Electrical Terminal Connectors for Battery Modules

Electrical connectors that can be used with battery modules, such as battery modules containing one or more electrochemical cells, and that include features for precisely locating electrical conductors engaged with the electrical connectors and/or features for increasing robustness of the electrical connectors to overcurrent conditions. In some embodiments, each electrical connector includes a securing plate having multiple openings for securing the electrical connector to a positive or negative terminal of a battery module. In some embodiments, each electrical connector includes two or more tapering bridges extending between a securing plate and a pair of corresponding crimping clasps that receive corresponding respective current conductors or branches of a single current conductor during use. Electrical systems containing such electrical connectors are also disclosed.

A grounding module with a single-part grounding element is provided in order to ground a plug connector modular frame. The grounding element can be made of a resilient elastic sheet metal in the form of a stamped bent part. The single-part grounding element forms a contact spring with a contact arm for electrically contacting the plug connector modular frame as well as a busbar and a V-shaped clamping spring for connecting a grounding line to the busbar in an electric manner and so as to produce a mechanical fixation.

Bus bar assembly

A bus bar assembly includes a nonconductive terminal cap that is configured to secure to an electrically conductive terminal via an attachment feature. The terminal cap has a slot that is configured to expose a terminal portion of the terminal when in an assembled condition. A bus bar has an end that is configured to be received in and extend through the slot when in the assembled condition in which the end is in electrical contact with the terminal portion of the terminal. A nonconductive shroud encloses the bus bar.

Bus bar assembly

A bus bar assembly includes a nonconductive terminal cap that is configured to secure to an electrically conductive terminal via an attachment feature. The terminal cap has a slot that is configured to expose a terminal portion of the terminal when in an assembled condition. A bus bar has an end that is configured to be received in and extend through the slot when in the assembled condition in which the end is in electrical contact with the terminal portion of the terminal. A nonconductive shroud encloses the bus bar.

Inter-terminal connection structure

An inter-terminal connection structure including a plurality of terminal portions and a conductive component electrically connecting the plurality of terminal portions. The conductive component includes a conductive member having a plurality of connection portions fastened to the respective terminal portions in a connected state. The connection structure also includes a case having insulation properties while accommodating the conductive member, an insulating terminal portion cover covering at least one of the terminal portions, a terminal portion opening window provided to the terminal portion cover to partially expose the terminal portion, and a connection-portion-side relay portion provided to the connection portion fastened to the terminal portion covered by the terminal portion cover, and projecting to an outside of the case and inserted through the terminal portion opening window to be connected to the terminal portion.

Inter-terminal connection structure

An inter-terminal connection structure including a plurality of terminal portions and a conductive component electrically connecting the plurality of terminal portions. The conductive component includes a conductive member having a plurality of connection portions fastened to the respective terminal portions in a connected state. The connection structure also includes a case having insulation properties while accommodating the conductive member, an insulating terminal portion cover covering at least one of the terminal portions, a terminal portion opening window provided to the terminal portion cover to partially expose the terminal portion, and a connection-portion-side relay portion provided to the connection portion fastened to the terminal portion covered by the terminal portion cover, and projecting to an outside of the case and inserted through the terminal portion opening window to be connected to the terminal portion.

A connector for connecting conductor end portions of stranded conductors of two power cables sections, each stranded conductor including a plurality of wire layers, each conductor end portion being arranged tapering in an axial direction towards a tip of the respective stranded conductor in steps, wire layer by wire layer. The connector including: a plurality of sleeves configured to be arranged concentrically, wherein each sleeve includes a first sleeve part provided with radially outwards extending first flanges and a second sleeve part provided with radially outwards extending second flanges, wherein when the first sleeve part and the second sleeve part of the same sleeve are assembled with each other, each first flange is configured to face a respective second flange, a plurality of fasteners, wherein each pair of first sleeve part and second sleeve part is configured to be arranged around and clamp a respective correspondingly sized step of both conductor end portions by means of a respective subset of the fasteners arranged to connect the first flanges and the second flanges, and resilient members configured to be arranged between the first flanges and second flanges of the sleeves to provide elasticity between each pair of first sleeve part and second sleeve part, wherein each intermediate sleeve and the outermost sleeve has axial slots configured to receive the first flanges and second flanges of at least a next size smaller sleeve of the plurality of sleeves.

Electrical Connection Module and Electrical Connection Assembly

An electrical connection module includes an electrical connection member having a receiving cavity and a contact spring arranged therein. The electrical connection member has an outer peripheral wall surrounding the receiving cavity, and a top wall and a bottom opening opposite to the top wall in an axial direction of the receiving cavity. The contact spring is annular in shape and is adapted to be fit as a ring onto a conductive post of a connected object inserted from the bottom opening. The contact spring is adapted to undergo elastic deformation along a radial direction of the receiving cavity to establish radial electrical contact with the inserted conductive post.

Sheath-bonding link box

A sheath-bonding link box includes a housing forming an enclosure defining an interior space. A plurality of electrically conductive connectors extend through the housing between an exterior of the enclosure and the interior space. The plurality of connectors each have an internal connecting portion positioned inside of the interior space and an external portion positioned outside of the enclosure. The internal connecting portion is electrically connectable to a functional link in the interior space. The external portion is dimensioned to be electrically connectable to a sheath-bonding lead. The internal connecting portions of the electrically conductive connectors and the functional links are mounted to at least one electrically insulating carrier unit. The carrier unit includes a plurality of receptacles, with each receptacle adapted to at least partly receive one of the functional links in an orientation along a longitudinal axis of the internal connecting portion of each connector.
