Port Interface for Drug Delivery Device
A drug delivery device includes a housing, a cartridge received within the housing, with the cartridge configured to receive a medicament, a drive assembly received within the housing and configured to engage the cartridge and dispense medicament from the cartridge, and a needle actuator assembly received within the housing, with the needle actuator assembly including a patient needle configured to pierce a patient's skin. A bottom surface of the housing defines a port interface configured to receive an implanted injection port.
Implantable infusion system
A system to be implanted in a living body for supplying medical substance, such as insulin. The system has a first module (1) having an inlet port (5) for receiving a transcutaneous injection of the medical substance, a second module (2) having a reservoir for storing the medical substance; a first tube (3) allowing the medical substance to flow between the first module and the second module; and a catheter (4) for releasing the stored medical substance into the living body. The first tube (3) allows the first module and second module to be implanted at different locations in the living body.
Low-profile single and dual vascular access device
A low-profile access port for subcutaneous implantation within a patient is disclosed. The access port includes a receiving cup that provides a relatively large subcutaneous target to enable catheter-bearing needle access to the port without difficulty. In one embodiment, a low-profile access port comprises a body including a conduit with an inlet port at a proximal end, and a receiving cup. The receiving cup is funnel shaped to direct a catheter-bearing needle into the conduit via the inlet port. The conduit is defined by the body and extends from the inlet port to an outlet defined by a stem. A bend in the conduit enables catheter advancement past the bend while preventing needle advancement. A valve/seal assembly is also disposed in the conduit and enables passage of the catheter therethrough while preventing fluid backflow. The body includes radiopaque indicia configured to enable identification of the access port via x-ray imaging.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IMPLANTING AN ARTERIOVENOUS GRAFT
An apparatus for delivery of a vascular arteriovenous graft comprises a tubular sleeve defining an interior lumen adapted for being slidably positioned over a tunneling instrument. Once the tunneling instrument has been advanced to a desired subcutaneous anatomical location the shaft is removed while the sleeve remains in the tissue. The sleeve has a linear slit extending from a proximal end to a point intermediate the length of the sleeve. The lumen receives the distal end of the graft and at least a portion of a cannulation chamber such that the end of the sleeve progressively expands along the slit to provide an enlarged diameter for accommodating the cannulation chamber. Longitudinal force to the sleeve during removal of the sleeve from the tissue secures the graft in the sleeve by radial compression of the sleeve for pulling the graft and the sleeve through the tunnel and deploying the vascular graft.
Venous access port with molded and/or radiopaque indicia
A venous access port assembly having a base, a peripheral surface, and a septum. The base defines an interior reservoir. The peripheral surface includes integrally molded X-ray discernable indicia identifying that the assembly is rated for power injection. The X-ray discernable indicia may extend through a height of the peripheral surface from a top surface to a bottom surface thereof. According to one aspect, the peripheral surface may be formed from X-ray discernable material, and the X-ray discernable indicia may be formed from the X-ray discernable material, or they may be formed by voids in the X-ray discernable material. According to another aspect, the peripheral surface may be formed from a radiotransparent or radiolucent material and applied with a radiopaque agent, and the X-ray discernable indicia may be one or more voids in the radiopaque agent or may be portions of the peripheral surface applied with the radiopaque agent.
Access Port Locator and Methods of Use Thereof
A medical device comprising an access port locater configured to locate a subcutaneous access port located beneath a skin surface of a host, the access port locator including at least one annular ring having first and second opposing ends and a longitudinal access, the annular ring positionable on the skin surface of the host with the first end of the annular ring in contact with the skin surface and the longitudinal axis of the annular ring substantially perpendicular to the skin surface; at least one stabilizing flange configured to stabilize the access port locater on the skin surface, the stabilizing flange extending outward from the annular ring substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal access of the annular ring; and at least one need needle guard configured to shield a hand of a user of the access port locator when the hand is positioned on the stabilizing flange.
Method, system, and apparatus for antibiotic dispensing knee prosthesis
A spacer for a knee replacement prosthesis may be provided. The spacer may include a lower surface, the lower surface having a locking component adapted to interlock with a tibial tray; an upper surface, the upper surface having an optional central femoral guide and a pair of condyle support platforms, each of the condyle support platforms being disposed on an opposite side of the central femoral guide, each of the condyle support platforms being smooth, the surface of each of the condyle support platforms further having a shallow concavity; and a body incorporating the upper and lower surfaces, the body having a hollow outer portion surrounding an internal reservoir, the body being impermeable to fluid; the body further having one or more ports, each with a channel, each channel extending through the hollow outer portion of the body directing the flow of fluid in and out of the port(s).
Implantable Medical Devices Including Septum-Based Indicators
A method of making an access port, includes providing a port body defining a fluid cavity, positioning a septum over the fluid cavity, and securing the septum to the port body. The septum includes a lower portion having a first diameter, an upper portion joined to the lower portion at a juncture, the upper portion having a second diameter less than the first diameter at the juncture, and a plurality of palpation features joined to the upper portion. Each of the palpation features includes a first end adjacent a central axis of the septum, and a second end extending radially outward, overlapping the juncture.
