An apparatus is disclosed herein for a cylindrically fed antenna and method for using the same. In one embodiment, the antenna comprises: an antenna feed to input a cylindrical feed wave; a first layer coupled to the antenna feed and into which the feed wave propagates outwardly and concentrically from the feed; a second layer coupled to the first layer to cause the feed wave to be reflected at edges of the antenna and propagate inwardly through the second layer from the edges of the antenna; and a radio-frequency (RF) array coupled to the second layer, wherein the feed wave interacts with the RF array to generate a beam.

Flexible polymer antenna with multiple ground resonators

The disclosure concerns an antenna assembly having a substrate with an antenna radiating element and a ground conductor disposed on the substrate, the ground conductor further characterized by a plurality of ground resonators, wherein a length associated with each of the ground resonators increases as the ground resonators are distanced from the antenna radiating element. Additionally, a coaxial cable is routed around the antenna assembly for configuring the coaxial cable as an additional ground resonator associated with the antenna assembly. The resulting antenna provides wide band performance between 700 MHz and 2700 MHz with improved efficiency compared with conventional antennas.

Antenna and communications device

The application provides an antenna and a communications device, and pertains to the field of antenna technologies. The antenna includes a horizontally polarized antenna and a vertically polarized antenna that are disposed in a superposition manner. The horizontally polarized antenna includes a metal sheet, and the metal sheet can be separately connected to a double-sided parallel strip line in the horizontally polarized antenna and a first conductor of a coaxial cable. A diameter of a maximum inscribed circle of the metal sheet is greater than a line width of the double-sided parallel strip line, and both the metal sheet and the coaxial cable are located on a first side of a substrate. Therefore, the metal sheet can effectively suppress an induced current in the coaxial cable, and impact of the induced current on the vertically polarized antenna can be reduced.

TECHNIQUE FOR CONTROLLING AN AIRBORNE ANTENNA SYSTEM

A technique for controlling an airborne antenna system (304) for a radio telecommunications network mounted on an aircraft (300) is described. As to a method aspect performed by the aircraft (300), a physical antenna orientation of the antenna system (304) relative to geographic cardinal directions is determined. The physical antenna orientation is stabilized in a predefined direction relative to the geographic cardinal directions by controlling a rotational actuator (514) of the antenna system (304).
