An acoustic lens to steer an acoustic beam includes a first structure, a second structure spaced from the first structure, an array of projections disposed between the first and second structures, each projection of the array of projections extending from the first structure toward the second structure to define a respective gap between the projection and the second structure, and an actuator configured to move the first structure, the second structure, or the array of projections for collective adjustment of the respective gaps of the array of projections. Each projection is configured to define one or more respective unit cells, each unit cell having a sub-wavelength size relative to the acoustic beam to establish an effective refractive index profile for the acoustic beam between the first and second structures. The actuator is configured such that the collective adjustment of the respective gaps varies across the array of projections to spatially modify the effective refractive index profile to steer the acoustic beam.

An epsilon-and-mu-near-zero (EMNZ) metamaterial. The EMNZ metamaterial includes a waveguide. A length l of the waveguide satisfies a length condition according to l≤0.1λ, where λ is an operating wavelength of the EMNZ metamaterial. The EMNZ metamaterial further includes a magneto-dielectric material deposited on a lower wall of the waveguide. The waveguide includes an impedance surface placed on the magneto-dielectric material.

The brake lever includes a long portion configured as including an electrically conductive material and an antenna located on the long portion. The compensation unit is disposed in a second space surrounding part of a first space including the target object, and is composed of a first meta-material having a predetermined negative refractive index. The cloaking shell is configured to surround part of the compensation unit, and is composed of a second meta-material. The negative refractive index may be a negative refractive index that is adapted to cloak the target object by compensating for the positive refractive index of the first space.

The present invention provides a radio frequency module including: an interposer; a plurality of antenna element groups that include first electrodes and a second electrode and are configured such that the first electrodes are aligned in line shapes in at least a first direction on a first surface of the interposer; and meta material portions that are provided at the interposer and affect electromagnetic properties of the plurality of antenna elements. The meta material portions include electromagnetic band gap structures provided by forming predetermined geometric patterns near both sides of the first electrodes along at least the first direction. The radio frequency module can thus have a reduced size and a broad band/a high gain.
