Terminal
20220384967 · 2022-12-01 ·

The invention relates to a terminal (1), in particular an installation terminal, for connection of an electrical conductor (2) without stripping, having at least one conductor insertion area (13) for inserting an electrical conductor (2), insulated with an insulating material, into the terminal (1) in a conductor insertion direction, wherein the terminal (1) furthermore has, for each conductor insertion area (13), an actuating part (50), which is rotatable about an axis of rotation, and an insulation-piercing contact (30) having a cutting edge (33) for cutting through the insulating material and establishing electrical contact with the electrical conductor (2), wherein the cutting edge (33) extends about the axis of rotation along an arc, wherein the insulation-piercing contact (30) is connected to the actuating part (50) in such a way that, via a rotation of the actuating part (50) about the axis of rotation, the insulation-piercing contact (30) is movable between a contacting position, in which the cutting edge (33) intersects the conductor insertion area (13) for establishing electrical contact with an inserted electrical conductor (2), and a release position, in which the cutting edge (33) clears the conductor insertion area.

Cable splice having interlocking jaw members

A cable splice includes a casing having a central portion and a first end including a first aperture. The casing defines an interior cavity. A jaw assembly is positioned in the interior cavity and moveable between a loading position and a terminated position for engaging a conductor. A biasing member biases the jaw assembly toward the terminated position. The jaw assembly includes a jaw member having a jaw body, a curvilinear projection extending from the jaw body and a curvilinear groove extending into the jaw body. The projection and groove are aligned with one another and configured to mate with a respective groove and projection of an adjacent jaw member.

Busbar design that terminates with sealed connector

A novel busbar, suitable for low-power applications, features a u-shaped extension having a male terminal that fits into and establishes electrical connection with a standard female terminal. The housing of an electrical box including the busbar is modified to receive the female terminal in such a way that Ingress Protection ratings of IP67 and IP69K are maintained within the electrical box. The busbar is not riveted to a thicker busbar terminating with a stud and lug nut, as in legacy configurations, thus being simpler and cheaper to manufacture. The female terminal, once connected to the busbar, is removable by inserting a tool into a dedicated opening within the housing.
