the first lumen to form an expandable cavity. The expandable cavity may be configured to expand or contract based on the flow of the fluid through the first lumen. The surgical instrument may include a fluid line, coupled to the first lumen, that may supply the fluid to the first lumen to enable the expandable cavity to expand or withdraw the fluid from the first lumen to enable the expandable cavity to contract.
Inflatable ports, catheter assemblies including inflatable ports, and methods thereof
An inflatable port including a housing, a chamber in the housing, a septum over the chamber, a hollow stem extending from the housing, and a bladder around at least a portion of the housing. The chamber has a major opening and a minor opening. The septum is positioned over the major opening of the chamber and is fixed to the housing. The stem fluidly connects to the chamber by way of the minor opening of the chamber. The bladder is configured to increase a size of the inflatable port upon inflation of the bladder and decrease the size of the inflatable port upon deflation of the bladder. Also disclosed herein is a catheter assembly including the inflatable port, as well as a method related to the inflatable port and the catheter assembly.

A medical anchor device 1 for securing a medical article to a subject comprising an upper medical article attachment portion 2 and a lower insertion portion 3 for securing the medical anchor device 1 to the subject wherein the insertion portion 3 comprises a spiral anchor 5 so that the medical anchor device 1 is securable to and detachable from the subject by rotating the medical anchor device 1 in a clockwise or an anti-clockwise manner as required by the direction of the spiral anchor 5.
