ANTENNA ARRAY ASSEMBLY HAVING HIGH CROSS POLAR ISOLATION
An antenna array assembly comprises a ground plate, a linear array of patch radiator elements disposed in a spaced parallel relationship with a first face of the ground plate and a first and second elongate passive radiator each comprising a plurality of conductive parts electrically isolated from the ground plate. The first and second elongate passive radiators are disposed symmetrically on either side of the linear array and parallel to a centre line of the linear array, on the same side of the ground plate as the linear array. At least some of the conductive parts of a respective elongate passive radiator are disposed in an arrangement having parallel ridges and grooves, in which, in a cross section in a plane parallel to the first face of the ground plate, the ridges extend towards the linear array and the grooves extend away from the linear array.
ANTENNA ASSEMBLY FOR A BEAMFORMING ANTENNA AND BASE STATION ANTENNA
The present invention relates to an antenna assembly for a beamforming antenna, comprising a reflector and an antenna array that includes a plurality of first radiating elements that are arranged as a first vertically extending array, the first radiating elements extending forwardly from the reflector; and a plurality of second radiating elements that are arranged as a second vertically extending array, the second radiating elements extending forwardly from the reflector. Two adjacent first radiating elements are spaced apart from one another by a first distance, and a first radiating element and an adjacent second radiating element are spaced apart from one another by a second distance. The first distance is substantially equal to the second distance. The antenna assembly further comprises a plurality of parasitic elements that are placed along sides of the first and second of the vertically extending arrays.
ANTENNA ARRAY ASSEMBLY
An antenna array assembly comprises a ground plate, a linear array of patch radiator elements disposed in a spaced parallel relationship with a first face of the ground plate, and a first, second, third and fourth elongate passive radiator, each comprising one or more substantially planar conductive parts which are electrically isolated from the ground plate. The first and second elongate passive radiators are disposed symmetrically on either side of the linear array and parallel to a centre line of the linear array, on the same side of the ground plate as the linear array. The third and fourth elongate passive radiators are disposed further from the linear array than are the first and second elongate passive radiators. Each of the third and fourth elongate passive radiators is narrower than and projects further from the ground plate than does each of the first and second elongate passive radiators.
Arrays with foldable and deployable characteristics
Antenna devices are provided, including tightly coupled arrays, transmitarrays, and reflectarrays. An antenna device can include a plurality of substrates each having an antenna element. The substrates can be provided in connected series or in an array. The substrates can be part of an origami array such that the entire array is foldable. The substrates can optionally be attached to a framework that can actuate the substrates to different configurations. By bending, folding, or otherwise repositioning the substrates/array, the electromagnetic characteristics of the antenna device can be easily reconfigured for the desired task.
Uni-dimensional steering of phased array antennas
A phased array antenna system configured for communication with a satellite that emits or receives radio frequency (RF) signals travels in a first direction, the antenna system includes a phased array antenna including a plurality of antenna elements distributed in a plurality of M columns oriented in the first direction and a plurality of N rows extending in a second direction normal to the first direction, and a plurality of fixed phase shifters aligned for phase offsets between antenna elements in the first direction and a gain-enhancement system configured for gain enhancement in the second direction of radio frequency signals received by and emitted from the phased array antenna.
Wireless communications system with scalable architecture
A configurable wireless communications module may include a first antenna layer having one or more antenna operating at a first wireless radio band; a second antenna layer having one or more antenna operating at a second wireless radio band; and a support structure for supporting the first antenna layer and the second antenna layer in a stacked configuration. A scalable modular processor within the communication may be customized based on the particular use scenario and configured to provide a number of functions in the RF domain and in concert with a variety of sensors and components.
Antenna system and method
A conical radiator coupled to an antenna patch disposed along a first end of the radiator, said patch disposed on an insulator. A ground plane is connected to the insulator and a radome is disposed opposite a second end of the radiator. The radome has a first region presenting a convex surface towards the radiator, and a second region presenting a concave surface towards the radiator. The first end of the conical radiator is the apex of the cone. A ground plane is included and a portion of the ground plane is a planar surface and another portion extends away from the planar portion towards the radome. Also disclosed is a method for forming a radiation pattern by shaping the radome to effectuate a predetermined radiation pattern using localized convex and concave surfaces positioned on the radome at different points in relation to the conical radiator.
