A wire terminating apparatus and method which allows for determining the quality of a wire termination. The method includes terminating the wire, monitoring the thermal properties of the termination with one or more thermal sensors and comparing the monitored thermal properties to stored thermal properties to determine if the termination is defective. If the termination is defective, the termination is discarded. The apparatus includes a wire termination zone. A thermal sensor is mounted on the wire terminating apparatus proximate the wire termination zone. The thermal sensor monitors the thermal properties of the termination to determine if the termination is defective.

A wire terminating apparatus and method which allows for determining the quality of a wire termination. A crimp contact includes a crimp barrel having a crimp base, a pair of crimp shoulders, a crimp region, and an impedance matching region. The crimp shoulders in the crimp region form a longitudinal seam when bent around an electrical conductor. An outer surface of the crimp barrel in the impedance matching region has a gradual expansion along a direction of the longitudinal seam.

An electric wire with terminal includes: an electric wire having a conductor part covered by an insulation sheath part; a crimp terminal including a conductor crimp part crimped to the conductor part, a sheath crimp part crimped to the insulation sheath part, and an intermediate part from which the conductor part is exposed, the intermediate part connecting the conductor crimp part and the sheath crimp part; and an anticorrosive material that covers the conductor part exposed from the crimp terminal. A terminal of the insulation sheath part on the conductor crimp part side is exposed toward the intermediate part side from the sheath crimp part. The crimp terminal includes a sheath cover wall part that covers an edge of the terminal of the insulation sheath part on a top view.

An electric wire with terminal includes: an electric wire having a conductor part covered by an insulation sheath part; a crimp terminal including a conductor crimp part crimped to the conductor part, a sheath crimp part crimped to the insulation sheath part, and an intermediate part from which the conductor part is exposed, the intermediate part connecting the conductor crimp part and the sheath crimp part; and an anticorrosive material that covers the conductor part exposed from the crimp terminal. A terminal of the insulation sheath part on the conductor crimp part side is exposed toward the intermediate part side from the sheath crimp part. The crimp terminal includes a sheath cover wall part that covers an edge of the terminal of the insulation sheath part on a top view.

A connector assembly device includes a terminal clamping device clamping and fixing a terminal of a connector and an insertion module. The insertion module includes a housing clamping device clamping and fixing a housing of the connector, a terminal guide device having a conical guide hole guiding the terminal into the housing, and a linear moving device driving the housing clamping device and the terminal guide device to move towards the terminal. The terminal is inserted into the housing through the conical guide hole.

A connector assembly device includes a terminal clamping device clamping and fixing a terminal of a connector and an insertion module. The insertion module includes a housing clamping device clamping and fixing a housing of the connector, a terminal guide device having a conical guide hole guiding the terminal into the housing, and a linear moving device driving the housing clamping device and the terminal guide device to move towards the terminal. The terminal is inserted into the housing through the conical guide hole.

A detection system includes an imaging device and a control device connected in communication with the imaging device. The imaging device captures a 3D image of a connector including a housing, a terminal, and a cable. The control device calculates a height of a connection end of the cable crimped to the terminal relative to a bottom surface of the housing according to the 3D image.

A terminal crimping apparatus clamps a barrel portion of a terminal between an anvil and a crimper and caulks the barrel portion so as to enclose a core wire of a cable with the barrel portion. The terminal crimping apparatus comprising: a pressing part which is provided adjacent to the crimper side by side, is capable of separating from and approaching to the cable by movement of at least one of the anvil and the crimper, and prior to caulking of the barrel portion, pushes the cable outward while coming into contact with the cable and being applied with pressing force so as to bring the core wire into contact with a base surface of the barrel portion; and a regulating part which interferes with the pressing part which brings the core wire into contact with the base surface, and regulates pushing out the cable by the pressing part.

A terminal crimping apparatus clamps a barrel portion of a terminal between an anvil and a crimper and caulks the barrel portion so as to enclose a core wire of a cable with the barrel portion.
