Cable fitting for connecting a high-voltage cable to a high-voltage component

A high-voltage cable fitting, typically a cable end termination or a cable joint, includes coaxially arranged around an axis a rigid conical insulator, an electrically insulating, elastomeric stress-relief cone matching the rigid conical insulator through a conical interface and an axially aligned current path. The current path connects a conductor of the cable to a high-voltage current terminal arranged on top of the rigid conical insulator and provided for connection to a high-voltage component. The rigid conical insulator is configured as a condenser core and includes a plurality of electrically conductive field-grading layers, which are arranged concentrically around the axis, and a rigid polymeric matrix which embeds the field-grading layers. In order to keep the size of the cable fitting small and to enable the fitting to carry high rated continuous currents a section of the cable conductor, which is stripped off the insulation of the cable, extends from the conical interface to the high-voltage current terminal and forms the axially aligned current path, and the condenser core comprises an axially aligned tubular duct which receives the stripped-off section of the cable conductor and which passes two opposing front faces of the condenser core.

CONNECTION SYSTEM

A connection system for electrically connecting a cable to a device connector includes a terminal lug having a connecting section having an opening for engaging the terminal lug into a connected state with the device connector. A fixation element fixes the terminal lug in place, in the connected state, on the device connector, with shape fit and/or with force fit, to produce a fixed state. The terminal lug has an elastomer overmolded onto it, at least in the region of its connecting section, that forms a holder having a wall. The fixation element forms a section of a locking unit arranged within the holder in the fixed state, at least in certain sections, that includes a cap element for covering the fixation element, at least in certain sections. The cap element presses against and elastically deforms the wall in the fixed state, at least in certain sections.

MECHANICAL GROUNDING CLAMP

A mechanical grounding clamp includes a body, having an upper plate defining a threaded hole therethrough and having an outer surface, a lower plate spaced apart from the upper plate and having an inner surface, and a connecting plate connecting the upper plate to the lower plate; a set screw mateable with the threaded hole in the upper plate and having a proximate end and a distal end, the distal end extendable through the threaded hole of the upper plate and toward the inner surface of the lower plate. There may be a nut on the set screw for driving toward the upper plate to secure a grounding conductor to the body. Optionally there is a cap defining a set screw hole therethrough and having an inner surface, the cap affixable to the outer surface of the upper plate with the set screw passing through the set screw hole; the nut may secure the cap to the upper plate.

A battery terminal clamp has a body portion with an intermediate aperture for engaging a battery post. The clamp further includes a threaded rod extending upwardly relative to the body portion at an angle to the horizontal of between 45 and 60. A battery pull bar extends from one side wall to the opposite side wall of the body portion. A wedge-shaped element abuts one side wall of the body portion. Together with the battery pull bar, the wedge-shaped element alternately effects a reduction in, or increase in, the size of the intermediate aperture.
