Socketed portal anchors and methods of using same
11013893 · 2021-05-25 · ·

Anchors for securing a medical device relative to a body portal, wherein the anchors may accommodate most any implantation trajectory through the portal. Such anchors may further secure the device along any such trajectory without imparting undesirable biasing forces that may shift the device from its intended implanted location. In some embodiments, the anchor is configured as a burr hole anchor including a spherical member contained in a socket of the anchor such that orientation of the spherical member is permitted about three mutually perpendicular axes.

An intraosseous access system can include a hub coupled to a cannula that can be introduced into a bone of a patient. The system further includes a securement device that can couple with the hub when transitioned from an open orientation to a closed orientation. The securement device includes a first segment and a second segment that are spaced apart from each other when the securement device is in the open orientation and are approximated and secured to each other when the securement device is in the closed orientation. The first segment includes a first receptacle that receives a portion of the hub therein and contacts the hub to restrain movement of the hub relative to the securement device when the securement device is coupled with the hub in the closed orientation. The first segment also includes a first arm coupled to the first receptacle, the first arm biasing the first receptacle toward the hub when the securement device is coupled with the hub in the closed orientation.

SKULL IMPLANT-TYPE AUTOMATIC FLUID DRAIN DEVICE

The present invention provides a skull implant-type automatic fluid drain device comprising: a body having a first port to be connected to a catheter, a second port provided opposite the first port, and a flow passage connecting the first port and the second port; a separation member for separating the flow passage into first and second sub-channels; a first valve fixed to the separation member and provided to allow the movement of a fluid that moves from the first port to the second port in the first sub-channel; and a second valve fixed to the separation member and provided to allow the movement of a fluid that moves from the second port to the first port in the second sub-channel, wherein each of the first valve and the second valve has an inflow end portion that is open and a discharge end portion provided in a closed state such that the same is selectively opened at an allowed opening pressure or higher; each of the first valve and the second valve is configured such that the inner flow sectional area decreases along the direction of allowed movement of the fluid passing through each of the inflow end portion and the discharge end portion; and the allowed opening pressures of the first valve and the second valve are set to differ from each other.

Intraosseous Access Device

A surgical access assembly and method of use is disclosed. The surgical access assembly comprises an outer sheath and an obturator. The outer sheath and obturator are configured to be delivered to an area of interest within the brain. Either the outer sheath or the obturator may be configured to operate with a navigational system to track the location of either within the brain. Once positioned at a desired location, the obturator is removed, leaving a distal end of the outer sheath adjacent an area of interest, and creating a working corridor. Interrogation of the area of interest may be performed to evaluate a disorder and/or abnormality, as well as evaluate treatment regimes. Interventional devices may also be introduced to the area of interest, as well as a variety of treatments.

IMPLANTABLE LUBRICATION DEVICE AND METHOD OF TREATING A HUMAN OR MAMMAL PATIENT BY MEANS OF THE DEVICE
20210022869 · 2021-01-28 ·

A lubrication device for lubricating a joint of a human or mammal patient, which is entirely implantable in a patient's body, comprises a reservoir for storing a lubricating fluid and a fluid connection for introducing the lubricating fluid into the joint when the device is implanted in the patient's body. Further, the fluid connection comprises a fluid connection device connecting the reservoir with the joint such that a lubricating fluid flow is established from the reservoir into the joint. The fluid connection comprises either an infusion needle adapted to be intermittently placed into the joint for injecting the lubricating fluid, or a tube adapted to be permanently placed into the joint for continuously injecting the lubricating fluid.
