Catheter placement device
A catheter placement device including a location portion for locating the device relative to a body part and a tubular up stand extending upwardly from the location portion and having a bore therethrough, the bore being oriented such that the bore extends angularly relative to the body part in use.
Vacuum assisted percutaneous appliance
A luminal access device is provided that includes a luminal graft attached to a patient lumen. A percutaneous access device (PAD) is coupled to the luminal graft and adapted to stabilize a conduit in fluid communication with the luminal graft and an external medical device. A portion of said PAD adapted to be external to the patient and seal around said conduit. Infectious agent penetration at an insertion site of the PAD is reduced by providing a porous inner sleeve fluidly connected to a conduit. A vacuum or hydrodynamic source is fluidly connected to the conduit to create a fluid draw from the subject tissue through the inner sleeve to the conduit. The conduit is readily formed to have a bore and an outer conduit surface, the outer conduit surface being optionally nanotextured. The conduit bore is adapted to accommodate a medical appliance.
BONE MARROW ACCESS APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR LOCATING SAME
Bone marrow access apparatus includes a bone penetrating member and a cap. The bone penetrating member includes a tubular insertion portion, and a head portion provided at a proximal end of the tubular insertion portion. A cross-sectional shape of the head portion is wider than a cross-sectional shape of the tubular insertion portion. A recess is provided in the head portion, and an internal channel is provided through the head portion and the tubular insertion portion. The cap accommodates the head portion of the bone penetrating member therein. The cap includes a lower wall which covers at least a part of a distal side of the head portion, and a projection which projects into the recess of the head portion.
DENTAL IMPLANTS, DEVICES AND METHODS OF USING THEREOF FOR ORO-ANTRAL PROCEDURES
A process of using a dental implant for performing an antral procedure. The dental implant comprising an implant body having a proximal portion, a distal portion and at least one internal passageway whereby fluid communication is provided between at least one proximal opening in said proximal portion and at least a first portion of an outside of a distal end of said distal portion via at least one distal opening at or near said distal end. The dental implant is configured for implantation in a position wherein said at least one distal opening being adjacent to or within the sinus cavity and said at least one proximal opening being adjacent to or within the oral cavity, whereby an oro-antral channel is provided allowing for surgically accessing the sinus cavity from the oral cavity via said at least one internal passageway in a minimally invasive manner.
Neurosurgical apparatus
A high-strength steel sheet and a method for manufacturing a high-strength steel sheet having excellent phosphatability and excellent corrosion resistance after electrodeposition coating has been performed, even in the case where the contents of Si and Mn are high. The method may comprise annealing a steal sheet by using a continuous annealing method, performing a heating process, controlling the maximum end-point temperature of a steel sheet in the annealing furnace, controlling the traveling time of the steel sheet, and controlling the dew point of the atmosphere.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DRUG DELIVERY, TREATMENT, AND MONITORING
Systems and methods for delivering a drug or other therapy over an extended period of time (e.g., several hours, days, weeks, months, years, and so forth) are disclosed herein, as are systems and methods for monitoring various parameters associated with the treatment of a patient. Systems and methods are also disclosed herein that generally involve CED devices with various features for reducing or preventing backflow.
Bone marrow access device
A bone marrow access device includes a cannula and a sharp stylet removably positioned in the cannula. The cannula defines a distal opening at a distal tip and a side aperture in a side of the cannula, proximally from the distal opening. The stylet has a sharp distal tip and extends beyond the distal opening. A plug is receivable in the cannula distal to the side aperture to seal the distal opening when the stylet is removed. A method of accessing bone includes inserting the cannula and sharp stylet positioned in the cannula into bone; removing the sharp stylet from the cannula; pushing a plug through the cannula and distal to the side aperture to seal the distal opening of the cannula; and accessing the bone through the side aperture. Accessing the bone can include aspirating bone marrow, injecting a substance, or inserting an instrument into the bone.
FLUID DELIVERY DEVICE AND BONE SCREW
A delivery device for delivering substance to bone includes a luer portion configured to be detachably coupled to a bit driver, the luer portion having a luer thread. A bit portion is rigidly coupled the luer portion, and the bit portion is configured to accommodate the bit driver. A fluted portion is rigidly coupled to the bit portion, the fluted portion comprising a flute, the flute configured to create a hole in the bone. A conduit extends through the luer portion and the bit portion, at least partially through the fluted portion. The flute defines an aperture extending from the conduit entirely through the flute, and the aperture is configured to allow a substance to pass therethrough.
MODULATED ULTRA-SOUND COMPATIBLE ARTIFICIAL CRANIAL PROSTHESIS
An intracranial prosthesis comprised of a flat body having an interior ultrasound-compatible window and means about the outer portion capable of engaging a plurality of diagnostic instruments and/or intracranial delivery systems so that a practicing medical professional can monitor certain parameters of a patient or deliver therapeutic agents to the patient while using an ultrasound-monitoring device to image the patient's brain. The prosthesis is designed to allow for the continuous, uninterrupted, simultaneous monitoring of a number of parameters of a patient's brain at the patient's bedside.
Method and apparatus for fluid delivery
A method for delivering fluid to a brain of a subject is disclosed. This method includes the steps of: making one or more incisions in a subject; implanting one or more catheters in the brain of the subject; subcutaneously implanting a first part of a modular fluid delivery apparatus in the subject, the first part of the modular fluid delivery apparatus comprising a first length of tubing having a first end and a second end, the first end having a first fluid connector portion attached thereto and the second end being connected to the one or more catheters; and closing the one or more incisions such that the first part of the modular fluid delivery apparatus and the one or more catheters are entirely subcutaneously implanted within the subject.
