COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
A communication system for communication between at least one vehicle guided along a predefined movement path and a stationary station using a slotted waveguide which extends parallel to the movement path of the vehicle and into which at least one antenna connected to a transceiver unit of the stationary station and at least one antenna of the vehicle project. The antenna of the vehicle is moved in the longitudinal direction of the slotted waveguide with movement of the vehicle. The slotted waveguide includes at least two sections separated from one another by a respective gap. At least one antenna projecting into the respective section is provided for each section of the slotted waveguide. Two neighboring antennas projecting into different sections of the slotted waveguide are coupled via a coupling device both to a common transceiver unit of the stationary station and to one another.
OPEN-APERTURE WAVEGUIDE FED SLOT ANTENNA
The present invention provides an open-aperture waveguide fed slot antenna including a feeding section on a substrate integrated waveguide, an H-shaped slot, a matched end, and a bottom metal layer. One end of the feeding section is open and connected to the slot, providing energy feeding to the slot. A long side of the center section of the slot is connected to a top metal part of the feeding section. Another side is connected to the matching end. The matching end includes metal which is connected to the slot, the metallic via wall and the bottom metal of the feeding section which is connected to the metallic via wall. The antenna has high gain, wide gain bandwidth, a simple structure, and low processing cost and can be applied to millimeter-wave frequency bands as well as other frequency bands.

Slot array antenna including parasitic features
An illustrative example antenna device includes a substrate. A plurality of conductive members in the substrate establish a substrate integrated waveguide. A plurality of first and second slots are on an exterior surface of a first portion of the substrate. Each of the second slots is associated with a respective one of the first slots. The first and second slots are configured to establish a radiation pattern that varies across a beam of radiation emitted by the antenna device. A plurality of parasitic interruptions include slots on the exterior surface of a second portion of the substrate. The parasitic interruptions reduce ripple effects otherwise introduced by adjacent antennas.
Folded Waveguide for Antenna
This document describes a folded waveguide for antenna. The folded waveguide may be an air waveguide and includes a hollow core that forms a rectangular opening in a longitudinal direction at one end, a closed wall at an opposite end, and a sinusoidal shape that folds back and forth about a longitudinal axis that runs in the longitudinal direction through the hollow core. The hollow core forms a plurality of radiation slots, each including a hole through one of multiple surfaces that defines the hollow core. The radiation slots are arranged on the one surface to produce a particular antenna pattern. The radiation slots and sinusoidal shape enable the folded waveguide to prevent grating lobes from appearing in the particular antenna pattern on either side of a horizontal-polarity, main beam, or to prevent X-band lobes from appearing in the particular antenna pattern on either side of a vertical-polarity, main beam.

STEERABLE BEAM ANTENNA
A steerable beam antenna includes a plurality of semiconductor chips arranged along a longitudinal axis. Each of the chips has a ground plane on its upper surface, and is doped to form an array of semiconductor switches arranged along the longitudinal axis. A corresponding array of scattering elements, each having a first leg and a second leg, is mounted on each chip along the longitudinal axis. A first electrode of each switch is configured for connection to a control circuit, a second electrode is connected to the ground plane, and a third electrode is connected to the first leg of one of the array of scattering elements, the second leg of which is connected to the ground plane. A dielectric element is mounted on the antenna chips along the longitudinal axis above the arrays of switches and scattering elements and is separated from the scattering elements by an air gap.
